For all his much-documented shortcomings, Liefeld does still have a certain amount of fanbase left, so I guess Marvel just wants to exploit that.

what's with that terrible goatee? Aren't these two the characters that Liefeld's suppsed to actually be able to draw?
Wow, well done, Rob!

really if he was as unpopular to all the fans as he is on the boards then marvel wouldnt cash his fame right? liefeld is an awesome artist

nubly does raise an interesting point.....comicbook fans who post on message boards represent a small subset of the comic book fan population.

Well, that's what I was saying. Even though Liefeld is frequently bashed, he still has enough fans to justify Marvel employing him. But, whether you like him or not, some of the criticisms of his stuff are definitely valid.

How is Cable's ironing board going to be useful in battle? Is he going to Spray & Wash then starch his foes to death??? Liefeld subconsciously puts everyday items in his pictures then demands us to take him seriously: hair dryer guns, ironing boards guns...

there was an interview with him (i think it was an old wizard) that asked him why he draws weapons like that. he says its a parody of the surfers board. how is a surf board useful in battle?

Is it me, or has Mr. Liefeld's work gotten worse? I DO NOT have a critical eye, and even I boggle at the shoddiness of that picture.
-Cable's fingers are all the same length, and his ironing board doest seem like it could really fit in his arm like he has it, as mentioned previously Shatterstar's curving swords, and is Cable 9 feet tall, or is Shatterstar a dwarf?

Liefeld sucks, but I still like a lot of his creations (Deadpool, Shatterstar, GW Bridge, Domino, Grizzly, Kane, Hammer, etc).

i thought he was writing them and doing the covers only... but yeah i like the characters he creates as long he dont draw them anymore... pls god no more.
and yeah its true he does have a small fan base of Liefeld fans, the true die hard fans and the ultimate suckiest art ever in comicdom is way powerfull that marvel just had to hire him.. thank god he didnt do the interior of them books or else..

His stuff does not age well in the sense that on glossy paper it just plain stinks.... with that said....
I really liked his classic 80's look he did on New Mutants, I love realism as much as the next guy but he has his charms.

What's ironic is Liefeld had THIS to say about that cover..
Yeah, I told my buddies whern I finished it that I thought Shatt looked a bit feminine.
What i don't get is if he looked like a chick and he KNEW it, why did he not change it.
I honestly do not get him.

This is how I feel. I can live with his art on a project, but when he writes or plots the project, it is unreadable.

Alan Moore wrote the Steve Skroce issues of Youngblood ;) , which is why they were good reads.

Did anybody else notice that Cable's scar is on the wrong side? Also I don't belive Shatterstar ahs ever had a flashing eye but I could be wrong.

liefeld is not, in my opinion, a great artist. therefore, i do not buy things he works on. liefeld does, more than any other artist, get people talking (usually bitching) about whatever project he is working on. for every poster online who derides his work, there is still a market out there that enjoys it.

So he refers to his own work as Shatt, does he.
Actually, that one above me is actually pretty good.

It's actually a meat tenderizer from the future; and Shatterstar's got Mojoverse Ginsu knives.
It's all part of their new cooking show, "X For Dinner". ;)

We get it. Liefeld is not the best artist or writer. This dead horse has been sufficiently beaten.

I dont mind his work personally, just his sense of perspective is skewed. I think he only has one eye, which is why he does little homages to himself on some of his characters, they often flash as if to say look kids only one eye!!

i really dont see how his art is that bad. sure he isnt symetrical but alot of other artists are like that. he did not improve on his artwork but, IMO of course, its phenominal the way it is. marvel should get him to do cable and deadpool- that would make me buy it

I also think that Liefeld should never be on Cable/Deadpool. It would be something very terrible.
And yes, us poor Teen Titans fans getting stuck with him. But it will only be for two issues. I'm just glad that I dropped it for August, but also regret it because Simone is writing those two issues.

As for the WHy?? i'm personally glad Marvel keep him around in his own title (and only that :D )
I always fear some crap happening someday like , him going all angry and saying : "Deadpool rights are mine!!!" .
So yeah keep him around , on xforce or whatever i dont read .

Actually in that first pic I liked Cable's goatee, granted that was the only thing that I liked, but still it was kinda stylish.
And in the second one, if her tits were drawn properly Dom would actually look pretty hot.

I don't mind Rob's art at all.
It's not the best (and his anatomy is off in spots) but he's dynamic, energetic and truely loves his work if he puts up with the constant bashing and bitching people do regarding his artwork.
I think he's a horrible writer... whoever the genius was at Marvel that thought just because he and McFarlane could draw MUST mean they are good writers too should be shot... but I digress.
Liefeld is no worse than Rags Morales or some of the other "hot" new guys. I think he got a bad rap for the lateness in his books and the books weren't looking any different than when he worked at Marvel... so people were pissed because his art really isn't THAT good to warrant massive delays... like Ethan Van Sciver's is... but he's also not as horrible as people make him out to be. He reminds me a lot of Jim Lee or Michael Turner in the "poster" look to his stories... but I thought his X-Force mini showed improvements in his storytelling and I thought (though the story was utter shite) he got stronger as the series progressed.

When he was drawing the New Mutants in the 80's, he was an Art Adams clone, and his art was cool. Like you said, when he started to develop his own stlye on X-Force in the 90's, his art went to hell in a hand basket.

Just two words. It bites! Can't believe Liefield is replacing McKone hope its only temporary.
When did Cable hire Deathstrokes barber? The beard is WAY to similar...
And is it the 90's all over again? Are glowing eyes STILL cool?
