What ST books have been put onto audio cd?
Are there any good fantasy novels on CD?
And any other books you can suggest. I got a membership to simplyaudiobooks.com and want to make the most of it. :)

A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords By George R.R. Martin
These are outstanding and most agree that they are the best there is. I dont know if you can get them from your place on CD but if you sign up for Audible.com ($20.00 a month for 2 complete audio book downloads) you can burn your own copies to cd using there software. This is what I did. The books are 35-44 hours long each and are just massive in scope. You will not be disappointed. I think Audible still offers the first month free and then you can cancel after that and not be billed further. If you do that and then just keep the service for one extra month you can get all 3 books (a $180.00+ value) for only $20.00. You still have total access to your books after you cancel the monthly service you just wont get to chose any more books. After you download them you can play them on your PC, put them on a portable player, or burn a copy to disk.
I have been an Audible member for a year now. The books are high quality and you get them at a fraction of the M.S.R.P. Check it out.
I checked your site and they dont offer these books so you would have to go with audible. Audible seems to have way more titles. Remember, If you go with audible you own your books and dont have to return them and you get them instantly via download. Its a much better deal.

I have dial up
And...I can request the book, and they will get it. Or so they say. :)

They do offer 4 different audio qualities.
format 1 is 19mb AM radio quality
format 2 is 30mb FM radio quality
format 3 is 60mb MP3 quality
format 4 is 120mb CD quality
each book is split into 4 or 5 parts and this is the file size per part for each format. Like I said, I still think they offer the first month free so you would be able to get the first two books at no cost. You would just have to start the download at night when you go to bed and it would probably be done in the morning. I is possible to use the site with dial-up, it just takes longer to download. I would not do formate 4 if I was you. I have Cable and I still use format2-3 most. Just somthing for you to consider. If your site cant get them you should still consider checking them out.

You don't necessarily have to download the books. You can also get them as Audio Book rentals on CD. Audible is definately the way to go if you want a good download rental service but if you have dial up or don't have an MP3 player. Get the CD's from Jiggerbug.com which I think has first time rental deals. SimplyAudiobooks.com is also a nice service and the lowest priced monthly rental. Just like netflix but for Audiobooks. If you don't want to subscribe look at blackstone.com they have a great one book at a time no subscription service.

It's not fantasy, but I can't say enough good about Robert Graves'
I, Claudius.
I checked it out rom the library for a Washington-Quebec drive and was totally enthralled by it. Heck, the 15 hour drive seemed too short!

I found that I could listen to some great audio books (http://www.emusic.com/audiobooks/index.html) through this site, sorry I don't much about audio books and can't suggest one for ya.

Who knew that audiobooks attracted spam?
Douglas Adams' reading of his Dirk Gently and Hitchhiker books is very nice.
I adore Lenny Henry's reading of Anansi Boys.
And Ray Bradbury's reading of The Martian Chronicles.

Perhaps some of the best audio books available are those in the Harry Potter series. These are extremely well described and produced and will draw you into the story. The narrator, Jim Dale, is excellent and tells the story really well. The Dirk Pitt books written by Clive Cussler and the Odd Thomas books of Dean Koontz are also very well done and work well as an audio book.

World War Z by Max Brooks is almost like a radio play. It has a huge cast, and the plot is engaging.

That's what I do. When I find a good book list (fantasy or otherwise), I can go online to the library and see if they have the CD. Then put it on hold so it's there when you get there. Most libraries have really good audiobooks collections. Then listen while painting.
I agree that the reader on Anansi Boys is probably one of the best I've heard and a reader can make or break an audiobook.
Arliss Howard is also perfect to read Elmore Leonard and The Book Thief was really well done (that one sneaks up on you).

Ender's Game
And the sequels, but the first book is the best. The new recording they did for the 20th anniversary is really great.

No, no, I keed, I keed.
Ya know what, this does get me thinking though...have any comic books been adapted for audio?
DR.NAUT is brilliant madness! great on your ipod, i want more of this. I found it googling for stuff, and wasn't sure about it, it's by a female artist. Can't help myself, got it, but it's great, not flimsy at all. There are some super laboratory sounds in it, love the theme tune, story is edgy - ! I like Chris Ware and I am sure this lady likes his work too.

The Wheel of Time series is on audio books. They have two people, Kate Reading and Michael Kramer, who read the entire series. Kate handles all scenes that involve the female characters as the main protagonists and Michael handles the male parts. Both do a great job.
As to where to get audio books the best place is your local library. I've literally listened to hundreds of audio books and have never paid a dime for one. If you get them on CD you can copy them to your computer.

The audiobook for Gaiman's American Gods is great (same reader as the George RR Martin books).
For nonfiction, A Short History Of Nearly Everything (unabridged) is a truly outstanding piece of work with a quality reader :)
Terry Pratchett's Discworld books
Seconded. Nigel Planer & Stephen Briggs truly capture the Discworld characters.
and you can find many audio books at your local library!

I really don't like Stephen Briggs reading the Watch novels.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was well cast and surprisingly funny.
If you want "audio dramas," though, head over to Big Finish Productions (http://www.bigfinish.com/). Doctor Who, Judge Dredd, Dark Shadows ... they do some great work.
