From the first couple of issues of the mini-series, I got the impression that they were trying to finally take care of Havok's confidence issues. Failing and having his team taken captive can only be a huge emotional set-back for the guy. I fear when we see him again, he's going to be a wreck. Hopefully, once he escapes he will seek out Carter and Annie for solace.

His teams never seem to ever get respect or enduring success when he's around. It is indeed a travesty of epic proportions... Yet could as you say become an interesting plot point.

As for how the story continues... I would like to see Ray, Korvus and Lilandra get together and go underground. Meanwhile Havok and Polaris sow the seeds of rebellion in whatever prison world/moon/other they end up in and eventually they manage to contact Ray somehow and lead a mass break out (kinda the way Corsair did, but on a waay bigger scale).

They then go on to kick Vulcan's booty.

Now that we've all seen the cover to "X-Men: Divided We Stand" #2 (which should be out in May), shall we all speculate on what this means for Havok fans? Did anyone else pee their pants with joy upon seeing that majestic cover?

Even though May is a few months away, it's nice that Marvel isn't leaving Havok in space limbo. It may just be a short story checking in on our favorite Sh'iar captive, but anything moving this story onwards is a blessing. And seeing as UXM #500 shall be shipping sometime in July, the possibilites that it could be about a rescue mission of Havok and Polaris seem all that more tanigable.

It sounds like a scene from Exiles #28, in which a "bad" Alex from an alternate reality takes over good Alex's body; and he threatens Carter. Sorry I don't have a scan of those panels.

Also, Loeb says that Havok will be playing a role in Ultimatum.

Loeb also talked about a still-in-negotiations pitch for an Ultimate Wolverine mini looking at the women in Logan's life and both how and why they all seemed to meet an "untimely demise," and revealed that Havok and Wolverine would meet again in "Ultimatum."

It is a big upcoming space crossover that will start early next year featuring the Inhumans, Vulcan, the Starjammers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova, and at least one big character yet to be named.

Yost is going to do a lead up story to War of Kings featuring the Starjammers (perhaps a one shot or a mini) we don't know yet.

War of Kings is the next upcoming Marvel Cosmic crossover event. It'll be a war between the Shi'Ar Empire ruled by Vulcan and the Inhumans ruled by Blackbolt. Nova, the Guardians of the Galaxy and a whole lot of other Cosmic characters will play a role in this event.

Yes, the Ultimate Universe has had real problems for some time. I don't like what they have done with either Lorna or Havok so far. Ultimatum is a chance to fix some of that if Loeb is up to it. I will be pissed though if Lorna is left out considering the only two characters she has had any real interaction with in the Ultimate universe so far will be there.

Basically, Ultimatum is my last try with the Ultimate universe, if it sucks and Lorna is left out then I will be giving up on it.

I think there is a strong chance we will see Havok and Polaris in the planned Starjammer lead in to War of Kings in November or December, but that like War of Kings will be in space. I sadly doubt Havok and Polaris will be back on Earth until closer to November or December of next year not this year.

It turns out the Starjmmers mini starts in X-Men Kingbreaker in December which will be four issues and then in April or May it is likely War of Kings will start.

Well, in the fantastic X-Men: Emperor Vulcan #5, Havok couldn't exactly fly, but was seemingly able to launch and propel himself because he was so powered up. Yup, too many to list. Currently though, Dustin (my friend does about 70% of all my commissions) finished Madelyne Pryor. He's working on some Dark Avengers, and Warpath in his costume from the Shi'ar storyline.

I picked up Marvel Eye of the Camera and was suprised to see Alex there. I had forgotten that he spent time with Magneto during his so called reformation era when he was trying to follow Xavier's teaching. Other then that era they really didn't meet much over the years, not counting the months spent with AU Magneto in Mutant X.

Ok, so I'm sorry if this thread already exists, but I both searched for it using CBR's search function and gone through a bunch of the pages and couldn't find it. So...

I'm wondering if anyone on this board wants to talk about the middle Summers brother, Havok. He's one of my all time favorite X-men, and I always liked him better than his older brother Scott, and his younger brother Gabriel just flat out sucks.

His mutant power is to absorb ambient cosmic energy and then emit it as powerful plasma blasts. He can apparently use this ability to generate a protective field allowing him to survive in the vacuum of space. He is also immune to the affects of Scotts eye blasts.

So, who else here besides me loves Alex Summers?

I agree with you there... I also loved 616 Havok's relationship with Mutant X Lorna. It was the kind of snarky no overly emotional nonsense relationship I wished they had in the 616.

Sort of...his mutant abilities are much cooler and more powerful than Bishops. Havok is just the example of x-writers never giving him proper treatment in characterization and development.

I sure hope it's like that but the only time she was interesting was when she was all crazy and trollish of almost everyone. Now, she's back to being Havok's sidekick. Maybe when she comes back she can lead her own team of X-men without Havok.

Lorna was my favorite character under Austen and Milligan. I dropped her like a dead fish when Brubaker made her normal again. I loved how obsessed with her Havok was in Milligan's run, and she was all "Don't you just LOVE nurses! :D"

I kinda agree to a degree. Thats how Id want Iceman to be a leader. He worked in OZT for this reason. I dont want to see him in Xfactor though. That book really isnt a good fit for him

I would love to see Havok and Lorna drop by X-Factor, I think I remember seeing PAD say he would love to do it to, not be join the roster but to spotlight for an arc and let the old team members reminisce a bit.

After that it would be cool to see Havok and Lorna set up shop on their own no team required, she could be a little nuts and he could love her all the more for it, think Natural Born Killers but keeping them as good guys.

After what went down between Havok and Vulcan I cannot see him seeing eye to eye with how Scott has changed and Scott's Anger towards Prof. X. Maybe they could be the Professor's two member team.

Same here! I was thrown for a bit of a loop when I read it took the guy only 5 minutes to create. I just felt that these images of Havok were just too good not to post. I have always wanted to get a commission of Havok done at a convention but have just never made the time to do so in between panels and bargain hunting on the show floor.

And on a side note it seems that the Alex talk gets grouped into the Polaris thread for the most part (which is fine) so when I can bump his own appreciation thread with a little something I take each opportunity that I can.

Havok's black costume is ICONIC and definitely my favorite of all of the ones he's worn. I especially loved him during the Outback era. I'd love to get more commissions done but they get to be SO expensive!

I definitely agree. The original Neal Adams designed black costume is still my favorite costume of his. I was thrilled back when Steve Epting was on X-Factor during issues #114-121 and put him back into that costume (and it looked great sans the head gear portion).

Salvador Larroca's second attempt at his costume is the modern look that I prefer the most these days. The small alterations I would like seen to Havok's current look is to get rid of or redesign the head piece that is similar to Gambit's that he's been sporting since X-Tinction agenda and to return the concentric circles pattern to his chest piece. And the X on the belt has always looked out of place to me with the Billy Tan design.

And while I like Polaris I too am glad to be able to have another venue to discuss Havok on his own merits. I look forward to much further discussions especially if he does in fact return to the X-Men books this calendar year.

that's one of the reasons i <3 ed that era. there were so many interpersonal possibilities, and you never knew what would happen. alex + maddie, alex + betsy, alex + ali, rogue + peter, ororo + logan, ali + longshot, on and on :). but you knew the characters, and that they mattered, so it was exciting.

now all that happens in that department is that scott and emma will stay together after secret-keeping faux-drama, and kitty and peter are soulmates, though they're never ever together.

back on topic, alex was a ladies man :)
