Let me just reaffirm this. And on the Polaris note: the Shi'ar costume is fugly. FUGLY. Malice was pretty FUGLY too. The original outfit was by far the best, until she got into X-Factor.

Hey, I actually LIKE the Shiar costume, its very cool (and Bakla's drawing did justice to it).

The Malice one is ugly under a lot of people, but Silvestri did a lot of justice to it. I liked Malice under his pencil alone, along with the craziness of the character.

The original was cool back when, but it looks stupid right now.

As you can see from my avatar, he is my favorite X-Man. I love the classic costume. You can't go wrong with basic black. I'd like to see him in an updated version of that with modified headgear. The eggbeater was cool in its day, but it really needs the right artist to pull it off.

That's what i was thinking too. I like the characters, but i honestly think i'd like them to stay with the starjammers. They've gotten SO much focus in the past few years (and not all of it good), i'd like their characters to rest a lil and come back refreshed down the road. i just hope one of me doesnt bite it :(

I guess that is the problem with what we got at the moment. He's just in the book, no real character development, no progression, never the main character of the story.

In exchange for this we get the 4.56th Summers brother as the main character.

Well, its been over a week now since Havok & Polaris left the X-Books and I haven't posted my thoughts.
I was fully prepared for them to bow out, but my heart still exploded into a million pieces as I turned the last page and knew it was likely that I would not see Havok for at least a year minimum.

But he and Polaris went out in style.
Both were heroes and lived up to their names and I am PROUD that I am a fan of both.
They acted like true X-Men defending the one thing that is dear to both: family.

When Havok saw his own little brother kill their father, I know it hurt Havok more than anything in the world. He's been through a lot in his life, but Alex always looked up to his father. He didn't fully avange his father but he and Polaris saw an opportunity to kick Vulcan's ass and they brought him PAIN.

What this means now, is that there is no going back for Gabriel. Redemption isn't an option which I am sad about as he is a Summers and Summers are strong men inside. Death is the only answer for Gabriel for his crimes and its up to Alex to administer the punishment.
Cyclops would have been very proud of his brother, he didn't lose it and just throw himself head first into a sacrificial fight, he and Polaris tagteamed and managed to show Vulcan that he is not invincible.

Havok being accepted to lead the Starjammers was the right move forward for the character. He's been lost in the X-Men under Scott, Emma, heck even Rogue's shadow when hes meant to be the leader. Now he is a TRUE leader with noone around to get under his feet, Havok can show his true skills. And with his niece, his girlfriend and two of his fathers best friends around, I know they will show him support and let him shine as he brings justice down on the villain.

I am sad Havok & Polaris are gone but I am also very happy where they left me as no hack like Chuck Austen can write them again for the time being.

I just read this today, and it was so sweet! Probably your best, most sincere, deep post ever. And your so right too! I knew they were going to exit the scene, but they did do it in style- it was a fitting ending for them.

I bought UXM #248 today (with the infamous Havok/Dazzler jogging panel) and I've decided that had the Reavers not cut the team's time short, Dazz and Alex would have been banging in the Australia base. Girlfriend is like "Oh, Longshot quit. I'm so sad. Wanna bang Alex?"

No, but really. She talks about how their paths are "star-crossed" and adresses Alex as a "hot-bod." Oh and Alex is a pimp. He calls all the x-bitches by "Babe" and in addition to hitting on Dazzler, makes out with BOTH Polaris and Psylocke by the end of the story arc.

But yeah- I heart the Dazzler/Alex blang blangin'. She's all like concerned for him because he's getting more ruthless- cute!

The only sad thing is that that GLORIOUS running picture is only like one-fourth of the page. It should have been a two-page spread!

Mmmmmm I think my fave Havok artist is the wonderful Marc Silvestri. He must have LOVED Alex longtime because Alex was always half-naked and/or dressed in some sort of loin-cloth. Zexy.

Jim Lee obviously did some nice Havok drawings (like the infamous running pic, but sadly Lee didn't draw that much Alex.

My other favorites would be Joe Quesada's and Jeff Matsuda's versions. Larocca and Tan draw decent renditions of Havok too, but they could be better IMHO.

I think my fave Havok artist is the wonderful Marc Silvestri. He must have LOVED Alex longtime because Alex was always half-naked and/or dressed in some sort of loin-cloth. Zexy. Yes!! Excellent reason!

Austen ruined Havok for me for a minute. Then I forgave Havok, because I knew he was secretly under mind control at the time. Seriously. There are diagrams and stuff.

I got really sick of Havok/Polaris for a while, and was happy she wrote him off when he tried to fix things after the wedding. And then during the Shi'ar arc, the scene was so hot, I loved Havok/Polaris again. I hope they have lots of fun during Emporer Vulcan. And that they are actually in a normal, modern relationship, and you can actually see it. Instead of "Havok's hurt!" and she flies to console, or "Polaris is under mind control!" and he fights her to stop her, and then he consoles her. I hope they're really flirty, like during the Shi'ar arc. Well, for the minute and a half we saw of it.
