Does anyone remember the issue where Hank tested the DNA of the little girl's mutant cure and he says something to the effect of Doesnt anyone stay dead and Cyclops murmurs Jean. Was he saying that because he though the girl was a resurrected or cloned Jean by mistake or was it being said to make us believe that when in fact whatever DNA he had actually belonged to Colossus?

He didn't test the DNA of the little girl. He tested a sample of the cure that Dr. Kavita Rao had supplied him. She knew he would want to check her work, and handed it over. He found traces of Piotr's DNA in the cure. It's the same sample that Hank considers taking during the storyline. We don't know if Tilde is/was a red herring or not, or if she has a purpose behond putting a human face on the cure. But it's pretty clear that she's not Jean in any way shape or form from all the info we've seen about her.

Of course it woudl make more sense, (what he is saying) if it were jean, as taht would be somewhat of a bad thing, where as colossus being alive i doubt would create such a mode for the utterance

And then there's the whole thing about why he uttered 'jean' in the first place. Why did he?

when it comes to an xman saying "doesnt anyone stay dead" i would think jean as well at first. plus it was a way to keep piotr's return undrewraps (along with the fake phoenix image by cassaday and the fake cover to issue 5).

exactly.
Scott hears Hank say "doesn't anyone stay dead" and looked shocked, and immediately assumes he's talking about Jean.
more importantly, it served as a teaser to distract readers from the real resurrection Marvel had planned. hadn't they announced in advance that a character would come back from the dead during Whedon's first arc? If I'm correct in remembering that then they deliberately used this to manipulate readers and so catch us by surprise.
and in my case, they succeeded on all counts - that final panel left me heart in mouth, stunned. and stunned again later to discover it wasn't Jean. It's a trick, but one I think they pulled off & an in-joke for fans at Jean's constant resurrections.

It would for Hank. Considering it was his Legacy Virus Cure that took Piotr's life in the first place. Hank still felt horribly guilty for that happening, so of course he'd take finding that evidence badly. Since he thought that he was at peace, and somehow his genetic material was being used for some sort of mutant cure. :)

And then there's the whole thing about why he uttered 'jean' in the first place. Why did he?The person Hank thought was Jean was really that deceased girl with the blue and orange stripes, I think. Im not sure what the point was about the possibility of Jean coming back, since no one would have ever guessed that Colossus was coming back. It didnt mention anything in the solicitation, so I still dont get the point.

I saw a lot of rumours it was Collossus, the big metal Russian/Jean and Psylocke were all front runners for returning, however when they leaked the page, everyone thought it was Jean./

Yep, that was my reading on it too, and I have to admit Jean was the first person I thought of when Hank said that.
Out of interest, anyone got a link to that fake cover? I don't think I ever saw it.

it was a black and white shot of cyclops' head, taken from a page in another astonishing issue and blown up. http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/previews/1004/ASTXM006_COV.jpg

Because he just assumed it was Jean who was back from the dead. It was a red herring (sp?)... you were meant to be think it was Jean thats why when they were hiding why they were going to the labs from Kitty, Wolverine was with her to make you think they were hiding the fact Jean was back from Wolverine.

The Editor's did so well with this 'fake out'. making us think that Jean was coming back, Releasing a fake (and actually) inked page of the Phoenix, and there he was Colossus back, no one expected it (well some did).
And then there was Psylocke's return, the Editor's didn't do a fake out again, they just released a preview on the book, which didn't feature her, then another preivew about 3 weeks later, then the entire book, all free online and told everyone: "Just so you know, Psylockes alive so go and buy this book, and those of you who don't want to know when your favorite character is coming back and want to read it in the actually book, screw you."

they did release the uncanny cover with psylocke's hair colored green. and they didnt have the cover for 456?(with just her face on it) in the solicts. so they still made an attempt.
