Okay, I'm back to being able to poke my nose in here regularly after devoting time to moving and then catching up on the work that fell by the wayside during the move. Of course, I have to do it all again in six weeks.

So ... anybody see this?:

Maybe I'm just being a curmudgeon, but does it strike anybody as ... oh, I dunno, WRONG ... that H.G. Wells' name doesn't appear anywhere on the cover? I mean, it's only HIS story, utilizing "prose excerpts" that I guess Steve Niles, um, copied.

If you did that sort of thing in school, they'd fail your butt for plagarism.

I am completely with you on this. It would have been so easy to just go ahead and put... "H.G. Wells: The War Of the Worlds" on the cover instead of just ignoring it. But the sadder thing is that many young readers who have no sense of history will think that this is a rip-off of the newest Steven Spielberg/Tom Cruise movie.

Well, it should be interesting to see if this is followed up by Newsarama or not.

When was War of the Worlds a horror story?

I don't know. When was war not horrific?

War of the Worlds was a horror story when a ton of ugly, scary aliens came to Earth with super-advanced death machines and started burning people to death and razing cities.

Well, sure, when you put it that way... :p

Steve Niles is a filler writer. Everything he writes is somebody elses work, he doesn't even modernize it in a way that makes it cool.
