Request for Someone in the Know

I have a friend who is asking what the synopsis for Hulk #182 (Hammer and Anvi) is. I have never read it, nor can I find what really happened in the issue.

If anyone can give me a brief rundown, I'd appreciate it. :)

Ah, Crackerjack Jackson. And, of course, this issue sells high because of the Wolvie bit. :rolleyes:

Canadian authorities pick up Wolverine after his unsuccessful attempt at taking out the Hulk, despite him saying he almost had him. The Hulk wanders off, meets Crackerjack Jackson, an old black man/vagabond who's on his way to visit his son in the pen. Hulk travels with him, sharing food, stories, and laughs --- Jackson even teaches Hulk his ABC's.

Meanwhile, 2 prison escapees chained together are making their way to freedom when they come upon a dying alien who they think means them harm. Firing upon the alien with a stolen pistol, the bullets actually become the aliens' saving grace as his body was failing from a fatal metal deficiency. As a 'reward', the alien turns the convicts' chain into a symbiotic link/weapon that they in turn decide to use again the prison they escaped from.

Once Jackson & the Hulk arrive to visit the son they find the prison half destroyed by the new team of Hammer & Anvil, Hammer being Jackson's son. As the Hulk steps into battle, an energy bolt meant for him accidentally strikes Jackson, killing him. The duo almost get the best of the Hulk until he breaks their chain, destroying their powers & the cybernetic link, which drives them insane. The Hulk, saddened by his new friends' death, takes his body away, buries him, & etches a headstone with his finger using the writing skills Jackson taught him during their journey together.

Thanks a lot Sharcque, and you're most welcome, Jomero. That was my 3rd issue ever of IH, the 1st 2 being 180-181---brings back a lot of good memories. BTW, that was Wolvie's 3rd appearance---we would see him next in Giant-Size X-Men #1. H&A, the last I saw of them was a Marvel Fanfare issue in where they had the drop on Hulk but then got blasted by Scourge. CJ Jackson appeared a little later (than IH 182) in a 'dream episode' issue; can't recall which one, though...
