Was there an enemy race or inner "rebels" responsible for its utter destruction?
And if it was an enemy race... where are they today?

I think post-crisis it's been portrayed as a natural disaster helped along by the actions of Kryptonians themselves. I loved the idea (not mine, sadly) that some aliens discovered that this horribly Xenophobic and emotionally cold culture would, when put under simple yellow sunlight, become unto gods among mortal beings. In order to stop this from occuring and creating a race of limited super-beings they destroyed Krypton just as scientists like Jor-el were discovering that the yellow sun would give them super powers. Alas, they didn't quite succeed.

At one time every kryptonian had seven clone bodies for spare parts. A group called balck zero fought for clone rights using terrior. years before krypton exploded a bonb was placed in krypton center that set off a slow chain reaction, creating green k that was slowly poising the planet before it was blown up. Jor-el tool the developing fetus of his son in the birting matrix [krypyonians becoming unemotional vulcan's wanna be's didn't even make babies the old fashion fun way!'] placed it on a rocket and sent it to earth, not only to save him but give him a chance to live and be raised in a emotional and more human world. PS when lara saw an exsample of a earth farmer working in the fields with out a shirt she threw a fit and all but passed out! calling us savages.
