Over 25 years ago was a great British comic called Starlord. After 22 issues it was absorbed into 2000AD. Now in my humble opinion at that time Starlord was superioir in terms of art and stories to 2000AD (with the exception of Judge Dredd) and sales figures apparently were higher. However absorbed it was.
It was a brilliant magazine and the memories are really strong for me. So ccheck out the Starlord (http://www.watchthestars.sevenpennynightmare.co.uk/) website (still in development)to see what it was all about.
Yep, I was a bit of a fan. As I recall, it was also printed on higher quality paper than 2000AD was at the time.
It's so long ago I can hardly remember the strips but looking at the web site reminded me; did Ro-Busters and Strontium Dog really start off in "Starlord". They quickly became 2000AD mainstays, didn't they?

Better quality paper and more colour as well.
And yea Ro-Busters and SD most definetly came from StarLord. I remember boycotting 2000AD because of the other quality strips that got dropped.
The boycott didn't last too long though....or have much of an impact, I don't think anyone noticed.

I started collecting STARLORD when I was 12 years old and remember being devastated when it was taken over / lost.
I still have the complete collection of STARLORD and continued to collect through about another 5 years... into 2000AD and it's subsequent takeover of TORNADO also.
My youngest son has just turned 13 and so I have taken them down from the attic and decided to read them all again after all these years. ;-)

I always thought Starlord was a bit of a rip-off because it had those insanely great covers which had absolutely nothing to do with the stories inside.
Remember when they amalgamated 2000 AD and Tornado and the relatively mundane Tornado characters suddenly got kidnapped by aliens and stuff?
Personally I want to see 2000 AD and Beano.
