Damn Chuck Rozanski and his 60-85% clearance sales! :D

Here's what I got this time around:

Batman Adventures #7 (sans trading card). This completes my run of the first (and best) of the '90s animated titles. God, I miss Mike Parobeck.

Batman and the Outsiders #2-9 and 11, completing the first year and a half of this '80s team title. The stories aren't as good as I remember but it's Jim Aparo in fine form (if no longer in his prime) and that alone is worth the price of admission.

Batman/Wildcat #2. Finishes the run but it's a shamelessly padded story with really crappy Image-influenced mid-90s art. If I wasn't such a JSA junkie, I wouldn't have bothered.

The Eternals #1-3. This is all berk's fault.

The New Teen Titans #10-16, 30 and Tales of the New Teen Titans #1-4. Together, these books complete my run of the pre-Crisis Wolfman/Perez Titans material. As I've noted in previous threads, I find Wolfman's angsty melodrama hard to take in large doses but great entertainment when read a few issues at a time. I'll be especially glad to re-read the storyline in which the Brotherhood of Evil finally pay for killing the Doom Patrol.

Starman #54, 57 and 60. I now have all issues through #60. Only a handful more to finish one of my favorite series of the '90s.

That's it. Good stuff (mostly) from three different decades, all for $40 and change. And now if you'll excuse me I have more reading to do.

I read those 3 books today, Kurt - we'll have to compare notes.

Good haul, overall.

Compare notes on the "Classics I've read" thread. I get lonely over there.

Batman Adventures #7 (sans trading card). This completes my run of the first (and best) of the '90s animated titles. God, I miss Mike Parobeck.

My sons and I enjoyed the Batman Adventures Comics, especially Mad Love, and Mike Parobeck, who also had a great run on the Fly Impact title. We also enjoyed Scott McCloud's Superman Adventures run very much.

Starman #54, 57 and 60. I now have all issues through #60. Only a handful more to finish one of my favorite series of the '90s.

I missed all of these, which in retrospect I regret dearly. I also missed the majority of Jerry Orway's Captain Marvel comics. It's the penalty of being really annoyed at what the mainstream industry was doing just prior to the crash, especially Marvel. Except for the Busiek, Waid and Stern books, Marvel hasn't seen too much of my money in the past ten years. DC has fared much better, especially their Homage and ABC imprints.

Not a bad bunch of comics Kurt. What holes do you still have to fill for Eternals?

When Cei-U logs on to the Mile High site, the entire staff throws up its arms in dismay. Mile High owner Chuck Rozanski then slowly shakes his head from side to side. "We're not making money today," he mutters. "This guy's taking us to the cleaners. It's almost like he can instantly sense our weaknesses, then strike like a cobra before we can defend ourselves."

As for Mike Parobeck and the whole DC animated style, I truly believe that 10 years from now, all of these series - by John Delaney, Min Ku, Ty Templeton, Rick Burchett, etc. - will hold up a lot better than what passes for "mainstream" today.

Heh. Everything but #1-3. I had the complete run years ago but it did not survive the Great Collection Purge of '88.

I do the same thing. I've found tons of these in 3/$1 boxes and pick them up for my boys. I also recently picked up the Superman Adventures Digests for cheap...one for each boy.

Nice Haul, Kurt. It's been a while since I've read BATO, but I remember it fairly fondly. Maybe it was the Aparo art after all.

Hi, I'm new here. I thought I would start here on Cei-U post because he is the reason I joined this site. Cei-U is a friend of mine since I was 12 (1976). Furthermore, my friendship with him has improved my understanding comic (art-work/storytelling) greatly. If I ever make it, I will need him to maintain it. Although He claims otherwise, I have not surpassed my master.

Warning: THE NEW TEEN TITANS No. 16 includes a 16-page preview, the very first appearance of CAPTAIN CARROT AND HIS AMAZING ZOO CREW by Roy Thomas, Ross Andru, Yours Truly and Bob Smith! (And apparently DC hasn't learned its lesson; an upcoming issue of TEEN TITANS will feature an all-new "Captain Carrot" sequence by Geoff Johns and Yours Truly!)

Sorry, Kurt!

Aloha,

Scott!

Sorry, Kurt!

Other than forcing me to buy an issue of Teen Titans, there's nothing to apologise for, Scott.
