Question for Harry Potter readers

Okay I'm in the middle of Harry Potter V:The Order of the Pheonix, and Hermione suspects that Malfoy sees Sirius Black in dogform at platform 9 3/4.

Since when did Malfoy learn about Sirius Black being a dog, and why wouldn't he immediatly call the authorities upon recognizing him?

Oh yeah I have read books I-IV, so feel to discuss them without fear of spoiling anything, but please don't spoil V for me. Thanks in advance.

I believe Snape witnessed Black's change in book 3, and he might have revealed it as public knowledge.

As for not calling the authorities, Malfoy's loyalties lie elsewhere, namely with his father and the Death Eaters.

There's also the possibility that Malfoy learned of it from Rita Skeeter... I think she might have overheard something about Sirius having a dog form.

Seems like there was something else, though, besides the two possibilities mentioned, but I can't remember what it was. Argh.

I think the secret was spilled back in number 3 most likely. Since snape was so mad about loosing his chance to see Black dead he probably spilled the beans. WHen they were talking about Black in dog form in four the kids were actually very good to just call him snuffles so she hear that secret.
And on the authorities the Malfoy's would most likely tell Voldemort instead. I also think Draco would rather hold the secret over Harry's head for a while just to watch him be afraid.

Well he is an evil prat I'd be paranoid of him also. He's caused them more petty problems throughout the book then anyone else that goes to school there, and you know there's got to be a few more people there causeing them problems.

That answer makes the most sense to me. If Malfoy knew Snuffles was Surius, wouldn't getting a friend of Harry's thrown in Azkaban be pretty satisfying?

Draco knows that Sirius is a dog Animagus because his dad told him. Lucius Malfoy presumably learned this from Wormtail. And your question about the authorities being contacted will be answered later.
