There's not a ton of comics that I'm buying this week-which is good, cause next week looks like a particuarly wallet busting one.

Adam Strange #7

Bloodhound #10

Nightwing #107 - If this is the beginning of Phil Hester's run on the book then I'm all over it.

Iron Man #3 - Why is this so late? I think that Gradov's art is waay cool to look at, but its ridiculous that this book should be so delayed. In the future either have Gradov stick to covers, or have him pencil at least 3 issues before beginning to release the book. I'm sure that marvel cant be happy that they relaunch a book, get Warren Ellis to write it, and it never comes out.

New Thunderbolts #7 - I've liked the last 2 issues a lot. I hope that this book sticks around, but after reading the sales figures I'm a little worried about this and Cable/Deadpool , another fun book that Nicienza writes.

Ultimates 2 #5 - The best book in the business, along with Astonishing . Nuff said. Its always a big deal to me when this book comes out, considering how late it was in the past.

Wow! Not a whole lot shipping for me this week:

DC COMICS
NIGHTWING #107 $2.25
Not a fan of Devin Grayson's initial run on the book. Willing to stick around for a few more issues to determine if Phil Hester's art will keep me onboard.

MARVEL
MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #13 $2.99
This gets the flip test. Not too keen on the preview art I've seen so far.

Gotham Central #30 - yes!
Mary Jane: Homecoming #2 - Tracie's pick of the week (I assume)
Adam Strange #7 - good stuff
Desperadoes #4 - (came out last week, but I didn't get it.)

Not sure if it's on the list for this week or next, but I just got my copy of FLIGHT VOLUME TWO. Holy crap. It's even prettier than the first book, and clocks in at a whopping 432 color pages. For $25, it's the steal of the year. I've only read Michel Gagne's contribution so far -- and it's classic Gagne -- but there's not a stinker page of art in the book. I keep flipping through it in awe of everything. Must buy.

Flight Volume 2? OH man. I don't think I can afford to get that. I want to. That list of creators looks great. But I have not looked at or reread Volume 1 since I put it on my shelf, and I need to be more careful with what I buy lately. I am sure to flip through it, and I am a weak weak man. So maybe.

I forgot to add last week that I had ordered INVINCIBLE Vol 4. I got it in yesterday and re-read Vol's 1-3 and then devoured #4! :D

· BATMAN STRIKES #8 - I may stop this at #10

· BLACK PANTHER #3 - I like this so far.
· DISTRICT X #12 - End of the arc, I think. Great stuff.
· IRON MAN #3 - Nice! I hope the wait was worth it!
· MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #13 - New team = me :)
· NEW THUNDERBOLTS #7 - Lovin' this stuff!
· THOR SON OF ASGARD VOL 2 WORTHY DIGEST TP - So psyched about this. The 1st digest was very cool.

ULTIMATE X-MEN #58 - New story.
ULTIMATES 2 #5 - NICE! I'm lovin' this Loki deal.

Haven't received my box yet, so legally I still get to post.

Action Comics #826
Cannot remember if we pre-ordered.
Adam Strange #7
So long as it has a clean ending, this will be one of my favorite DCU minis in YEARS.
Batman Year One Deluxe Edition HC
YES!!! Why does no one else have this on their list? I'm really quite surprised.
Fables #36
While this has become a definite wait-for-trade, the Neverwhere preview might have enticed us to order this issue.
Gotham Central #30
I still get excited when I see this on the list.
Majestic #4
Just like Waid's LoSH, issue #3 was just that extra push needed to make me keep this series.
Nightwing #107
Overall, I really liked Grayson's run. So with Tarantula gone, I'm looking forward to Devin's return. And I gotta confess, Phil Hester artwork don't suck neither. ;)
Tom Strong's Terrific Tales Book Two HC
Expect the trend from book one to continue: hate Young Tom stories, love Jonni Future stories, find the third stories to cute and generally worthwhile.

Beyond Avalon #2
P adores this already.
Flight vol. 2 GN
Pre-ordered! Very eager to read to this. :D
Imaginaries #1
Initially, I wasn't as sold on this as I was with Lullaby, but that was because I misunderstood the premise. Now I really want this!
Lions, Tigers, and Bears #3
Got my T-shirt in the mail yesterday!!!

Bullseye: Greatest Hits TP
Mmmmmaybe, because of Augie's recommendation. I do not like Steve Dillion and I haven't read enough of Way's stuff to know where to judge him. I might just flip-test it at Borders.
Iron Man #3
Finally! Ellis! I'm pissed that this is late because I don't like in the art in the first place.
Mary Jane: Homecoming #2
Yes!!!
New Thunderbolts #7
I would love to switch to trade, but the sales figures have got me worried.
She Hulk vol. 2: Superhuman Law TP
Pre-ordered! Dan Slott is really becoming one of my names to watch.
Supreme Power vol. 1 HC
Pre-ordered! I'm enjoying this series greatly.

Wait for Trade
--------------
Blade of the Immortal
Once I finish my Usagi trades, this is my next long-term project.
Conan and the Jewels of Gwahlur
PCR! Sold!
Green Arrow
More than likely. I really like Winick, but Fowler's kinda making me lose interest.
Powers
Have no doubts over this being collected.
Ultimate X-Men
I think P is thinking about this one.

That seems to be it.

BATMAN: YEAR ONE is on my list, but it's a mail order item, so I won't be getting it until the beginning of May. That's why I didn't include it on my weekly shopping list.

POWERS just switched to glossy paper. Looks ten times better now.

ERIC (aka "Patricia's husband") -- I tried very hard not to be tempted by the deluxe hardcover edition of BATMAN YEAR ONE, since I already own the first edition of the trade. That's not to say if I saw it somewhere I wouldn't get roped in to buying it.

Also, while I'm glad LEGION won you, MAJESTIC lost me. It's a good book, no bones about it. It's just not grabbing me as wholeheartedly as I'd like it to, and I'm really starting to look for any cuts I can make. I'm getting pretty overwhelmed by my reading list. My full-time job and my renued efforts for making comics it cutting my reading time and there's some books I'm finding I just don't even remember what's going on from one issue to another. Plus, I'm feeling major guilt over some "trade-only" series that I've lost touch with. I'm rediculously behind in 100 BULLETS and I'd really like to make an effort to get back to finishing THE SANDMAN if I can find enough room.

Also, the 25 cent preview issue of IMAGINARIES really surpised me. It didn't seem like something I cared much about until I actually read it. If they end up putting a trade together, I'd definately consider buying it.

AUGIE (aka "Augie")-- While YAY for the glossy paper on POWERS, why the heck didn't they have that from the beginning?!!! I'd figured their move to Marvel would've guaranteed them glossy paper since every other Marvel book uses it, but instead they launched with the exact same paper stock they had at Image! Only with #10 do they randomly have nice glossy paper! It boggles me, but I'm glad it happened. It DOES look great. So much of the mood was getting lost in that newsprint.

Augie De Blieck Jr.

Tracie --> You're right; they should have made this move a long time ago. I didn't realize just how muddy looking the book was getting in recent months until I saw the glossy pages. It's like a revelation. The art pops off the page again. I thought at first it was just a coloring problem, but that's not it. The colors were getting absorbed into the paper too much and muddying up the whole thing. It's much better now.

One of the initial promises of the Icon pickup of POWERS was that everything would be the same. Even the price stayed at $2.95 instead of going up to $2.99. I guess they're course-correcting for that now. Better late than never.

Well, this is no fun! One of the highlights of the week is reading through your shopping list and wondering where you find the time to read all the comics that you've been getting! :)

lol

Thanks.

You probably needn't worry much. The amout of books I'll have NO WAY of letting go of will still probably be a rediculous amount. I'd like just it to be a bit more of a managable rediculous. These are all just pipe dreams, though. I'll lose maybe two books and then still find 5 more. [sighs]

OK, Augie and Tracie are forgiven for the Year One oversight. Everyone else? Hmmm?

Tracie, I think the problem with Majestic is the lack of a supporting cast. Majestros is too damn boring to support 22 pages of internal monologue. I think I liked #3 because it had more characters in it. If we don't start to have a regular supporting cast by next issue, then my "Keeping this book" announcement may end up being premature.

I already own the no-frills collection. And I think I have the original issues in storage. But even if I didn't, for every new edition of a comic I get I need to not get some other book.

Please understand.

I have the Complete Frank Miller Batman, which since DK2 is outdated a little - but whatever, and Year One is in that. I'm sure the extras are cool, but I've got other things to get before getting that story again.

Iron Man #3
Finally! Ellis! I'm pissed that this is late because I don't like in the art in the first place.
Normally I would start a "What I Read Last Week" thread, but given the comment I made above, I decided to post this here.

I loved Iron Man #3 and that love is in large part due to the art.

There I said it.

Move along, nothing to see here.
