Has anyone else seen this new cartoon? I think it's actually pretty funny. I just saw the first episode the other day. Superman comes and visits the boy who found Krypto. I guess Ace the Bathound is suppose to be in it too but he hasn't shown up yet. There's more information at www.cartoonnetwork.com and some little games you can play! Neat.

Yes there is.

In the comic book version, Krypto was found by Bibbo after he found the dog discarded on the docks of Metropolis.

Then during Superman's return to Krypton through the Phantom Zone, we learn that Krypto was a dog that belonged to the House of El. On their return from Krypton through the Phantom Zone, Krypto returned with them. So obviously under the yellow sun, Krypto returned quite unlike any dog that inhabited earth.

Krypto is something of a badass in the comic book version though. Reason being is because there was actually an instance where Krypto almost killed Mongul if Superman didnt stop the tussle. Superman quickly then confined Krypto to the Fortress of Solitude. Since it was easily obvious that Krypto could be very dangerous if provoked.

Superboy now has Krypto under his custody, and cares for the dog now.

Hope this helps, sikkbones.

Theres only one as far as I know. My memory is fading since I've been up for awhile, but I'm fairly sure that it was Krypto.
It would make sense since it was Superboy who took Krypto out of the Fortress and decided to take care of him.

There are two. The one Bibbo found was an ordinary Earth dog with no super powers. Bibbo actually named him "Krypton", (like the planet), but when he got the license tag printed, it turned out the deal was only for six letters and it would have cost extra to add the "n". Bibbo got angry, refusing to pay the extra on principle, and henceforth the dog was renamed "Krypto".
That dog didn't get along well with Kon-El and often growled at him. I don't know what eventually became of the mutt.

The new version of Superdog came from the alternate version of Krypton in the Phantom Zone. It's interesting to note that his super-senses are keener than Clark's. Once when the dog was staying at the Kent apartment, Batman was spying on them through a telescope, (for reasons I forget), and Clark was completely unaware. But when Bats shifted his view slightly, he suddenly found Krypto looking RIGHT AT HIM and growling menacingly. One of the few times we see Batman get rattled.

Well of course the dog's senses will be keener ....if they were under a red sun with no powers they'd be keener cuz he's a dog , right ?

I've GOT to read that !! That sounds so cool !! I've always been a big fan of Krypto's .... missed him when he was written out of continuity . But then hell ...I still miss Clark being Superboy .
Hope to catch the 'toon soon .

Well what do you know. So there are actually two Krypto's? One ordinary. One super.

Guess I always assumed that the same dog that Bibbo reluctantly named "Krypto" was infact, the very same dog. Learn something new everyday.

The cartoon itself was pretty stupid and featured Streaky the Supercat and a Bat-Dog as well (of which there was one, sadly). But then I'm certainly not the target audience, I'm too old by probably 15 years or so, so I wasn't really expecting some marvel of animation.

Yeah, the target demographic is probably around 5 years old. But I doubt that will stop some people from complaining it pales in comparison to BTAS.

My girlfriends nephew thought it was great, he's 3. I had already gotten him a Krypto plush a while back, little guy loves dogs so it's right up his alley.

Currently living with Hillary, Superboy's former housesitter and Hawaiian gal pal. He makes a brief appearance in Kesel's second run of Superboy.

It's too bad they never collected that story involving the Krypto/Batman interaction that's been mentioned here. I thought it would of fit well into the Superman: President Lex book!

*misses non-powered Krypto*
