Why does the CBR server keep going down? The forums aspect has become unreliable since it goes down between several minutes to several hours. Why doesn't CBR invest a server that is reliable & does not either freeze or go down periodically?

If pay sites did this on a regular basis, they would not only lose business but subscribers...

Jonah is working on the problem. Just remember that the CBR forums is a free site. The forums do not make any kind of profit for CBR.

Well they aren't charging anyone to use these forums. That hurts their ability to invest in a better server.

It costs $120 a year to host my much smaller traveled site since it just started. I can just imagine what its costing to host this site with its years of being around and it being so well known. And that's coming out of my pocket without anything coming back (unless the paypal donations button works) other than this is something fun to do and to hang out and bs with people about comics since no one living around me cares about them.

It's been especially bad the past couple of days and we're not quite certain why. If you'd like to cough up the $1500 cash to get an equivalent server, go right ahead.

And seeing as how this affects only the forums and not the main CBR site, it's a slightly lower priority. The forums don't make money and are completely free to anyone using them. I have to prioritize. It will be fixed eventually, though.

It seems to be doing better lately.

But when it does go down, my subscribed threads disappear unless I tell it list all. If someone makes a post that I haven't read, it will be gone from the list anyway. Wierdness.

It is doing a slight bit better. At some point this weekend I'm going to take the server offline for a short bit and upgrade the memory from 1 gig to 2 gigs. That might help a bit.

As frustrating as it was for all of you, it was even more frustrating on my end I'd have to say. It'll be nice not having this to worry about ... let's hope this fixes it!

Well, bcause it's so much easier to complain than to praise, let me say how thankful I am for CBR and all the hard work Jonah and the Mods do here.

And the pricing point is very attractive.
