When you're a child, everything must seem bigger than it really is.
I got a letter from the Sharps the other day (actually, a postcard that had to be included in an envelope because Kanako had a drawing for me too). Kanako had drawn (in crayon) a street in Tokyo. What was amusing was that the skyscrapers, the trees, and the people were all about the same size (this isn't the first time; she's drawn similar pictures before). :)
Two days ago, I got a phone call from the Sharps. Kanako told me that her dad had taken her fishing in Yokohama. I asked if they had caught any fish, and she said that they did...a big one. I asked her how big the fish was; her reply: "100 feet!"
...
Apparently, Kanako and her daddy fished Godzilla out of Yokohama Harbor. :)

Yeah, when I was a kid everything seemed bigger.
*Looks down*
Sigh... how I (and any partner I have) miss that. :p

Somehow, that seems oddly appropriate.
Interesting topic, btw. It's neat, seeing the world through the eyes of a child, again.

Evil Buried Alien notes the perspective shift:
When you're a child, everything must seem bigger than it really is.
Aye. I remember having to go back to my old elementary school when I was about 25 because it was the polling place for voting. It seemed tiny! It got worse when I had to go to the bathroom. Bizarre feeling, that.

Sigh...one of these days we're going to have to get her together with Typo Tot and have a "Cute-off". :)

I had a similar experience returning to one of my elementary schools 20 years later. The bathroom there had one of those peeing-trough style communal urinals that seemed HUGE as a small tike.
Well, while I was TCB, a little old man came in and also began to use the trough. I thought nothing of it until I was washing my hands and relized that it was my old principal, who was also HUGE in my childhood rememberance. I felt like I'd gone through the looking glass.
