My LCS didn't get the Queen & Country HC in this week, so I went ahead and splurged on some books that I had purged this year (try saying that 10 times fast!).

The Walking Dead #17 - As Augie mentioned in a previous post, there wasn't a murder mystery to be found in this issue at all. We all know who the killer is, the rest of the survivors found out who the killer is and a decision was made of how to deal with the situation. It's an interesting read and not at all what I expected from this book (not that that should be much of a surprise - Kirkman has done a fantastic job of keeping readers off balance since the first issue).

Outsiders #20 & 21 - I dropped this book after the horrid child slavery/America's Most Wanted/John Walsh arc. I had read some good things about the current storyline and picked up these two issues. Fairly light reads, took me about 2 minutes per book, had some interesting developments with the Arsenal secret informer story, Karl Kerchel's art was great, Carlos D'Anda's wasn't (I'm still going to say the coloring is waaaay too dark for the paper stock) and I really need to track down a copy of #22 now. Deathstroke is everywhere these days, eh?

Ultimate Spider-man #75 - Ugh, this storyline is padded. Where's the frickin' Hobgoblin?

Deadshot #5 - That was a disappointing ending. All those changes in the first half of the mini only to return to the status quo at the end? Can't imagine having any interest in reading this mini again - looks like this will be up on eBay with my next set of auctions.

Young Avengers #2 - I'd previously decided to wait for the trade. Afer reading this issue, I'm sure that this storyline will definitely read better in collected form. The plot was moved along a little, the art from Chueng was purty and I'm once again thinking that I'm going to wait for the trade. Being an Avengers newbie, I'm still not sure that I have any interest in Kang. Is he that big of a villain for the Avengers?

Marvel Team-Up #7 - I love seeing Kirkman utilize some of the old school Marvel characters that we haven't seen in years! The Constrictor? When was the last time he appeared in a Marvel book? With my luck, it was probably last month in one of the books that I don't read!

Desperadoes: Banners of Gold #4 - why do IDW books have to cost $3.99? I read this and felt that not a lot happened. Anybody else reading this book?

Justice League: Elite #10 - How is Doug Mahnke cranking out this book and Batman at the same time? I wonder if these issues were done before he started Batman? We are hurtling toward the conclusion of this series and it's going to be a good one! I'd love to see Mahnke get a shot at The Flash if/when Porter leaves.

I still need to read Teen Titans #20 ~ 22 (previously purged as well), Superman/Batman #18 & New Avengers #1 ~ 4. I previously had no interest in NA, but the House of M crossover has made me give the new series a shot.

That would be the colorist's fault then (or DC for not giving them a higher paper stock) not Carlos'. ....what? Defensive? I'm not being defensive!

^_^;

Sorry.

Well... now that you mention it... He's been in THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE, CABLE/DEADPOOL and SECRET WAR in the last month or so. To be fair, SECRET WAR and NEW AVENGERS are making it very hard to declair any B-list villain "unused" these day. Bendis is just having way too much fun with his Marvel Handbooks.

I'm waiting for the trade on this one. $4 a month is far too much, though I enjoy the series greatly.

This is my first series that I've gotten from IDW and was wondering how reliable they are with collecting their mini-series. Then I saw the August solicits:

DESPERADOES: BANNERS OF GOLD TPB
Written by Jeff Mariotte, art by Jeremy Haun, art by John Cassaday.

Hard-hitting action and supernatural terror in the Old West! Critically acclaimed and nominated for top awards in the horror field, Desperadoes has been a groundbreaking title since its first issue. With "Banners of Gold," Gideon Brood, Jeremy Betts, and Abby DeGrazia move to IDW for the first time, in an adventure that teams them with a spiritualist who escapes from a small town‹only to walk right into something far worse.

120 pages, $19.99

Actually costs $0.04 more to buy the trade. Wonder what the online discount will be? I get 20% at my LCS, but I have feeling that khepri or DCBS could probably beat that.
