View Full Version : Alternate Futures, Realities, and time traveling X-men.

Where the you it or not, alternate futures and realities are part of the X-men. From Futures like 'Days of Future Past' to realities like 'Age of Apocalypse'.

These futures and realities have dumped their good and bad characters upon the normal MU. Such heroes like Rachel Grey, Bishop and Nate Grey and villians like 'Sat-Yr-9' (Courney Ross), Holocaust and Trevor Fitzroy.

So this thread is for discusion on these realities and futures of the Omniverse and their reject characters.

Such discussion could include, your favorite alternate future or reality, favorite characters of them, how these characters could be used in a better way. As well as the many What If? alternate realities and/or any alternate reality or Future that you think would be a good idea to happen. And your favorite Exiles story or world.

You could also post theories on these realities and characters.

Such as the theory that if anyone went back in time and changed things, then why Bishop was weirdly immune to this chang of the past or present.

can you post a list of which What If! issues featured the x-men?

Was Wolverine: Days of Future Past set in the same timeline as the orignal DOFP?

I'm guessing no due to Jubilee etc. appearing and it was just a way to help secure some buys by putting DOFP on there. Still an alright mini mind.

*which What If! world would you most like to see a comic return to, Fury?

A good question, my friend. I myself have read few What if? issue and fewer X-men related ones. But:

The What if? X-men issues are:

VOL 1:

What if the Phoenix had not died? #27
What if Dazzler had become the herald of Galactus? #33
What if the Beast and the Thing continued to mutate? #37

VOL 2:

What if the X-Men lost Inferno? #6
What if Wolverine was an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.? #7
What if the X-Men died on their first mission? #9
What if the X-Men had stayed in Asgard? #12
What if Wolverine battled Conan the Barbarian? #16
What if Wolverine was lord of the vampires? #24
What if Phoenix had not died? (Part 1 of 2) #32
What if Phoenix rose again? (Part 2 of 2) #33
What if Storm of the X-Men had remained a thief? #40
What if Wolverine had married Mariko? #43
What if Cable had destroyed the X-Men? (Part 1 of 2) #46
What if Magneto took over the U.S.A.? (Part 1 of 2) #47
What if Wolverine led Alpha Flight? #59
A What if X-Men wedding album #60
What if Wolverine battled Weapon X? #62
What if Archangel fell from grace? #65
What if Rogue possessed the power of Thor? #66
What if Stryfe killed the X-Men? #69
What if Mr. Sinister formed the X-Men? #74
What if Blink from Generation X had not died? #75
What if Legion had killed Magneto? #77
What if Storm had the power of Phoenix? #79
What if the Age of Apocalypse had not ended? #81 (this ones good as it did happen)
What if Shard had lived instead of Bishop? #84
What if Magneto ruled all mutants? #85
What if... starring Cyclops and Havok: Their early years, their darkest fears! #90
What if... starring Cannonball's little brother, Josh-- and his pet Sentinel! #92
What if... starring Wolverine: A man no more #93
What if... starring Juggernaut: The kingdom of Cain #94
What if... starring Rogue: Children in the attic #98
What if... starring Gambit: The greatest secret of the Marvel Universe revealed! #100
What if... starring Archangel: Death and disobedience #101
What if... starring The Uncanny X-Men: With Phoenix possessed... who will save Professor X... from the fury of Colossus? #110

And the most recent What if? 'What if Prof X and Magneto formed the x-men together?' Which I didn't really like.
I think that's all of them, all having their own alternate reality with them and a number (can't name them though).

The main one I like is the one Based around Rogue possisng Thor's power.

we could also discuss alternate universe/timeline stories we'd like to see told

for example, i'd like to see an What If! alt version of 616 in which The Fury destroys all superbeings on earth.

and see what happens next.

what does The Fury do when his programmed miassion has been completed? how does earth develop witohut any superbeings, good or bad?

does The Fury destroy all superbeings with amazing powers, or does he ignore those like The Punisher who are the pinnacle of human devlopment. If not, does Frank Castle rule the world?

I feel these questions must be answered. i want to see all the 616 heroes heroes die at The Fury's hands

but how would you, kill Diamond Lil, Fury?

AS i said in the first post. :)

That would indeed rule.

what does The Fury do when his programmed miassion has been completed? how does earth develop witohut any superbeings, good or bad?
After The Fury's mission was complete on Earth-238, it remained inactive until more spuerhumans emerged.

does The Fury destroy all superbeings with amazing powers, or does he ignore those like The Punisher who are the pinnacle of human devlopment. If not, does Frank Castle rule the world? This Frank Caslte may prove a nuisence, but if he were to engange the Fury at any point in battle, he would be come a threat and be exterminated.

As do I.

Diamond Lil? *Checks powers* The Fury was able to penitrate Captain Britain's persoanl force field. He's would be no different. It would just be a case of setting the Sinoic Ion nanno to the correct frequency to penetrate the sheild.

the secret was that the MU are actually just comic books

i miss the 2099 series. x-men and x-nation had some great characters. also, in 20 genesis, there was this character who led us to believe was cable. marvel never revealed whats going on with him

another reality i like to mention is the last issue of the second what if series. it introduced the offsprings of marvel characters. im really hoping the exiles explores this reality

This Frank Castle may prove a nuisence, but if he were to engange the Fury at any point in battle, he would be come a threat and be exterminated

understood.

but maybe he leaves The Fury hibernating until superbeings re-emerge, and rules the world anyway. and i think that is a cool additional element to your What If! tale, showing how with all superbeings destroyed the likes of Frank Castle become top of the heap.

it could even be a two-aprt story - part one, everyone against you

part two, you go into hibernation and Frank Castle takes over the world. and we learn whether on this world that is a good or a bad thing.

Diamond Lil? *Checks powers* The Fury was able to penitrate Captain Britain's persoanl force field. He's would be no different. It would just be a case of setting the Sinoic Ion nanno to the correct frequency to penetrate the sheild.

Diamond Lil has no personal forcefield. i don't think your sionic Ion nano would therefore have any effect. but i could be wrong and if not it would be interesting to see

even if her skin survives your onslaught, you could trap her under a collapsed building, or starve her of oxygen. i'm sure if you cover her nose and mouth for long enough she'll suffocate like anyone else. but do you think fast enough to come up with such ideas?

also if Franklin richards regained his relaity altering powers, if he could suck you into an alternate dimension before oyu know what he's doing; presumably when confronting a group of powered opponents you attack the one who initially appears to be the greatest threat first? if you don't know whom you face, and are fighting the Fantastic Four, would Franklin would appear to be the least thrreatening of them all to your sensors, if his powers are inactive?

then the stress of seeing his folks exterminated by you might defuse the psychic circuit breakers that prevent him using his powers, and before you know it you're in an alternate universe.

is your first priority then returning to 616 to finish the job, or destroying all superbeings in your new home?

If Franklin Richard were to become a threat, he would stand as much chance as Jaspers was. And The Fury won that battle. The fury has also shown signs of being able to adapt to get to any reality to complete it's mission.

Corsair: turned into a Brood and died...
Carol Danvers: Cut up by WeaponX.
Dead Man Wade: Head teleported off by Nightcrawler. :o
Destiny: Collapsed from stress when touching Bishop (I think).
Domino: Brain-fried by X-Man.
Cypher: Killed by Shadow King in a shot meant for Destiny.

one of my favorite alternate timelines was the one in bishop: the last xman. bishop left a 616 kid there, michael, so it should be revisited at some point hopefully. michael could even become a villain for bishop, because i know i would be pissed if i was left in another timeline.

Angel: Sacrificed himself somehow.

Wore lots of bombs, went on a suicide run into Apocalypse main base.

Blob: killed by Dark Beast's experiments.
More directly killed by Cyclops' optic blast.

Caliban: Brain-fried by X-man.
Stabbed by Toad, actually. Caliban and Toad were having a swordfight and Toad won.

Grizzly: Brain-fried by X-Man.
I have to check this one, but I'm pretty sure that X-man only brainfried Domino of the three mercenaries. I believe Forge killed Grizzly.

Iceman: Shattered by Colossus.
With a decent roll-eyes icon here. Iceman survived much worse in AoA and this kills him?

Morph: Shot up by ?.
Dark Beast IIRC.

Toad: Shot by Domino.
Mauled by Grizzly.

Dizzy D

Copycat
Killed by Jean Grey

Empath
I believe a final mercy-killing from a repenting Matt Murdock, but I have to recheck.

Emplate
Shot by Corsair IIRC

The Madri
All died when Madrox sacrificed himself to shut them all down.

Unus:
Frozen by Iceman.

what does The Fury do when his programmed miassion has been completed?

As another poster said, the Fury would probably just switch to standby, until more superhumans turned up.

how does earth develop witohut any superbeings, good or bad?
Pretty much like ours, I'd assume. Any outside influences (such as aliens landing) arriving would probably trigger the Fury; it'd count Kree, Skrulls, Shi-Ar, etc as superhumans, and destroy them, so I reckon Earth would remain much like our world.

does The Fury destroy all superbeings with amazing powers, or does he ignore those like The Punisher who are the pinnacle of human devlopment.

Frank wears a costume. He'd be low priority, but I reckon he'd be toast.

but how would you, kill Diamond Lil, Fury?
She'd be killed the same way as everyone else. There's no such thing as totally invlunerable, you just have to amp the power high enough. The Fury took out Tom Rosetta, a character based on the British comic hero Tim Kelly (Kelly's Eye), who was easily as indestructible as Diamond Lil. It roasted him to death in an instant.

Loki
04-06-2005, 06:35 PM
also if Franklin richards regained his relaity altering powers, if he could suck you into an alternate dimension before oyu know what he's doing;

The Fury would then just teleport straight back, as it had developed dimension travel abilities to get to 616. And it would probably develop a way to block any further such attempts to get rid of it.

presumably when confronting a group of powered opponents you attack the one who initially appears to be the greatest threat first? if you don't know whom you face, and are fighting the Fantastic Four, would Franklin would appear to be the least thrreatening of them all to your sensors, if his powers are inactive?

Nope, but the second his powers active, it's sensors would register this, and it'd go for him.

is your first priority then returning to 616 to finish the job, or destroying all superbeings in your new home?

Depends. If it encounters new superhumans to destroy the moment it arrives, it'd take them out. Once they were gone, it'd go back for the ones who got away.

Just a revival of this thread to ask a question to those who may know, or not.

Why is it there are other versions of Brian Braddock, when his dad James Braddock was from OtherWorld himself? the other versions include Kaptin Briton and The German Captain Britian from early Excalibur.

Unless James went to other worlds and reproduced with another version of Brian's mum?

Nevr explained, but there are some possibilities:

A) James Braddock wasn't really called James Braddock, but took a pre-existing identity (a James Braddock killed in the war/accident/at birth etc.), that strongly resembled him and built his own identity from there. (Unlikely: according to Dai Thomas there were no records at all on the Braddocks pre-War.)

B) Those other Captain Britains also had fathers hailing from Otherworld. Merlyn sends his soldiers to every single Earth to built himself an army. (Possible, but that's all I can say about it.)

C) Pure coincidence: the other Captain Britains have the same mother (though an alternate reality version), but the fathers just are very similar. (Again unlikely)

Another possibility: While Roman and merlyn were apprently unique and not human, Braddock seemed to be human (albeit possibly one with powers). So perhaps analogues in other dimensions existed of him and they were the fathers of the other Brians.

I like Bishop, Shard, & company and Nocturne, plus I wouldn't object to AoA characters crossing over other than what we have.

Personally, I hate that I like them because I loathe the concept of alternate reality future stepson things. I'd retcon the hell out of it if possible (an idea I toyed with was Bishop and friends were actually given visions of their lives in a future by a precog telepath which gave them "M"s on their eyes or what not...but it'd be messy and hard to fit into continuity).

Um..yeah.
