If MJ was written off, who would Spidey date?

MJ getting a little old and I would love to see Spidey start dating again. Please know that I am not advocating getting rid of MJ but am just curious about what others think.

My reason for her dissapearing: uh, aliens abducted her... yeah that's it, aliens.

My first pick for Spidey: Blackcat without a doubt.

What is your reason for MJ being written off and who would you pick for spidey to date?

I would have MJ get kidnapped by Green Goblin, Spidey goes after him and fights him, Peter is just about to finish GG, when Norman kills MJ! Peter is crushed, and GG gets away. Next arc, Spidey is bloodlusted, beating up every crook in the city to get to Norman. They eventually fight, on a rooftop, and Spidey curbstomps Osborn brutally. GG lies helpless, covered in blood and bruises. Peter picks him up by the neck and thinks of all the pain he has caused him. First Gwen Stacy, now MJ, the love of his life. Peter has Norman by the neck, preparing to snap his neck, when he lets him down, being the kind soul that he is. Norman scrambles away, fleeing for his life. The issue ends with Spidey staring out into the setting sun, crying.

After all that, he probably wouldn't date for ahile, but I'd like to see him date Black Cat.

let just start by saying i hope MJ never goes anywhere. she's the greatest and i hope she'll be around for as long as Spidey will be.

that said, i always thought that if baby May was to return MJ would want Pete to hang up the webs. he probably will for a while, but ultimately he'd have to return. MJ would be really peeved at this and proabably want to get seperated. not divorced mind you, just amicably parting ways so that Pete is now living alone bachelor ways but not dating or nothing, and he can still visit MJ and the baby, but he's not alowed to move back in unless he gives up being Spidey.

if MJ was too somehow die(which i can't comprehend that even happening) then and only ages later, i think going back with Felicia would be tolerable. i've always liked her, and nowadays she's over the whole i love Spide not Peter thing.

but let's hope none of this ever happens okay.

Though I am far (very far) from being her biggest fan, I always figured that Felicia would inevitably be the "runner-up" were MJ ever to split the scene, romantically speaking*. Problem with Felicia, though, is that she's really, really shallow - she likes Spider-Man, who's basically just a costume, more than she's ever liked Peter, and because of this, I can see the relationship crashing and burning in more or less the same way as it did the first time.

Hey, we could always bring back Debra Whitman. Because we all loved her so much, right? Right...?

*Though I would hope that MJ and Peter would remain friends, in the event of a divorce - it'd be an interesting dynamic to explore, the type of relationship you tend not to see in comics all that often, and it would also mean that she wouldn't have to be written out of the series.

My mind prevents me from killing of the real ray of light in Peters life. If she seems old and/or boring it´s because of bad writers.

Anyway some people also mentioned Black cat , i personally would like to see something else , at least something new . Pete/felicia has been done already , they got together for a few bad reasons and broke for the good ones . Besides its a bit too batman/catwoman :D .

Also i wouldnt like Peter to go out with a non superpowered woman . I mean if he break up with someone near as perfect and supporting as MJ , why even bother with normal women . The whole "i'm dating spidey but i dunno yet" again would be quite boring . Then the dramas following the discovery of Pete identity would be a cheap copy .
Imo the best way for peter would be someone understanding his responsability as a hero , hence another hero .

Well i like the idea . But i also of course love the idea of spidey/she hulk jokes between battles . Jen shouldnt be she-hulk all the time , nor remain as Jen all the time .
I highly doubt peter would fall for someone because of her super alter-ego only anyway .

Jill Stacy. She's drawn very well.. hehehe and the drama to go with the fact that Peter would have to deal with, with her brother Paul would be great. More tension in Peter's life, like he needs anymore. But then Paul could become some villian and the whole story can start again...........

I drew a total blank on the name and had to do a google search. Here's something I came up with on the end of her engagement to Lance Bannon way back when, according to http://www.spiderfan.org/comics/reviews/spiderman_amazing/242.html

At some point, they actually get engaged (Somebody look that up and tell me in what issue that takes place, okay?) but it is not to be. Lance is murdered by F.A.C.A.D.E. in Web of Spider-Man #114, July 1994. In Web #115, August 1994, Spidey promises a tearful Amy that "Lance Bannon will be avenged" (which turns out to be a hollow boast since F.A.C.A.D.E. is never caught). After Lance's funeral (in Web #116, September 1994), Amy is never seen again... which may be just as well considering how later writers turned the smart, independent, manipulative siren that Roger created into a big puddled mass of helplessness and mediocrity.

So 11 years ago Spidey promised her closure on that case, and nothing has happened in that direction since? It must be a great comfort to her to know that he's such a man of his word!
