I'm beat. Stayed out late last night, Daylight Savings Time hit, and I'm incapable of taking a nap.

Oh, and I failed to get an early start on the column this week. Again. UGH

But this is definitely what you'll be getting on Tuesday:

* Greg Rucka's three volumes of WOLVERINE reviewed
* PREVIEWed No More! A look at comics cancelled, resolicited, and just plain late.

I might add in one more trade review (SUPERMAN FOR TOMORROW) if inspiration strikes me, but I think this will all just have to do for this week. I might save the rest to get a jump start on next week's, instead. =)

Late comics whoo hoo!

You bitchslap the late shippers Augie!

My column is all done except for a review of Garden State.

I'm leaving here to watch the DVD now.

Bye!

Ooh, I'm jealous. Have fun with GARDEN STATE. I'll be playing catch up with TiVo tonight. I think it's time for MONSTER HOUSE and JOEY and maybe an ALIAS or a CSI or a SKETCH SHOW or something. . .

Well I'm taking a break from Garden State while I'm watching Deadwood, but it's not looking good so far.

I loved "Alias" last week. Twas the return of Marshall Flinkman, Superspy! :D

"Garden State" rules also. And "Monster House".

Watched ALIAS last night - laughed out loud multiple times. Best episode of the season. Hilarious.

The MONSTER HOUSE episode where they do the Hillbilly Trailer has to be seen. That's the one where they make fun of EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION. Every one of Steve's t-shirts had Ty's name on it in some way.

I missed that "Monster House" episode. With the time-slot switch I forget it's on then. Drat.

Yeah, this Friday night thing is killing me. They repeat it on Saturday night, so I usually remember by then to record it.

Failing that, there will be a marathon again eventually...

Garden State was 102 minutes of my life that I'll never get back.

I think you're in the minority on that one, though. . . Haven't seen it myself, but perhaps I'm likely to give it more rope, given my NJ nature.

That extra rope will come in handy as you'll want to use it to hang yourself afterwards.

I totaly dug Garden State. But then again, I also enjoyed Rucka's "Native" arc on Wolvie...

Wow, GARDEN STATE sucked that bad?

Ouch.

No, No. Really I liked GS - honestly.

But I also liked the Native arc. Maybe it was an issue too long, but there was some good stuff in there. Like putting radiation in the Native's body to keep her from regenerating so they could operate on her was pretty cool. And I thought this was a good way to put Sabes vs. Wolvie that was different from how they have been paired off against each other in the past. My fav battle between them may be from Wolvie #90, but this was interesting.

Going to have to seriously disagree about the "great visual look" of Sylvia Faust. Unique, yes. Don't know if I'd call it "great," though. :)

I'd compare "Garden State" with Wes Anderson's films "Rushmore", "The Royal Tenebaums". Same sort of quirky weirdness, comedy bits and broad cast of varied-personality characters around what is an its core a standard straight story type ("Garden State" = romance; "Rushmore" = coming-of-age; "The Royal Tenenbaums" = family reunion).

I really like all three of them, though I suppose they're not for all tastes. (I haven't seen Anderson's other two films to judge them.)

This news bummed me out. This is one of those I was hoping on getting in a tpb someday. :(

I promise not to hold that against you. ;-)

I can see where it might not be for everyone, but it's something I'd like to see applied to a different project somewhere down the line.
