View Full Version : Holy Jumble, Batman !!!

Hi Folks!
I don't spend much time here on the Bat Board, but I thought I'd adapt a game from the Classic Comics board for you Batman fans. I checked in with 13th, and she thought you folks might have some fun with it. Batman is my all-time favourite character - so I have a lot of source material.
The goal of the game is to try to identify each of the covers in the following jumble. Each cover features Batman, although it may not be from a Bat title. For the sake of variety, there are covers from different eras - so feel free to do a little research to ID them.
Classic Comics Regulars: I have used some of these covers in previous jumbles or Guess the Classic Covers - so please refrain from answering any you've seen before - let someone else solve those.
The Rules
1. Take a look at the jumble, download image to your hard drive if your prefer.
2. If you recognize a cover - indicate the title and issue # and where it appears in the jumble (eg. 'The building the bottom left piece is from Batman #1' etc....). If your answer is correct, I'll post the actual cover.
3. Please wait either 6 hours or until someone else has posted an answer, before posting another answer (whichever occurs earliest)
4. I will post clues to help with some of the tougher covers.
There are 14 covers in this Jumble.
Good Luck and Have Fun!

The top row is always tough to disguise.
Well done! Two down.

I thought this one might take a while, as there wasn't much with which to work.
I really liked this story arc with the Riddler. The whole ping pong ball tracheotomy (sp?) scene blew my mind when I first first read it back in high school.

Two for you, Mon-El.
The main reason for one answer per post rule and the six hour or alternating answer rules is to give people who have been away from their computers a chance to answer before it's completly solved. Thanks.
I am lucky enough to own an original page from this book - I love Norm Breyfogle.

Top Right corner- a tricky one the clue put me onto to World Finest Comics, it could've been #168 until I checked the lettering on Starring.
Top Right Corner - World Finest Comics #171

Well done.
Just a lot of Silver Age goodness here.
As I stated, these are not all necessarily 'Bat Titles', but Batman is a featured character in each title.

Nice job - B & B is my all-time favourite title.
This jumble is already more than half solved after less than 24 hours.

Second one down, right hand side - Batman #541
I think that's probably the last one I can get without intensive research (though that bottom center bit does look familiar somehow...hmm).

Yup - one of the strangest Kelley Jones covers ever (and that's saying quite a bit).
Research isn't a bad thing :D

Center Triangle featuring Robin and the Utility Belt:
Batman #209
I must have skipped over this image 5-6 times before finally realizing what cover it was.

That is it. From the Venom storyline.
No need to kick you out - you are following the rules giving others a chance. There have been a lot more views of this jumble in two days than we'd have in a month over at Classics, so people have been peeking but maybe there are too many old ones on here.
I can't believe I am saying that books from the early 90s are old. Now I feel old.

I recognized it right away, just had to look up the issue number. Ah the days of youth, when you had time to read and re-read the comics until you had them memorized.

Well done, I thought that one would take forever.
I believe there is only one cover remaining. The triangle at the bottom.

It reprints 3 of Two-Faces early appearances from the 40s, as well as lots of other great Golden Age reprints.

Wow!
You guys are good!
That does it!
Perhaps a Batman-specific jumble is quite a bit easier that a jumble with 'any cover ever published', but you solved this in record time.
If people would be interested, I may put another one of these together if I can find the time.
I hope you had fun.

I just wanted to say Thanks for the game, and I would be interested in another one of these. I haven't been able to get time to use the internet the past couple of days, and boy am I glad that this thing got solved it was beginning to give me nightmares.
So I wanna say great job out to RJComics and Corsair.
Another great thing about this thread is that it had me doing something that I haven't wanted to or basically I quit doing is using Ebay. After looking up some of these covers I got reminded of quite a few comics that I don't have and always wanted or have put off in getting.
Thanks again.
