Each user of these forums is able to leave some signature text at the bottom of each of his or her posts.

What is the role of a signature? A signature not there to tell your life story. It should be four or five lines of reasonably sized text - maybe some quotes you like or maybe some links to some websites. Whatever you like, really.

The main point though is the size of your signature. Signatures should not be overly large - for starters they detract from your actual message and almost without exception large signatures are ugly.

A good guideline to test whether or not your sig is too big is this:
See the space to the left where people have their avatars, post count and some neat little pictures underneath? If you signature is higher than the space those things take up then chances are the sig is too large. This, of course, is just a general guideline.

If you find that your signature text has suddenly changed, usually gotten smaller, then chances are that I went and edited it. If you have any queries about this then feel free to send me a private message but please do not send me PMs with 'Is my sig too big?' type questions in them - you have a guideline to work with.

Don't fret too much about your signatures though, we're not about to ban people over them by any stretch of the imagination. This post is just to clear some things up.

On a related note; No, you can not use images in your signatures.

So yes, links are fine.
