Is there any hope for a season after the eclipse or do you think it is simply too violent to put it into a tv (albeit adult) tv show?
I only say this cuz i def NEED there to be a season 2. i'd be all over it when it gets to dvd.

Kinda funny you posted this because I had just finished watching the entire berserk series for the first time last night.I think the answer is yes but probably not for awhile.
Take a look at this:http://arcticnightfall.com/boards/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19941

Okay, I have been hearing comments like this for about half-a-decade now. Kinda annoying.
Firstly, to get this out of the way: Do I wish there was a second season of Berserk? Yes. I very much enjoyed the series, and there are two story arcs that I would love to see animated (faeries and the arc with the two witches).
Secondly, do I think there is any chance of a second season ever being made? No.
From my understanding, the show did okay when it was shown late night in Japan, but was fairly expensive to make. Normally, this is not a death knell for an animated series looking for a second season if people move fast. It has been 7 years since it finished airing. Seven years is a long time. The only way to get the thing going again would be if a company throws a ton of money into it. Admittedly, Berserk seems to have done well outside of Japan, since I know it aired well in Germany and sells decently in the US. There is even a new PS2 game for it. Sadly, I do not think this is enough new interest to spur another season into being.
Long story short.... don't hold your breath for it. Luckily, the manga does continue the story, so you might as well go with that.

Whelp... time to fill up the bathtub and break out the old toaster then.
Really, I wouldn't hold my breath. There's been talk, but like many productions, no actual movement. This has been years. Not much movement. Plus right now the anime industry is debatably in the crapper debatbly because fans are moreso downloading it for free than actually paying for it. No money, no incentive or possibility of making more.
On the bright side we do have the manga. The story goes on there. The artwork is stunning and so much more happens in the story.
Dark Horse has released a good number of it in English. Plus I've cheated and read -shh- fan scanlations of the Japanese chapters out monthly in Young Animal. (Well.. sometimes montly, when the thing isn't delayed or on haitus.) So the story does go on.
The PS2 game is neat. A friend.. found a copy. He has a PS2 that can play games. Though I can't even read hiragana, so the Japanese is a problem. Sadly there is likley no American release. It's a PS2 game. Maybe if it was a newer cosole. So there's another wish for the winds, that there's a new Berserk game. Again, not holding my breath.

It's not like the PS2 is a dead system... yet. But yeah, the odds of any of the Berserk games being localised seem slim.
Still, I'd count on getting that game over here in the States before I'd expect a new anime adaptation... unless, perhaps, it's something like Hellsing Ultimate, where they restart from scratch with improved animation quality across the board and adhere more closely to the comics.
Seriously folks, just start picking up the manga volumes. By the time you get past the Eclipse, Miura's art skills are in full swing, and if you've seen the whole anime series, you can start collecting the comics at vol. 13-14. From there it's all about what happens next, and once you realise how excellent the comics are, you can go back and get the earlier volumes.
That only puts you 6-7 volumes behind the current Dark Horse release, and about 20 volumes behind the Japanese chapters. I forget... does the anime end at the beginning of the Eclipse, or at the end? Because the Eclipse is easily the pivotal event upon which the entire series turns... the consequences of Griffith's choice and what happens to Guts, Casca, and the rest of the Hawks pretty much drive the rest of the series.

It goes through the horrible end, but it doesn't show how they get out or what happened to her. You just see Guts at the old man's cottage and him getting the dragonslayer sword.

Huh... yeah, 'cause what happens to Casca, while brutally horrifying, is also the major plot-driving device for pretty much the rest of the series so far. How it affects her, what it drives Guts to do, and even who joins Guts afterwards (and why) are all pretty much rooted in the events of The Eclipse.
In a very real sense, volumes 4-12 of the story only exist to build up to that crucial event, famliarizing us with the characters so that the reader can properly appreciate the motivations that drive Griffith to make his decision, and the depths of the horrors that Guts and Casca have been exposed to.
The nice thing about the manga and anime is that they're largely concurrent in terms of events... reading the manga will just give you a richer appreciation of the story, but you could start with volume 12, which begins at the very start of The Eclipse, and if you're well-familiar with the anime, you'd be able to carry on pretty well.
Keep in mind that the events of The Eclipse are probably some of the most disgusting, awful things I've ever seen in a manga. I find it tolerable only because Miura's actually using that level of shocking violence to tell his story effectively. It doesn't feel gratuitous, it feels more like that horror and revulsion that is experienced by witnessing what happens to the Band of the Hawk there is necessary to appreciate the depths of darkness that are being drawn upon and against which which Guts and his friends must prevail.
For all that Berserk presents some seriously disturbing content, I feel that Miura's story is ultimately one of that spark of goodness that refuses to die in the presence of overwhelming evil. Just the same, I would never encourage anyone under 18 to read this series... it's more than a bit warped.

Is 392 the last chapter that has been released? It's the most recent one I can find... around, and I didn't know if it was still being put out in scanlations or not.

I personally live in an almost constant fear that I may one day have to convince my mother that Berserk isn't very, very disturbing porn. Already once I've had the anime paused at an inconvenient time and I'm pretty sure my aunt thinks I'm a pervert.

That's Berserk for you...:D
I love it. I haven't kept up on buying the volumes as they have come out here in in the United States mainly because I have read them all before but it will be easy to when I want to.
