I liked it so far...
kinda s l o w though... I'm hoping the speed pics up because I HATE the writing for trades feel most new books (including this one) have.
The response here has been pretty positive, I'm enjoying it. Looking forward to the Patriot/Kate romance. As for favorite characters, I'm biased towards Jessica Jones, but Cassie Lang is adorable! :D
As for decompression, anyone think it's odd that movies/tv have been getting faster paced to the point that a 3 minute scene feels long and gets much criticim for that, yet when comics take their time, we complain?

Right now, I'm liking Asgardian the best. I dont really like Patriot that much compared to the others. But only because I expected him to be more of leader, but he's not even close. Maybe soon.

Enjoying this series. The art is very pretty and the story is intriguing. The only character i'm not too fond of is Patriot, who's a complete ass.

Anybody got a good guess as to which Hero Kate Bishop will be dressing like?

We've been speculating on the #2 thread. It's narrowed to Hawkeye, Wasp or Jewel.

A female Hawkeye would be great.

Why? Has anything been said to hint those characters?

She's wearing a purple dress, is hostile to Patriot and physically capable (Hawkeye), they might be going for the founders, she's rich and she might have shrunk to get through the gate (Wasp). And the cover to #5 has an image that might be Kate as Jewel, or just Jess in costume.

I like it. I'm not a big Marvel fan, so personally I could care less about the characters, but they have potential. I am intrigued by the brunette girl. Not a big fan of Kang though. I'm going to pick it up for around 4 more issues and see how it goes from there.
But do they REALLY have to call them Young Avengers? It's like JLA Junior... >_>

The names "Iron Lad," "Hulkling" and even the "Asgardian" are annoying, as is the team name "Young Avengers." But, once you get past that, it's been a pretty good series thus far. I, too, am curious about Kate Bishop's role in YA. Like Cassie's thus far unexplained powers, too. My favorite of all right now would have to be Iron Lad. I'm a sucker for a good time travel tale.

The books real good. Heinburg's weaving a cute (yet awesome) story, and Cheung's art is something to see.
My favorite Young Avenger is Asgardian. I like his costume, his attitude, and his limited powers.
Can't wait for the Asgardian/Hulkling romance to blossom.

so far i'm loving the book. which is as much of a surprise to me as anyone!!
i'm probably liking Iron Lad at the moment.. seems like a rather level-headed guy. Of course, Cassie Lang is an all time favourite as well, but i'm not crazy about her growing powers. would've preferred if she was able to shrink. more interesting that way.

it would be cool is she did. i mean after all her dad's ant-man. not giant man. plus there's already Atlas in the T-bolts for the growing powers

Ok but for the Wasp thing, you see her dress in a position that suggests she's off the ground climbing the gate.

I've been arguing that but not everyone's convinced, thus the Wasp idea came up.

Are each of the members all going to correspond with Avengers? Because that could get pointless. Though I do like the variations - Hulk seems pretty well adjusted; the Thor surrogate is a modern day kid who seems to have stumbled across that 'boom stick'; and Iron Lad, well....
What is Kang's plan? Does this intrusion into the timeline occur before Engelhart's Avengers days, did Kang in fact meet them years after they met him for the first time?

I've been leaning towards that possibility myself....especially from the recent solicits.

I understand, but the dialogue and everything kind of demands that she climbed over the gate. She mentions climbing over it, and then she is over it. That seems like really reaching to me. Either way, I don't know whose place Kate will hold, it may very well end up being Wasp, but I don't think she has any powers just yet.
I'm looking forward to the next issue. With Cap and Falcon cancelled, I think this has become my favorite Marvel book (hell, if there was no Ex Machina, it'd be my favorite book period). Anyone care to speculate/ brainstorm about some potential members down the road. I believe over at comicboards a poster suggested the addition of the young Jocasta that appeared in Iron Man a while ago. That'd be a neat way to tie in Vision even further, and would give the team their own android (every team needs an artificial human :) ). Could Aegis from New Warriors join up as a Hercules analogue at some point? A new Black Knight character would be cool. I'm talking years from now, I don't want to overcrowd the title off the bat, but new blood seems like a must eventually, and there are plenty of classic characters to draw from to create young counterparts.
I want Gothic Lolita to join,or Social. But that's beause I love the Livewires girls. ;)

I've not read much of Geoff's Titans. I LOVED his JSA at first, as well as the entire Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. series, but I had no interest in this Titans book. I gave it a shot, but it was so-so at best for my tastes. This YA is exciting to me though, and I feel like it is both organic and logical, as well as new and interesting. That is rare these days.

I like him a lot. In a lot of ways Trey is a blank slate. Let him join, he isn't bogged down with too much history and can go in a lot of different directions. Plus, Athena chose him as her representative on Earth. Being vouched for by the Goddess of Wisdom is a pretty good sign that you're gonna be good at what you do. but, I know what you mean, a lot of people seemed to hate him.

Does anyone else think Kate Bishop and Patriot may end up together? After then #2 and hints she could become a member or at the least, supporting cast I think it may happen.

Early in the series to form many opinions. That said, Hulkling is El Stinko regardless of gender/sexual preference. Not even remotely interesting, much like his/her namesake...:)

You would stink too, if you were a giant green creature, that was emmiting radiation from the pores of it's skin. Speed Stick can't stop the stink of gamma radiated arm pits :D .

No need for spoilers, it's in the solicit so it's not a secret. If Marvel don't care, why should we.
And as far as such things are true, yes.
I'll be least annoyed if it's Iron Lad.

Despite my original misgivings (particularly over the name...they have GOT to get a new name!) I have asked my comic shop to hold the first two issues for me. I'll take a look next week and if it's even halfway decent I'll probably subscribe.

Iron Lad's armour is pretty cool, I want to see him start using it to it's full potential.

i read on another young avengers thread that because of this OC writer mainstream is flowing into comics. does anyone else agree that mainstream started hitting comics as soon as the first x-men movie hit it big? little off topic but anyway i think young avengers it gonna rock peoples socks in a few months. teenagers with some of the greatest superpowers in the Marvel Universe. they're not like their Avenger counter-parts in my mind at all because as adults the Avengers have found a moral compass. they know right and wrong. as a teenager its kinda hard to know the diffrence. anyone else getting what i mean?

I really.. REALLY didn't want to like this title.. but i picked up the first two issues while i was on a trip to NY, and i must say- they were really good. I had to drop stuff so i could add it to my pull list!
When are Arana and X23 going to join? :D
heh.

whoops. didn't know about that.
I have ZERO interest in Arana. I just don't get the point. Marvel seems to be all crazy over the fact that she's latin-american.. but we already have latin-american FEMALE superheroes (Firebird?) and girls w/ spider powers (May Parker? Mattie Franklin? Either Spider-Woman?) I guess i just don't understand what seperates Arana from every other poochie like her.
A guess star would be ok, i suppose- but i'd prefer if this title created it's own characters for awhile.

As I grow increasingly tired of saying, you're not the market.

I saw that, but if editorial mandates that he add her, he'd have to, right? :(

As I grow increasingly tired of saying, you're not the market.
I'm not the market for X-23 or Power Pack either, but i thoroughly enjoy both. I'm also not the market for childrens literature but i'm an avid fan of the Oz books, Peter Pan, and the Chronicles of Narnia. I'm not the market for Powerpuff Girls, but i've taped nearly ever episode. I AM the market for movies like XXX, and programs like Wrestling and South Park, but i can't stand any of it.
Being the target market doesn't have everything to do with it. If it's a strong concept, it'll stand up on it's own.
I know you meant the movie with Vin Diesel Vegetarian Goat, but you saying your the market for movies like XXX still made me chuckle :D .
I'm enjoying Young Avengers and don't want to see Arana join the team. A guest appearance would be fine, but not a regular member. I hope the cast stays the same until we get to maybe issue 18.
