Anyone else pick this up today? Personally, I love it, even though I've probably read all the stories elsewhere (the first Batman archives and a reprint of Batman #1 pretty much cover it).

The reproduction is great and I think the color looks better than it does in the Archives. (Maybe it's just that the newsprint works better with these colors.) Contrary to what a lot of people were worrying about, the first Robin story from Detective IS included in this volume, and precedes Batman #1. The price--$14.99--is a real winner. I hope DC hurries up and solicits #2, that'll be the volume I'm really anxious to see. Because many of those stories I *haven't* read.

Gotta agree with ya hear. I can find a lot of silver age stuff, but my wallet really can't afford anything Golden Age. this is as close as i will get to it and i am truely enjoying it.

I picked it up yesterday, even though I have read these stories a endless amount of times in other collected formats. I haven't had a chance to browse through it yet, too many other comics to read plus I am saving it for a nightly read.

One more thing:

I have to give Dc Credit on this because the price alone made this worth picking up and made very affordable by todays standards.

Jim,
You know I picked this one up. You're right, the reproduction is very good.
One quip I have is - I had always throught that Robin's second appearance was in NY World's Fair 1940, not Batman #1. Can you confirm this? And does this mean that NYWF 1940 will be the first story in Chronicles 2?

I haven't had a chance to read the whole thing yet, but I am glad I picked it up. I really like the cover, too. :) It looks good as my desktop wallpaper.

I don't know how definitive it is, but "Mike's Amazing World's" cover gallery has NYWF 1940 coming out the same month as Batman #2.

I picked this up today and love the format - quality color reprints at a great price. I could never get into Marvels Essentials line because of the black and white (nothing against b&w - but that stuff was made to be seen in color) and DCs Archives were/are too expensive to buy regularly. If DC can maintain this format, I think they've got a huge winner on their hands. Lets hope they expand it to other characters.

Don't quote me on this (... unless you want to use the quote tags...) but I remember hearing they were going to do this with Superman as well.

I got my #1 on hold and will get it likely monday! WhoHoo!

Any word on #2 yet?

I heard it was one Chronicles per year... so #2 would be out next year? Can anyone confirm this?

Got the first volume. For some reason, I like these better than some of the early Sprider-Man stuff I've read in the Essentials.

I hope the volumes come out frequently 3/6 months. We'll all be dead before they hit the 1970's if we're talking one volume a year.

No word on #2 yet I think you heard about Superman from me. I said I hope they do Superman as well.

Yeah me too. JSA, Flash, and Green Lantern would be cool too

I have this sitting on my desk. just flipping through every once in a while and reading random panels makes me smile. Its an excellent format for a collection, and an excellent price. DC was inspired when they came up with this idea.

In a recent article, DC said it would be up to the fans as to how often these come out. I'm inferring from this that they may be waiting to see final sales figures on the first one before making a decision.

Okay, broken record time, here.....but I also appreciate DC for doing this service for its fans, a legendary chronicle at a nice price. I havnt read mine yet but I am fairly sure that it wont disappoint. (I hope the once-a-year thing doesnt come true because...well...I aint gettin no younger....

I got it in the mail yesterday and when I decided to take a look at it, my girlfriend swiped it from me. She couldn't believe that everyone called him "The Batman" at first, however she did comment on how well Batman's costume today is so close to the original.

Luckily I remembered to bring this to work today so I can grab sneak peaks here and there. The colors do look amazing and hopefully we see Vol. #2 soon.
