Got to Night Terror using Seong Mi-na :) Spammed A+B, forward A+B, and running A+B as the situation required. Against Night Terror itself though, grabbing works better.

I just got Soul Caliber 3 two days ago. It was either this or Dead or Alive 4, but finally I choosed this because Dead or Alive 4 has never had any true depth or a good story. Hell, I don't even know why they are fighting in the DOA thing. Something about DOATEC but whatever.

I'm glad I chose this because this is a great game. Although, the characters look a bit different, but I guess there getting older.

I have a question though.

Who the hell is Arthur, and why does he look like Mitsurugi (sp?)

Arthur is the Korean version of Mitsurigi. Samurai imagery and well Japanese culture is pretty frowned upon in Korea for obvious reasons. So when Soul Blade(very first game) was shipped over there 'rugi was changed to arthur. Dont know how many he was changed to Arthur in tho.

My sister got this for Christmas. We spent most of 12/25 & 26 playing. Too bad the SOBs won't make it for the XBox so that I can have it. :mad: Ah well, at least I have DOA.

We had a lot of fun being dorks and making ourselves into fighters. I put myself in the normal looking clothes and added a cape and mask. My sister went for the cat ears. After that, we worked out years of sisterly aggression on each other. I won most of the time. :D

Out of the stock characters, the crazy nut with the giant spiked circle (Tira?) was my favorite.

The only thing that pisses me off is that there is no difficulty setting except for the Quick Game. Speaking as a button masher, it got very old very fast for the computer AI to be throwing out a zillion unblockable combos at me. The computer was too good. *sigh* For some characters, it was sheer luck that I happened to knock them out of the ring that allowed me to progress.

I played against two of my friends who are mashers on Friday.
I used Amy, Ivy, Siegfried, and Xianghua.
I defeated them with X's ''crybaby'' at the last second a few times ! :D
I was also happy to have pulled off Ivy's Cagemaster twice and CS three times.

Anyway, after beating my friend who does not play the game at all
a few times, she picks Seung Mina and I pick Ivy.
She starts mashing like crazy and I have a hard time blocking her.
I miraculously won one match, but I lost at fight #21. :evilangry

Yeah. I was thinking that Li Long was easier to control than Maxi.
I don't know who is faster though - him or Maxi.

I just wasted an hour or two of my life, and I am pissed. My controller's been on the fritz the last few days... first it seemed like the buttons weren't quite responsive, then it stopped responding for long stretches. Today, I was in Chronicles of the Sword mode (Chronicle 17) and had all five troopers knocking on the last stronghold. I select one of them to pull back so that I can retry if I lose, and the controller breaks. It just sits there scrolling endlessly. After leaving it for a while and unplugging/replugging a few times, it exits the menu, then instantly breaks again. I can't do jack as my troops finish breaking the stronghold, and all of them die against the boss while jumping up and down, accepting no commands (except Start, but the controller won't unbreak) and unable to do anything. Saddest thing ever. I swear I want to kill someone right now.

F****** Feofan. I knew I should've left him at the last stronghold instead of letting him work on the last one with the others.

I want those hours of my life back.

Guess I won't be playing anymore till I get a new controller.

Anyone have any tips for beating Hyle in Chronicle 10? Nearly all of my attacks result in him stepping aside at the last possible moment and beating the tar out of me before my attack even stops.

If you have a character with a reasonably quick A,A, get up in the opponent's face and spam A,A's. The CPU falls for that alot.

Edit: Aha, I've read around a bit, and it looks like Kierkess rides out with a few minions to attack your HQ as soon as you beat Hyle, so watch out for that.

Ringouts are sometimes your friend, and sometimes your enemy... I barely beat Chronicle 20 by ringout. I'd whittled Strife down to probably 1/10 of his life (mostly with Meiga B+K cheapness) by the time it was Rose's turn, but he still smacked me silly till we got near the edge and I hit him with a lucky forward-A, Siegfried style.

The higher-level enemies are annoying, though... they seem to do a good deal more damage to you than vice versa. I was wondering if I was leveling up wrong or something.

I practiced Voldo a little bit tonight and I think I'm somewhat used to him now, but I still have a lot to learn about him.
He doesn't seem like a really easy character to use.

Oh, that reminds me... the statue you get seems to have no face, which kinda sucks since that's Rose's best feature :p

I finally noticed that, as it turns out, I used Abelia's face for Rose. They look different enough with the hair and color differences, though (dark, short-haired, and red-eyed vs fair, long-haired, and blue-eyed).

And now I'm back to messing around with skimpy clothing in Char Creation, after splurging my CotS earnings in the Armor Shop. I don't think I cleaned out even half the shop, which is kind of surprising. Rose's "full chainmail" look has been pretty established in my head after running through CotS with it, but the Rapier discipline doesn't go quite so well with it. I tried changing her into (I think) the Chase Shirt and removed the chainmail, but it only drapes over the front, which leaves her butt in the open (trust me, it's not that stylish). So I gave up on that, and now she's basically wearing an armored bikini, with long leather gloves and boots. Classic :p We'll see what I do next...

In CotS, using Soul Calibur with Soul of Siegfried doesn't seem to do any more damage than using plain ol' Schweitzer with the Rapier discipline. In fact, it might even do less, though that might be an illusion. Weird.

Seriously though, at around level 60, fighting level 2 opponents in Chronicle 1, 66B seems way weaker than it should be...

I went to a tourney in South San Francisco over the weekend...It was the first time my friend and I ventured outside to see other competition. And let me tell you, we got killed.

We thought at best we were average-above average players but turns out we were low tier players. The tournament was a real eye opener and I'm glad to have seen these guys in action so that I can improve my technique.

I'd say my CoS dream team included Aeneas ('cause lance is fun and decent), Meiga (for forward-B+K), and Eurydice (for A+B). Reise sucked though AFAICT :p

yeah, the a+k+sidestep is a teleport move. :D then the up+forward+a+b is a shinkuu hadouken :D stupid grabs but they set them up. im trying to master the grieve edge.

Just got this game and now I´m worried....


If you have other games files on your memory card that were created
BEFORE the Soul Calibur III file was created, and you decide to DELETE
or MOVE (COPY) them...guess what? You're in for a file corruption!
And this usually happens if you have OLDER game files that you decide
to delete or move (copy) off of your memory card, which also contains
SC3. For example, let's say you have a memory card with some older
game files that were on there for quite some time. You then created a
Soul Calibur III file on that particular memory card, and then started
to progress in the game. After which, you decide to get rid of one of
your old game files. Well, sooner or later, you will be facing that
file corruption problem once you SAVE your play/progress in CotS or
even your general SC3 save file, and THEN tried to load CotS or your
general SC3 save file AFTERWARDS.
