Well scrolling down a bit you find this (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=48321) discussion on "is this the best Captain America".
Also, many people, myself included, think it is in the top 3 titles put out by Marvel today. With many even giving it the number 1 slot.

Yeah just to throw my nickle in this is deffinetly one of the best Marvel titles out there currently. I only buy Cap, MTU, Thunderbolts, Hulk, and occasionally New Avengers and Cap is probably my favorite.
My favorite thing about the book is the Steve Epting art. I first discovered him thanks to El Cazador and his work here is actually much stronger than on that.
Give it a shot, pretty sure you won't regret it.
Thus far, it has been excellent.

I've been reading Cap for 18+ years and I have to agree, this is probably the best, ever.

Bruebaker & Epting know what they are doing, so yeah, I'd advise you to read it

Well, I've been reading (or at least monitoring) since 1966, and I'd say one of the best runs in 40 years.... but I've a soft spot in my heart for Jack Kirby's sleeper saga, and the Byrne/Stern 9 issue run...

I have never been a fan of Cap. America. But with all the hoopla I've heard about Brubaker I figured I'd give it a try. And I'd have to say it pulled me in. Eptings art is very well done and the stroy thus far is making me want to read so. So i'd say give it a try

I like this Cap a lot. I didn't follow the last series. I loved the original Waid/Garney run back in the late 400's. that was a good Cap story. The current Cap run ranks right up there!

you know some of work of bendis I like. Loves brubaker I would definitely recommend anything he does. Bendis's avengers is sort of hit and miss. His characterizations are incredibly well done. Its like shakespeare's writing. Outdated, but you can still appreciate the sheer brilliance. Characterization wise. No my problem is definitely flow, and its the same with ultimate Xmen, what makes want to read the bloody thing. Its definitely not the writing alone. Its always more. Loves brubaker on Cap america, his batman work gotham central, the authority. Wonder if he'll do some more x-title stuff. Anyway thats my take. Its a good title definitely.

Just finished the 1st issue, and it was really good.
I'm hooked because I have to run and get the next couple of issues right away.
What a great way to end the very first issue.

No doubt the Waid/Garney runs (I liked both of them) were great. They were a lot of fun, and even now they re-read very well. They're well told stories. And since I didn't really start reading comics regularly until late in Gru's run, Waid/Garney (followed closely by Waid/Kubert) is my favorite from during that span, and probably the best stuff Cap stuff I've read.
This new series, though, really does have the potential to be as good or better than Captain America has ever been. As was the general concensus in the other thread, 4 issues is a little early to declare "best ever," but it's well on it's way. It's certainly different from the Waid/Garney stuff, but it's quickly become my favorite book out there.

over the years i've collected and read comics on and off, but cap is the only one that i've collected every issue of no matter what. and this series is one of, if not the best series i've read. I'm looking VERY forward to seeing where this series goes.

I found it good, but not nearly as great as everyone else. I just like my Cap to be more "superhero-y". Fighting terrorists and renegade Generals just doesnt excite me, I guess I just like Cap with more adventure in it.

It's probably just getting going with this only being the first story arc.

So I read the subject and think "Eh, feeling a little under the weather, but nothing some chicken soup won't cure."
Best Cap since Waid/Garney.

Cap is great. Some of the best stuff in years. I've read over 30 years worth of Cap comics, and I can say without reservation, this run WILL go down in the history books. I've read smart people say it is too soon to compare it with the greats, but I wholeheartedly disagree. This level of quality in every aspect of any comic is hard to find. This is a good one, and I hope Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting (who has REALLY improved since his X-Factor days I might add) are on this title for a good long time.

Fantastic run! I am glad Brubaker respects every aspect of caps history and runs...everything from the old Stan Lee and Kirby tales of suspense days to Byrne/Stern, Gru, Waid is respected....Great Cap! I know its too early but being a gru fan myself, I have to say that this run may beat out grus run....in fact i think it already does..It made me like sharon, never liked her, always was a diamondback fan but made me like her. It made cap a tortured soul and really captures it well, and makes him very human. Crossbones is finally being realized his potential..sure only two potentials, but the fight with him and cap in issue 4 shows that bones is shaping up into to what this great character who has been ignored for the last decade or so finally deserves. I also like how the skull was killed off...and some of the other deaths
Great stuff!

Brubaker really has a love for Cap and it shows.
