View Full Version : Which slain Avenger will return first?
Buried Alien

Superhero comics being what they are, and Marvel comics being especially what they are, the Avengers killed in last year's DISASSEMBLED will likely eventually find their way back to the realm of the living. Who do you think will return first and how soon? Can you picture anybody being dead for a decade or more before returning a la Hal Jordan over in the DCU?

I'm sure that there will be a storyline where it only appeared that Hawkeye died while taking out that spaceship. And the New Avengers will take off into space to get him back, or something like that. So, I'm going with Hawkeye. Maybe he will come back in Thunderbolts since he was on that team for awhile.
It did take DC a decade to bring back Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, but he has been the Spector for most of that time and still around the DCU.

Of course they they will return, today they are more like the 70's champions than like the avengers ( but I loved what Mantlo and Byrne did on The Champions- for more about it, see my "anyone would like an essential champions " thread in the marvel universe section of the CBR forums.
I'd like very much to have Hawkeye back soon, but i'd like to see what Bendis can do with the new avengers concept too, I think it's one of his best series. :)
So for the first avengers returns, maybe in the fall of 2006 ? Anyway Hawkeye will strike again. And for vision, even an adroid can return.
Still hope to see Barry Allen as the Flash again and I am very glad to have Hal Jordan back as Green Lantern, even if I enjoyed Ron Martz's Kyle (but for me he's only second to Hal). :)
If you cout holograms, it's already happened...

I kinda think that the Vision will be the first to return.
I don't know why, it just seems right.
i can't see Jack of Hearts returning anytime soon though

I loved Bendis' response when someone wrote in to Powers, to ask if he would add a gay Avenger to NA. "What, gayer than Jack O' Hearts?" :p

Vision being an android makes him the most logical choice. After all, all they have to do is rebuild him. And then bring in his personality later on.

Vision has already shown up in Young Avengers yeah he is not rebuilt but Kang did communicate/access him through a Hologram Form (rememebr vision was just a hologram while his body was repaired a while back).

I hope Jack O Hearts is gone for good... and I still bet that Scott Lange shrank down to sub-atomica at the last second...and that he'll have a mini-series adventure with Psycho-Man and Jardella at the heart of the atom before returning sometime.
As for Hawkeye, I've already weighed in on several ideas on how and why he might have escaped certain death, and when Marvel calls me, I'll be happy to explain it to them.
I agree, my money is on Vision to be rebuilt in some fashion, first...then Clint, Scott, and lastly...gulp...Jack....
But I'll be Wanda comes back FIRST OF ALL!!!

Hawkeye.
Because his death was the least logical and thus likely the most magical in ends.
In other words, because he died in a space ship made of paper and there was no body, there's as much reason as otherwise to conclude that he was merely..... misplaced but not killed.
His death was stupid that it'd be better for Marvel to Magic it away rather than let it stand untouched.

Thor is the mystery Avenger that everybody else thinks is Daredevil or Iron Fist, and he replaced his hammer with ninja weapons. Thor, the world's mightiest Ninja ;) .

Y'know I never considered Jack O'Hearts to be the gayest avenger I always thought Wonderman and Quesar where the gay ones.

I always like the jack of Hearts. I thought his costume, along with Yellowjackets, was one of the coolest in the MU. It was over the top gimmick without becoming too hokey. It would fit in well in spiderMan-land. Hell, it beats Electro's costume, Sandman, several of the Black Cat revamped costumes, A good chunk of the Iron Man armors, anything worn by USAgent, the wasp, the list goes on.
I would love to see Jack of Hearts come back.

Ok I hate to get a little off topic, but I have just a few questions: 1. Ok the last Avenger I read the cap kicked Kangs butt in mortal combat, they where celebrating their victor, kang escapes with the help of his clone, then later Warbird asks for a trail for what she did, and is exonerated I think. I did see a cover around october of last year, you see I was in the army then, (im 19, out now, dont ask why) and was very unable to pick a copy just then. So my first question is what in creation from then to that happened that would make the Avenegers implode and split apart. Just yesterday I picked up a copy of Cap Am (red skull somewhat ambushes Cap, he has an exo suit, I think you fan boys will know) and thats the word he used Implode. As if to mean the Avengers had a fight and broke up. That to me is an immposibilty of impossibites, but then Marvel in recent years has done some major things that where thought impossible, the doctor doom Sue Storm wedding, for example, or Kang's war, as I call it for I do not know the proper name for it. There is other examples but id have to get my collection out of storage for more. Anyways I get off subject my next question is this: The last time I saw Hawkeye he was being controlled/working for Loki god of lies. Now I thought that sadly ended Hawkeye from the Avengers. If anything happened after that I dont know about, getting comics is hard where I live. There is no mention of him in Avengers months before the start of Kang's war. So what happened? My last question: The last time I saw Thor he was inside spideys eye on the cover of his comic, (Which by the way I think should have been a spider-man comic since he was the main charecter of the story) he had resigned his post in the Avengers and taken up his fathers role as Lord of asguard, (btw how can odin king of the asguardian gods die, and of what old age?) and was planing to rule the earth. and I was skimming through another thor comic reading a conversation between two gods that made it seem that was the case, but that could be an alternate story arc so forget about that. Anyway what happened to thor from then to that. and lastly a statement, of course vision will come back first (have no Idea how he could die) he can be put back together quicker and it will be easier to write first, as was stated earlier. Sorry for the long post but if I could get some help that would be nice.
p.s. jack of hearts is a spare, i have no idea of anything he could contribute (dont know about his powers, but their probuly gay)if they for some reason decide to bring him back, as far as I know he just appeared. They should let him die, so that other spares will be discourged for joinig knowing that death awits them.

same here, but jack wont be back. he'd have to have two consecutive ressurections to counteract his two consecutive deaths.
and c'mon, that'd just be silly...

Actually, Lang is the only real confirmed kill in AD. You see his burnt up crispy arm, remember? There was an interview with Bendis somewhere I think where he said they had contemplated making the arm all tiny, but it would have made the scene too absurd.

No, I can't imagine Marvel letting somebody IMPORTANT be dead for 10 years. The thought is really novel, because if they could actually wait that long before bringing somebody back, think of the marketing blitz (then again, all the Hawkeye fans would be dead -- maybe they are on to something after all... ;) ). I LOVE the idea, but in reality it will never happen (and I deal in reality -- I have a great deal on 2 years of it -- not that I've ever used it...) ;)

2 deaths/resurrections? Sounds like an average (if not quiet) week over at the X-Mansion!
As for returns, What's Hank Pym got on that's so urgent to stop him rebuilding Vision?

This might be a spoiler here but isn't Vision kind of already back? His appearence in Young Avengers means he'sback in some form already. As for the ones that are already dead it's going to be Hawkeye, just because his death pissed so many people off. I can't see Ant Man coming back seeing as it seems like theres this push to bring Cassie Lang to the hero front. Jack of Hearts, does anyone want this guy back, all he ever did was complain about how he didn't fit in and then he exploded,( I think I just offended all 12 JoH fans out there ;) )
