Has anyone heard of the Kasier Cheifs, not even sure if I'm spelling it right. Read an article that said their better than Fanz Ferdinand and that they deserve as much popularity as FF is getting now. I've heard a little bit of their single "I Predict A Riot" and I wasnt impressed. I dont know what my point is I'm just tired of seeing all these overhyped bands that either sound like other bands or just plain suck. OK sorry for the rant just ignore me.

Kaiser Chiefs, I think. All I've heard by them was "I Predict A Riot", and it sounds almost exactly like a song I've heard before...I just can't remember what song.

Normally I'm pretty open to bands that sound a lot like past bands, since I love Franz Ferdinand, the Futureheads, Interpol, and so on, but I think I'm finally getting burned out on it.

Exactly. Of course, Franz Ferdinand and the Killers were already covering that "eh. eh." ground perfectly well before the Kaiser Chiefs came along.

Bah. New music. Humbug!

my sentiments exactly. there's only a very very select few artists/bands i can get into coming out these days. do you think it's more a product of a maket oversaturated with bands or just an overall lack of room for originality in the consumer based society? or could just be there's very little musical ground left to cover?

Their song Oh My God is worth checking out but other than that they're just another run-of-the-mill electro pop-rockers.

Kasabian are worth a shot though particularly the track Club Foot.

"Club Foot" is addictive.

Bah. New music. Humbug!

New music makes it sound as though they are actually developing their own style as opposed to blatantly aping someone else's.

Yes, yes, and yes, in that order. I think we're in a very decadent period, historically speaking: the culture feels exhausted, and there's left nothing to do but swallow our own tail with greater and greater precision. Even the fresh, vibrant youth music of the era -- hip-hop/electronic -- is based, at least in part, on scavenging from the past. (And even that is hardly fresh any more. Not a diss.)

Of course, to those with less jaded ears, everything is new; I can't fault Kaiser Chiefs for being popular. They're good for what they are: an overly imitative band with their own compartmentalized personality, like, say, Nickelback. They just have hipper heroes than Nickelback does.

Ah, but I'm using it in the technical sense to mean "a recording which did not exist a year ago."

Ah, but I was being snotty about the band's sound.

I thought the album was pretty "eh." Especially since they're not really doing anything originaly anyway. Or did you bring them up because we were talking about bands that aren't really "new?" I really don't get all the hype that Kasabian is getting, most of the album just sounds like filler.

There are a lot of bands around at the moment that are like Kaiser Chiefs, (well here anyway). I like theri single 'Oh My God' but have yet to hear the album, I'm sure I'll like it because I like most of the newer Indie stuff. Such bands like Kasabian and The Bravery seem to big prospects.

I like the quote about Kasabian having released the most important album of 1997 in 2005.

Boy if that isn't true, Kasabian created the album between Blur's Great Escape and the s/t one. However, I really love LSF and for a well done "mash-up" to emphasize the similarites Listen Here (http://www.sixxmixx.com/PartyBen-Blursabian.mp3)

As far as the Kaiser Chiefs I have been listenign to their whole album for about 2 months now, and I still only like "I Predict a Riot"

But on the whole, I was a huge britpop fan through the '90s so I inherently like anything that sounds like that movement.

I couldnt really get into Kasabian, but I've only heard one song from them. So I'll try to check them out. The Bravery, I like, I like their single that s out right now. Cant remember the name of it. The Killers are pretty good to.

You're probably right.

My brother's listening to a lot of these bands (he's off to see the Bravery in May) and Kasabian seem the least worst.
