I know it is still a little early, but my neighbor's TV kept me up last night and I can even think about work yet.

Unless Diamond updates the list, it's looking like a small week for us.

Batman #638
Read #635-637 last night! L-O-V-I-N-G it! I just hope the Red Hood reveal doesn't turn out to be a bust.
DC Countdown #1
Given that it is only a buck, I may have ordered it.
Legion of Super-Heroes #4
Unfortunately, I really enjoyed #3. #3 did what I hoped it would and it sold me on the series. The "unfortunately" comes in because I didn't pre-order #4.
Majestic: Strange New Visitor TP
Didn't pre-order it, but it is definitely on my short list of items-to-pick-up-later-on.
Ocean #5
Great series. Waiting for trade would have been cheaper, but this has been worth it!
Outsiders #22
Let's hope the upcoming new artist is up to the job. This book needs a steady penciller.
Richard Dragon #11
Ever lose interest because a series is at its premature end?
Superman: For Tomorrow HC
Well, if the story doesn't wow me, I'm sure it'll look nice.

Rex Mundi #13
Wow. This book getting back on a regular schedule would make me all kinds of happy.

Astonishing X-Men #9
Ahhhh. Bliss.
Fantastic Four #524
*sniff* I feel like my parents are getting divorced all over again.
Madrox: Multiple Choice TP
Buy this! Easily one of the best stories of last year!
Pulse #8
Thinking of switching to trade after this arc.
Secret War Book Four
Cool!

Wait for Trade
--------------
Usagi Yojimbo
Otherworld
Risky given that it is twelve issues, but this was a cost-saving measure.
Ultimate Secret
Ellis!
X-Men: Phoenix Endsong
Depending on how it ends, P may want this in trade.

Rex Mundi #13
Wow. This book getting back on a regular schedule would make me all kinds of happy.

That would be nice, but this issue isn't the start of it. I believe this is the last issue that Eric J did the art for, so there'll probably be another long break after it, while a new artist is found and gets going.

My list is:
Damn Nation #2
The Goon #11
Rex Mundi #13
Temporary #2

STAR WARS EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH TP( Even though I won't read it until after I see the movie)
USAGI YOJIMBO #82

Buying in Trade

STAR WARS EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH #1 (This is probably redundant but whatever)

Yup, another HUGE week of comic buying for me! ;) Probably for the best, I just paid for the airfare for SDCC this week...and thanks to Jetsgo paid almost 20% more than what I had to pay last year!

DC Countdown #1 - This is a must have. It's 80 pages for a dollar, and it kicks off DC's plans for the year. And, unlike crossovers and events from the past- I expect this to be good too. I can't wait to read this, which means I'm playing right into DC's hands. :)

Batman #638 - I've been buying this and putting it aside. I play to make my own trade by reading this arc all at once. A friend of mine has been borrowing this from me and he says that Winick has been doing a nice job so far.

Flash #220 - Always good. Johns is the man.

Astonishing X-Men #9 - What a great, great book. I'm really happy to hear that eventually Whedon is gonna write a second volume of this.

Phoenix #4 - I'm buying this due to the beautiful Greg Land art.

Grimjack #3 - 4 bucks is a little steep for a comic. IDW is lucky that I really dig John Ostrander...

Gotta Get Sooner or Later:

Madrox: Multiple Choice TP-I got to read the first issue online and I liked it. Didn't get to collect the issues though. I'd definitly like to have the TP.

Planetary Vol. 3: Leaving the 20th Century-I have the first two trades and so I'd definitly like to have this too. Planetary is great in TP (its great in the seperate issues too, but there's something especially cool about reading it in TP form, imo).

DF2506
" Though, whenever that Invinicble TP #4 comes out, that'll be the next TP I get. Then prob Planetary when I can and I'd like to get Madrox too! "

Outsiders #22
Let's hope the upcoming new artist is up to the job. This book needs a steady penciller.
EM
I dropped the book at the beginning of the year because I felt it had lost a lot of steam after Tom Raney left. Isn't Carlos D'Anda the new regular penciler? I thought that I read that on the Gelotometti blog recently. Anyways, the issues that he penciled were OK (I think the coloring was too dark), nothing that made me want to keep reading the book.

De Carabas
03-29-2005, 10:53 AM
According to the Pulse, the new penciller is Shawn Moll, starting with #22. I guess I personally never felt like D'Anda was the "new penciller" so much as the "fill-in guy until we find a new penciller." Don't get me wrong, I do like D'Anda, (cautiously glances to see if Tracie is prepping scorpibees), but the book has felt a bit off since Raney's departure.

It could also just be Winick is spreading himself too thin, Outsiders is the book paying the price, and my comments about art have nothing to do with it. Either way, I hope things change because what was one of my weekly favorites is coming close to being purged.

DC Countdown #1 - I didn't read Identity Crisis. I don't want to read it. I am not interested in it. It made me glad I wasn't reading Titans, and made me drop Flash. I don't like big crossovers. I know they sell. I am not sure if I will get any of the spin offs. I will however get this anyway. 80 pages, 1 dollar? I support the price. Good creators, but I expect to not like it. I am also not looking forward to House of M.

Legion of Super-Heroes #4 - A good book. Not great. But again, extra pages, for really great price. And I love Kitsons' art. Those two push me far enough to keep buying this.

Richard Dragon #11 - this is a book that was getting good, but like Eric I have lost all interest in impending cancellation. Oh well. I am still get these final two issues.

Planetary Vol.3 - I just read volumes 1 and 2 (and the crossover volume) in preparation! I wonder if I read any of these issues? I forget when I switched to the trade.

Yep - the first 3 issues of Outsiders were fantastic. And then Raney was sick, didn't pencil the next 3~4 issues, penciled the next 3, took an issue or two off, got rid an inker, finished the Fearsome Five story and then was gone. By that time, the momemtum that the book had was gone for me. I stuck around through the recent child slavery arc but dropped it soon after.

Thanks for pointing me to the article about Shawn Moll. The samples look good. However, I did notice one thing in the comments section, it looks like he may only be on for 2 issues:

quote:
"I wish Shawn the best of luck, and I hope he has a long healthy run on Outsiders."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the warm wishes. As far as I know, I'm only booked for these two issues, at this time.

VisionNick

I dropped Outsiders a few issues ago.
I dropped the book partially because I think that Winick's writing has really slipped on this and Green Arrow too, and due to Tom Raney leaving the book, who I thought was awesome.

I'm not familiar with Shawn Moll, but I'll flip through the new ish of Outsiders so I can check him out- but I doubt that I'll be buying Outsiders again anytime soon.

Well, you could always wait for the SC...

.. but do you really WANT to know how it ends before you read it? The reviews have been good, and I thought the first issue (I got it for $.75) was very good! Land's art was awesome! C'mon! Roll the dice! :D

Just for you, there's a lettering roundtable discussion conducted by Todd Klein in this issue of DRAW. Chris is part of the discussion, as well. Also, this is my first issue as designer for the mag, so be nice.

I read the lettering article tonight, as a matter of fact. You'll need to be a REAL lettering geek to enjoy it.

I enjoyed it muchly, even with the murky thoughts in the back of my head that more than half the discussion is dated badly in this day and age of computer lettering. I'm grateful I can always claim to be of an age to remember the great hand letterers.

And a Mark McKenna article is a nice boost, too. I had to pick this one up. . .

Nope. :)

As previously stated, I'm a Jean Fan. I love Jean Grey. I am extremely concerned that the current mad love that exists for Emma Frost will cause a story that is not Happy for Jean. ::face::

I need to know what the ending is before I commit to reading it. Stories I don't like unfortunately make me all gripe-y and mad for a lengthy period of time. This is not good for Eric. ;)

I'll be flipping through the HC to find out and then purchasing it if it works out.
