View Full Version : 5 Greatest Ultimate Spiderman Villains

This is how I see it:

1. Ultimate Green Goblin: Not only is he the most powerful villain in the Ultimate Spiderman series so far, but his nastiness and viciousness gives him another edge. It took Spiderman AND the Ultimates to even make him stop ripping at Parker. What a powerhouse! Plus he is going to leave a little presant behind.

2. Ultimate Dr. Octopus: Not only can this one change his tentacles into many weapons, but he is very smart as well.

3. Kingpin: No one else has been as devious in the Ultimate series as him. He rules more than just crime in the Ultimate series.

4. Ultimate Venom: It was close between Dock Ock and Venom, but Venom is incredibly dangerous in every way. Though unstable, this maniac was a monster in battle.

5. Ultimate Carnage: He not only murdered Gwen Stacy, but Carnage was a major match for Spiderman.

No opinions?

I honestly don't think Ultimate Spider-man has really gotten any good villians yet. All of them plae in comaprison to their normal marvel counterparts and ultimate carnage was horrible.

If there are any decent Ultimate Spidey villians it's Dr. Octopus and possibly Sandman. Electro is decent but his design is horrible.

I like the take on Ultimate Kraven, partially because I hate reality TV.

Hmm..

1) Green Goblin. I prefer the Ultimate Goblin to the MU if only cos he doesn't have any of the ridiculous baggage. The moment at the beginning of the Legacy arc when he summons Pete into his office, turns into the Goblin then threatens him was brilliant. Also, the actual physical transformation into a goblin, rather than the wearing of a costume, is how I think they should have done it in the movie.

2) Doc Ock. I never really got into this character much. He's a cool design, but no-one could seem to agree on a concrete personality/motivation for him. Bendis' mildly psychotic interpretation works for me, and simply because he's been written by the same writer, his story makes sense. Although after he was in both Ultimate Six and Hollywood, I hope he stays away for a bit.

3) Kraven. The reality TV angle was cool. I get the feeling that after another humilation or two, Kraven will finally snap and do something horrible... Ultimate Kraven's Last Hunt, methinks? I really hope this is where Bendis is going.

4) 'Just A Guy'. I loved the end of the Public Scrutiny arc when this guy was revealed, simply because it's very much true to Spidey's origin. The villains who have the most impact are not the idiots with super-powers, they can just be some random bloke with a gun.

5) Venom. My God, Venom with a coherent motivation. I really liked this so far, although I do think this character will be made or broken by how good his return arc is. It feels like he's only half finished, otherwise he'd have been higher.

Honourable mentions: I like the Kingpin, but he doesn't feel that different from the MU one yet... Electro and Sandman have been cool, but haven't had too much to do.

I haven't read anything after Hollywood yet (waiting for hardcover) so can't comment on Carnage. I admit Geldhoff needs work. If he comes back, I imagine he'll be stuck in the middle between Spidey and whoever the bigger villain is who did the genetic tampering on him. That might work.

The biggest thing I've noticed doing this is that Bendis hasn't introduced that many villains yet, but developed little families of them instead. There's the Goblin and Doc Ock, soon to be plus Hobgoblin, and there's Venom and Carnage, with Lizard attached. Not to mention the organised crime lot, Kingpin/Electro/Enforcers. I like it.

My god that was long.

The Green Goblin is a bigger threat than those guys.

maybe he is, but the design and new Monster green Goblin is horrible. The costume suited the cahracter much better. It also created more similarity between him and Spidey.

Plus from what I have read of him, he seems to be evil just for the sake of evil. I'm not getting much personality or motivation out of him.

5. Carnage- The most different of all the villains, and on the list for the horrifying way he killed Gwen.
4. Doctor Octopus- Because of his escape in Ultimate Six #2, the beating he gives Spider-Man in the Hollywood arc, and Mark Bagley's excellent redesign.
3. The Imposter- An ordinary man who got Spider-Man shot by the police, and killed one of his best friends.
2. Green Goblin- He was scary as hell when he tried to make Spider-Man his servant, led the Ultimate Six, and his legacy is still felt in the Hobgoblin arc.
1. Kingpin- Came back to New York City after murdering a man on videotape. Hurt Spidey's faith in justice. Beat the crap out of him in Ultimate Spider-MAn #10 (still my favorite issue). Daily Bugle shareholder. And his sick wife makes him sympathetic.

People, what's with Kraven? He lost in one punch!

I think people are rating them by how interesting their character was, not how good they are in a fight. Kraven's reality TV thing was one of the cleverest Ultimisations and, as I said above, I wanna see what happens when Spider-Man finally humiliates him one time too many.

Isn't it the same thing? A villian doesn't have to be powerful, clever, or anything like that to be great. They just have to have a striking impact and be memorable.

If you asked me what DD's greatest enemies where, I'd always put Stiltman in the list but he can be beat by pushing him over.

I haven't read Ultimate Spider-man but I have to say Green Goblin looks pretty lame. I almost prefer the movie costume.

Yeah. GG doesn't look like a goblin. More like a monster.

The movie suit is a little underrated along with movie GG.

Depends how you think of a goblin. I like the more vicious monster one, and a fight with the Hulk would be great. :D

I never said I didn't like Ult. Green Goblin, just that he's not as good as the old version. Also, it seems he could fight bigger characters. I mean, he did take on the Ultimates.

I do doubt that he could take the Hulk or Thor though.

GG whipped Captain America quickley and was beating up Iron Man.

1. Ultimate Green Goblin
2. Ultimate Dr. Octopus
3. Kingpin
4. Ultimate Venom
5. Electro or someone

No way is Carnage going on the list... as soon as he attacked Spider-Man just kicked his ass plain and simple. It was a one sided fight from start to finish.

BecauseCarnage had basically killed Pete's sister, though. I'd be POd.

Carnage is on my list because he was a Peter clone with extra abilities.
