View Full Version : What Instrument(s) Do You Play?

I'm trying to develop my singing voice. I also used to dabble with a harmonica and an electric organ.

Turntables count too.

No they don't.

Sorry turntablists! While I can fully appreciate the skills needed to do...that stuff, I don't consider it a musical instrument as such.

I play guitar. Only have a beat-up acoustic at the moment, but I much prefer playing electric. I really need to buy a new guitar and amp and join a band again.

I can sing okay in private but if anyone's around I'm too nervous.

I'd have to say that the qualifications for anything to be considered a musical instrument are too low for turntables to be left out - consider spoons, bottles, saws...

I attempt to play Guitar, I actually play Trombone, Tuba, and Euphonium pretty well. I also can play the radio ^_^

I play nothing. I've been told enough times that I sing well to believe it.

I want to take piano lessons, but unless I can learn to boogie-woogie rock & roll, I'm not sure I want to bother.

I play guitar, bass, keyboard/piano, drums, harmonica, and have limited knowledge on lots of different instruments. I aslo sing in my band every now and then when we play gigs or anything.

Another thing I do is this dence layed experimental stuff me and some guys just get together and make noise, tape it, and manipulate it just for fun. We're not musicians, we're noisicians.

I play guitar, just started bass, and mess around on my drum machine. Oh and I try to sing too.

I play guitar, and I sold my drums about a year ago. I was the drummer in a blues and early rock band about five years ago. Here's our gianormous name:

The Hoo Doo Blues Band featuring The Mojo Horns

Man, I miss being a band a lot, it was good times. Oh well, we're supposed to reunite when we turn forty. Fifteen more years to go...

I play the upright bass and electric bass.

I also play the guitar and sing but not professionally or anything. And I play the piano very badly. In high school I played the sax and bassoon but haven't really touched either since.

Tell that to my friend. Last night we got together an dmake noise and I set up my guitar with tons of pedals active feedbacking into his amp and made it start to smoke.

That's means you are doing something right. I used do weird shit to my guitar and amps in college while everyone was jamming to Dave Matthews I was trying to play my guitar with a screwdriver.

Think I went through 7 roomates.

Yeah. I heard Lee Renaldo did that at a Sonic Youth concert. I always was trying to find that perfect weird ethereal sound. I found it works better with alternate tunings. I broke a lot of strings.

I'm in a (totally sweet as hell) band called Menses Juggernaut. We wail hard.

I play the alto sax and the keyboards. sometimes at the same time.

we've only practiced once, but it was a sweet practice.

and I'm working on getting in a band called Awesome Sauce to play keyboards. And if they need me, keyboards in Morning Wail.

Lee Renaldo does that at every Sonic Youth concert. OK, that's an exaggeration, but they're notorious for that. Between Tom Morello, Adam Jones, Dave Navarro, Daron Malakian, Nigel Tufnel, and Jimmy Page, it's apparent that rubbing inanimate objects (particularly vibrators) against guitar strings is old-hat.

I play guitar, bass, and some keys.

I've yet to see him do it when I've seen them live. I keep hoping he brings out the belt sander though. Some people shout requests for "Teenage Riot" I shout requests for the belt sander.

I've seen Tom Morello do some freaky stuff with his guitar too.

I just looked over this thread and realized that I forgot to mention that I play guitar. Well I do...or at least am learning to. Geez, I don't why I didn't just start with the Hal Leonard Guitar Method that would've made things so much simpler and easier from the beginning.

I also have a harmonica but I almost never bother to make moves to attempt to learn it. Sometimes I forget I have even have it.
