here's my contribution, with such a lame joke worked into it, it's a quick sketch. I really think Angel was the X-men most likely to be gay... his powers are just so... gay like, his entire appearance, a well dressed, good looking man, over his ears in money and fame... it just sounds so... not completely heterosexual, and after seeing his costumes... they're colourful, very colourful, and he has a headband in several versions... I know gay people have a killer instinct for fashion, it's in their genes, but Angel is like Jack McFarland, a really flamer, the type who wears tight leather pants, with ass cut out.

no offense to anyone of course ;)

i believe Warren will come out as bisexual someday.. like a true, genderless angel that Austen is writing him to be....

Miles, your drawing of him is sexy though~~!!!
And Flight, your Angel is.... cute.

I liked this one a lot. Very interesting take. Warren's powers and looks do inspire a feminine interpretation.

Hey, Dosadi Experiment! I'm on my way to having the world's largest collection of "The Dosadi Experiment" (I think I have 7 or 8 copies now)!!! My friend just decided one day that I would accomplish this (without my input), so gives me a copy at every opportunity. We both hated the book (I think it's the middle part of series, and I can't remember much - no offense if you're a fan). Are you actually a fan? If so, can you explain the appeal?

Sorry if it's off-topic, but I couldn't believe it when I saw the handle!

The novel has a certain freshness over it. I've been a big fan of Herbert ever since I read Dune. The Dosadi Experiment however is a novel with a lot of different ideas. For instance Herbert has a little stab at his masterpiece Dune in the novel. Also he targets the lowest of the low, namely lawyers, after all in this book it's the lawyers who win their case who get excecuted.
As a whole I liked the ideas in this novel, and yes it's not the first novel that featured the main character. Jorj X McKie can also be found in one of the stories in Eye and in Whipping Star.

I'm not a huge fan of the novel, I just enjoyed it, I found it to be a very decent science fiction novel, above average. I chose the handle because of my love for Frank Herbert's writing, it was either this name or "Destination: Void"

I was all set to get started on Blackbolt, and all of a sudden, I started doing Angel instead. And then, I ended up doing his first fifteen costumes in one sitting. So here they are, most of Warren's looks...

In his pre-X-Men flashback costume as the "Avenging Angel"
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-AvengingAngel.jpg

In his founding X-Men costume
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Original.jpg

And the second version of the original X-Men costumes
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Original2.jpg

In his audacious graduation X-Men costume
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Graduation.jpg

RonnieThunderbolts
11-02-2006, 01:42 PM
And in this outrageous number from his days as a Champion
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Champion.jpg

And in his classic halo costume
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Halo.jpg

In red
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Halo2.jpg

And with differently colored gloves and boots
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Halo3.jpg

RonnieThunderbolts
11-02-2006, 01:43 PM
In his X-Factor team uniform
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-XFactor.jpg

After his transformation by Apocalypse into the Horseman of Death and rechristened Archangel
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Archangel.jpg

And with his hooded cowl off, circa his time after the original team left X-Factor and rejoined the X-Men
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Archangel-XMen.jpg

RonnieThunderbolts
11-02-2006, 01:44 PM
After returning to the halo look
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Archangel-Halo.jpg

And again in red
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Archangel-Halo2.jpg

And after regaining his feathered wings (which had been healing and regrowing beneath the metal ones given to him by Apocalypse)
http://jjinbeat.com/Cap/StarSpangledSite/Angel-Archangel-Feathers-Halo.jpg

Once more in red

http://designcanteen.com/angel07.1.jpgLove it, except (and I KNOW you'll take this constructively, or else!), and maybe it's just me, but the forearm muscle comes across as the arch of his back, and he therefore looks awkwardly thin.

That's like those "Is it a vase, or a face?" negative/positive things. Well, a friend posed for it, and that's the way the picture looks. Well, sans wings, anyhow. :)

That's like those "Is it a vase, or a face?" negative/positive things.EXACTLY! That's how I first saw it, and now it's just hard to see it as it's meant to be. Maybe a bigger contrast in color might do the trick for me, or more variation in the lines? Not sure. Regardless, it's still way technically better than I could come up with. :)

Well, you can do that in your head then if you want because I'm done with those parts of the drawing. I might change the wings and his ...erm... penis, but I'm pretty happy with the rest of it! I think the fact that I placed the title to cover his crotch is also affecting the balance of the silhouette - it looks different in my blog version with him completely naked. :D

Pyro, it's just the lighting. I always play with my colors, and I lit him that way when I took the photo. It's a nude portrait study I did of a friend.
