Pop princess Britney Spears has filed for divorce from her second husband Kevin Federline.

The 24-year-old singer has been married to dancer Federline, 28 for just two years.

She has lodged a petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences, according to a court spokeswoman.

The couple have two children: one-year-old Sean Preston and eight-week-old Jayden James. Britney is reportedly applying for full custody of both children.

She is said to have hired celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has acted for Angelina Jolie, Nick Lachey and Kiefer Sutherland.

Yeah Sinead is certainly talented, Nothing Compares 2 U is a beautiful song, she certainly had her crazy years. I think it is more that it is completely out of this persons known behaviour to do something like this as she always tryed to appeal to a very narrow female sexual image.

Couple that with her publically documented mental problems and it seems very much like self harm, especially as her image is all she has.

Even if it is a symptom of mental breakdown, it is nevertheless noteworthy how casually a simple head-shaving is ranked alongside flagrant exhibitionism and drug use, as if it's an equally serious transgression.

Jeez, even the mostly-serious Washington Post had a "Britney shaves head" headline somewhere on its frontpage. It's not like this needs to be said, but it's the celebrity-reporting/cult itself (as well as people's reactions to the behavior of the celebrities, sometimes) that is screwed up, moreso than Britney Spears could ever be.

Britney's downfall didn't happen because of the pressure over the paparazzi following her around. Her downfall happened due to horrible personal decisions. She had became so big and she really didn't seem to know how to handle having a personal life.

Her fall can start the moment she got booed off the stage at Rock in Rio . Her reaction was shock as she flipped off the crowd from her limo. Then drug allegations started and claimed she was using drugs to keep herself going.

Then she cannonballed between men. Justin Timberlake's breakup caused way more harm than possible to her mentality. In interviews she painted that the 2 lived togethor and never had sex. Timberlake would later tell Stern that was a lie and how could she possibly lie about something like that as the 2 were that close .

She fell into the arms of that irish man Colin Ferrell who bragged he too had her. After she denied that , she ended up in a drunken stupor in Vegas married to her old HS bf and had it annualled 2 days later. ( Lets put it this way...Jason Alexander makes Federline look like pauper)

She was in a freefall. Her albums sales had slipped with each album . The questions about her drug use , drinking and all was popping up. She was a loaded millionaire but her single life had became such fodder for journalists that she should have taken time off .

After Federline she was in major problems. She went on an extensive parting streak with Paris Hilton. Flashin the camera without wearing underwear and passing out in clubs. Spears who had lost her childhood to work and the idea that being a mother would be happiness seemed hellbent on trying to start over at 18 again.

As her actions got worse a website that had a huge membership shut down unhappy with how she was treating her children at home and her appearances as a drunken party fool. She went into rehab 1 day and left since odds are Federline would have a good case on getting the children.

Britney's actions have pretty much guarenteed a judge will see her having problems and all. The one 1 day in rehab and exit , plus the shaving her head telling people she doesn't want touched , will have him hand the children to Federline as her behavior will cost her the kids.

And to think , had she stayed home and tried being a mother to the children and dropped her obvious demons to get help at home , she odds are woulda kept the kids. But Britney has obviously nosedived down a bad slope.

I don't blame Britney. I more or less blame her parents for this. They pushed a young person too hard and when her mother should have stepped in and tried to protect her , it was derailing the gravy train that was Spears. Such a damn waste.

Losing your kids to Kevin Federline will be a blow as well.

Britney's downfall didn't happen because of the pressure over the paparazzi following her around. Her downfall happened due to horrible personal decisions. She had became so big and she really didn't seem to know how to handle having a personal life.

Then I clicked on the link and was horrified to find Britney shaving her head was thought to merit an eyewitness news team sent out.

And horrified even more by the reporter hanging around outside a tattoo parlour because Britney was there and then asking, without irony, about what Britney thought of reporters having around a tattoo parlour because she was there. Da fug?!

Given that she's been glammed up and marketed as a product for most of her life, this could be an act of defiance that shows she's taking control of her life.

Even if it is a symptom of mental breakdown, it is nevertheless noteworthy how casually a simple head-shaving is ranked alongside flagrant exhibitionism and drug use, as if it's an equally serious transgression.

Jeez, even the mostly-serious Washington Post had a "Britney shaves head" headline somewhere on its frontpage. It's not like this needs to be said, but it's the celebrity-reporting/cult itself (as well as people's reactions to the behavior of the celebrities, sometimes) that is screwed up, moreso than Britney Spears could ever be.

It's like this, if I eat a piece of cake then there's no problems. Bad for me, sure, but no problem. But if I eat a Snickers bar, two bags of Oreos, a quart of chocolate milk, three stacks of pancakes, a box of cupcakes, and THEN a piece of cake then I think everyone can come to the conclusion that something is wrong.

It doesn't take much to see that this mother of two is spiraling out of control.

A lot of them have caring families who don't over-push the children Rick. Like take Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Yes the one battled an eating disorder but have we ever seen the Olsens have a collapse on TV or be in such horrible personal matters ?

Ashley got help. Hell , she even made jokes about it on SNL " Ashley babe , eat a cheeseburger will ya ?" as a paparazzi. The family had a structure in place that seemed to help both girls. They assumed the big money company but their smart girls as we see.

Christina Aguleria ( and X-Tina as I blast her) came in at the same point as Spears. And I admit when she was 18 and a babe I thought she was fantasticly hot. But she seemed to know how to have a caeer and have a personal life.

As she changed she managed to slowly grow as she has married and seems happy. No rush to have children as we see. Her life has seemingly went on as she knows how to keep her lives seperate.

For every Lindsey Lohan and Spears that manage to do horrible personal decisions as a young woman who had little childhood , you have a Christina or Olsens who are smart enough to launch clothing lines and all.

I think the main problem is LA/NY . Those are big cities and they attract lots of attention as stars live there. But as we saw Leann Rhimes on the Grammy's with her husband , they perfer a little city like Nashville . They have said LA is a very hard pit like place and where they moved they don't have as much pressure on themselves or anything.

If Spears is faltering and Lohan maybe its time to pack up and move to a smaller city and go there awhile.

I grew up in the entertainment industry and had/have a few fairly high profile friends, many more friends whose parents were VERY high profile and I can tell you, fame fucking sucks.

The money is plentiful, but you can't go to a restaurant, a bathroom, a drive down the street without people clamoring to see you, talk to you, and most disturbing, touch you. It's sometimes impossible to have a simple dinner conversation, let alone go to a movie or just be normal.

Add to that the fact that there are literally dozens of people in the business hovering around you kissing your ass, clamoring for your cast offs and to be in your circle hoping for some of what you have and you enter into a world of little reality.

There are a LOT of broken homes and fucked up psyches in "Hollywood".

LOS ANGELES — Britney Spears will temporarily lose custody of her two toddler sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline, sources told FOXNews.com ahead of the official ruling expected later Monday.

Commissioner Scott Gordon will order the boys, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, turned over to Federline based on information that Los Angeles Family Court received over the weekend about Spears, the sources told FOXNews.com.

During Monday's custody hearing, Spears' former bodyguard accused the pop star of having "issues of nudity and drug use" since she returned from rehab, and reports of a planned "hit" on Federline emerged.

The bodyguard's attorney, the high-profile Los Angeles lawyer Gloria Allred, said in a press conference Monday that Spears' attorney chose not to cross-examine the bodyguard, who has been described as a "secret witness" against Spears in her custody battle with Federline.

The bodyguard, Tony Barretto, filed a declaration in the custody battle which alleges "nudity, drug use and safety issues post-rehab."

Allred said Barretto was prepared to testify under oath Monday, but neither the court nor Spears' attorneys chose to cross-examine him. She said his declaration went "unrefuted and unchallenged."

Barretto started working for Spears when she got out of rehab, and was fired on May 17 because, Allred said, "He did not hear her when he was asked to pick up her hat."

Barretto, himself the father of young children, came forward because while working for Spears, he became "very concerned" about the safety of her two boys, according to Allred.

Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said he was in court Monday because of a declaration that had been filed by him and because he wanted to be available should his client be cross-examined.

The ruling giving Federline temporary custody of his and Spears' children was expected to be handed down in Los Angeles Family Court later Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, "Entertainment Tonight" reported that the FBI and the LAPD are investigating legitimate leads on a contract hit on Federline's life.

Multiple sources told "ET" that the FBI made attempts to contact Federline to inform him of the potential danger. The FBI reportedly told "ET" that the bureau could not confirm or deny an investigation.

TMZ.com said reports of an FBI investigation into a plot to kill Federline are completely untrue — but an LAPD investigation was conducted in the past.

According to LAPD, the department opened an investigation into a threat on Federline's life nearly two months ago, but the case was closed due to insufficient evidence.

TMZ also spoke with the L.A. spokesperson for the FBI, who blasted reports claiming that the FBI ever confirmed anything about a K-Fed investigation.

"The information on the Internet on these reports is not accurate. It did not come from the FBI at all," TMZ quoted the spokesperson as saying.

Spears married Federline in October 2004. She filed for divorce last November; it became official on July 30.

The two have had joint custody of sons Sean Preston, who turned 2 on Friday, and Jayden James, who turned 1 on Wednesday. Federline reportedly has been fighting to gain full custody of the two boys.

Kaplan said the custody battle would go on at least until the end of the year, and that two court dates were set, one in November and one in December.

He also said Federline is not seeking to modify his current monetary awards.

"All of these frenzied reports that he’s seeking custody related to money — they sound interesting but they’re not accurate," he said.

Spears gave a disastrous performance last week in her opening act at the MTV Video Music Awards, which was followed by more purported photos of her without underwear hitting the Internet.

She has an album due in stores on Nov. 13.
