Great Idea!

Mine's 1976, and I... uh... I...

Crap.

Would it have killed my parents to do it, like, five years earlier? That would've been way easier.

OOH!

I do have Mingus "Cumbia and Jazz Fusion" which is not only my single favorite composition in any genre, ever, but is twenty-eight minutes long! I'm half-way there already!

Heh heh heh.

That was damn good. I was honestly thinking of "Don't Fear the Reaper" and "Step Right Up," though I didn't know the exact year on either.

And I'm a fan of Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed, and Parliament.

A CHUBBY CHEEK TRIBUTE EP - 1976:

1. Tom Waits - Step Right Up
2. Modern Lovers - Roadrunner
3. David Bowie - Sound and Vision
4. Parliament - Give Up the Funk
5. Lou Reed - Kicks
6. Ramones - Judy is a Punk
7. Stevie Wonder - Sir Duke
8. Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper

Final Version. in order:

1. Stevie Wonder -- Sir Duke (Best Stevie Wonder Song ever, kind of forms a long song bookend with # 13. Kick the album off on an up note.)

2. Earth, Wind, and Fire: Gratitude (Decent EWF tune. We need some upbeatness here.)

3. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers -- Breakdown

(my personal fave Tom Petty Song.)

4. Mingus - Cumbia and Jazz Fusion

(The centerpiece. As I said before, probably my favorite piece of music by anyone, like, ever.)

5. Tom Waits -- Step Right Up

(Hee hee. He said "Erection.")

6. Blue Oyster Cult -- Don't Fear the Reaper

(Ha! I'm so happy I got this one in my birthyear. I bet all the rest of you wanted this tune... BUT NO! It's MINE! HA! I laugh at your stupid birth years!)

7. Lou Reed -- Kicks

(Didn't know this song, but I found it on Windows Media and it's pretty good.)

8. The Meters -- Trick Bag

(I think this is the only tune I know off the Trick Bag album. Good song, anyway.)
9. Weather Report -- Barberry Coast (Kinda smooth-jazzy, but a very nice solo from Jaco Pastorius. If this is actually the song I'm thinking of...)

11. Crying -- Roy Orbison (One version of "The Very Best Of" was released in '76.)

12. Parliament -- Give up the Funk

(End on an up note, before seguing into...)

13. Warren Zevon -- Desperados under the Eve

(The most depressing song on the album! Another long tune to balance out "Sir Duke." Aaaaand cut.)

Crocker is gonna be so jealous....

That's right, it's 1977. London's burning, Studio 54's flying high, and nobody is playing country, bluegrass, or blues at CBGB's. And then, as if things weren't bad enough, I was born.

SIDE ONE of the original album:

1. Richard Hell & the Voidoids "Blank Generation"
2. ABBA "Dancing Queen"
3. David Bowie "Heroes"
4. The Clash "Police and Thieves"
5. Wreckless Eric "Whole Wide World"
6. Kraftwerk "Trans-Europe Express"
7. Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers "It's Not Enough"

SIDE TWO of the original album:

1. Brian Eno "King's Lead Hat"
2. Neil Young "Like a Hurricane"
3. Talking Heads "Psycho Killer"
4. Iggy Pop "Nightclubbing"
5. Blondie "(I'm Always Touched by Your) Presence, Dear"
6. The Commodores "Easy"
7. Television "Marquee Moon"
8. Fleetwood Mac "Don't Stop"

BONUS TRACKS on the CD reissue:

16. Elvis Costello "Alison"
17. The Bee Gees "Stayin' Alive"
18. The Damned "New Rose"
19. Randy Newman "Baltimore"
20. Wire "Three Girl Rhumba"

Damn, that's a good mixtape. I'm making the playlist for my mp3 player as w speak.

Edit: So side one is approximately ten minutes shorter than side two, and side two is the length of an average album. Details, details...

Took a little time and research cause 1975 was Disco-filled...

You ain't lyin'. That's quite a pile of crap I'm seeing on the '75 pop charts. Your list is pretty good, though a few don't quite suit my tastes in music. I tried to come up with something better. Substitute songs for the ones I don't like and so forth. Just isn't gonna happen. 1975 apparently sucked, musically speaking.

Then again...Toys in the Attic. Who needs a mix tape?
