Was there any kryptonite in Kandor, the bottled city? I seem to recall that Superman lacked powers whenever he visited there.

Isn't that because it simulated Krypton's enviroment, including it's Red Sun?

Probably... though I haven't read the comics fully, isn't that Preus guy that's fighting Supes in one of his titles a Kandor resident? Since he's out of Kandor, he's got all of Kal-El's powers now, right?

The new Kandor doesn't have any Kryptonians in it, actually. Preus' powers come from an armored enhancement.

huh! Thanks for the info.
I think I'm following now. That's why in that story a couple years back where Clark thought he was living on Krypton but actually was in Kandor, he had powers but others didn't, because they weren't Kryptonian! So Kandor hasn't been a Kryptonian city since Pre-Crisis then, what with the whole "Last Son" element?

Just to clarify, I was asking about pre-Crisis Kandor in a bottle.

If there was any kryptonite in Kandor, then all the Kandorians would have died.
Supes' lack of powers when in Kandor came from its simulated red sun (because, really, who wants a couple million tiny superheroes running around his Fortress of Solitude?).

Jor-el was building a full size ship in the city but, before it was done braniac the robot stole and shrunk the city. Later superman defeated the robot version of briniac and recovered the shrunkin city. he placed the city in his fortress of solitude. The enviroment of kandor is the same as krypton. as he tried to fins a way to enlarge the city and it's people safely.
superman could visit the city via the microwave tunnel. in fact he and jimmy spent some time there and becane night wing and flame bird, non powered heroes of the city, inspired by batman.
The kandorians could leave the city and even grow a little bit, due to the same mireocwave tunnel. So instead of being very small they would be i asume about 3 to 4 inches tall. They had super powers but of cause do to their size reduced.
These kandorians who left became the superman emergency squad. Who left the bottled city in time of great emergency usulay to pull superman and supergirls's fat out of the fire.
Kara zorel's [the orginal supergirl] parents were found not to havve died when argo city was hit by meteors which damaged the lead covering the green K that the rocks of argo became after krypton exploded. They survived in the survivile zone a phantom zone off shoot.
They were finaly freed and Kara's parents and supermans uncle and aunt decided to move to kandor to live with fellow kryptomians.
Superman finaly succed enlarging the city , but the kandorians decided to live out their lives and created a new krypton on a planet that phaze shifted back and forth out of our reality.
When supergirl died in the crisis superman returned her body to her parents wraped in his cape.
last scene was her parents screaming in anguish off camera.

What's the deal with Post-Crisis Kandor, though. I have read some stories featuring it
(and it's blue and horned population) but never the story in which it was introduced.

In Pre-Crisis DC Kandor was shrunk/stolen by Brainiac before Krypton exploded so the material didn't undergo a chemical/elemental change when the planet blew up.

Post-Crisis Kandor was used as a repository by the wizard Tolos. We never learned HOW he got the city and recent events indicate that Brainiac abducted the city from Krypton.
It's dimensionally out of synch with our universe and while Superman was off dealing with President Luthor and the Brainiac 12, Kandor became unglued causing a hundred years to pass there while less time passed in our world. A race with Kryptonian-like powers (only under a yellow sun) waged war with telepaths, building a racist religion in honor of their legends of Superman and his visits to Kandor and coming to believe that they were the true, pure Kryptonians. Superman was entrapped there by a telepath and Preus, a ranking officer in the police state, became disillusioned with his "god" when he met the true Superman.
