anyone played this game?(xbox) i just rented it and im pretty disapointed..it has a mediocre combat system with heavy flaws, one being the bard is extremely slow and there is no attribute to raise his attack speed, so he's always getting hit many times before i can get off one hit, also summoning help with your magic flute is fun for 2 minutes, most of the things u summon get killed rather quickly, i prefer being able to use magic directly, the only thing that saves this game are the somewhat funny cutscenes..thats really it, waste of 6 dollars, i hate the bard

See, I found It just the exact opposite (PS2 here) . I loved his Swarmy approach to the story. then again, I had the old game on a C64 back many years ago. I really liked the updated version.

I can understand that I suppose. It's based of the Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance Engine, which when they came out, People once again Either loved It or hated It.
I think I was just used to It by the time Bards tale came out.

I enjoyed this game well enough, that it fell far short of great. It was funny with some great songs, but not very challenging.
I got killed a lot at first, but once I started gaining some levels nothing, including the various bosses, could stand up to me for long.
I beat it in under a week and sold it off, having no real incentive to play again.

I can't believe it was made the same people who did the original Bard's Tale stories. Very dissappointed. I can't imagine that any of the people who played the original Bard's Tale games in the 80's will be thrilled with this.
They should have taken lessons from the people who did Wizardry 8.

THe C64 version was classic. Too bad they haven't tried to do an Online version of it yet.
