Looks like Marvel just changed artists on Cap. Anyone have any idea why this change just happened so late after the books already in Previews.

The creative team and storyline for Captain America #7 (MAR051904, $2.99) has changed. The issue will be written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by John Paul Leon. Its new contents are as follows:

"Nomad is dead, struck down by the same hand that killed the Red Skull! Now, in a special interlude issue, we step back into Jack Monroe's last days and trace his last steps. Where had Jack been all these years, and what was he drowning his sorrows in some dive bar? Also -- what did Jack see that night, right before he breathed his last? You'll be shocked to find out!"

The issue's cover, by Steve Epting, is shown here.

Those story sumamries sound like shock for shocks sake. Why can't we just have good stories that DON'T feature people getting killed or horribly scared?

Horrible scared? So what, you want them lightly worried? Mildly arroused? Poked with a blunt stick? You couldn't have an episode of Scooby Doo without them being scared.

Anyways, something tells me they got JPL as a fill in. Notice the rather one-shot nature of the story summary. And given Epting's style, he probably just needed the time to start catching up without the Lark interludes taking up some of the slack.

Ehh says Interlude issue I would think Epting just needed a break

Man, I hope this isn't gonna suck, I like Epting illustrating Cap.

Speaking of which, if you're going to have a fill in artist, JPL is a lot better than, say, Dave Hoover.

John Paul Leon may not get too much work, but he's still a damn good artist.

And if they've decided they need fill-in issues, I like the idea of having them be short stories between the bigger ones (like DC does with LUCIFER) better than just having another artist draw a chapter of the ongoing storyline (like Marvel did with Morrison's NEW X-MEN).

LOL...
When I first read this post above, I thought it said....

"John Lenon may not get too much work these days, but he's still a damn good artist."

To which I must whole heartedly agree....

The original issue seven contents have been rescheduled for issue eight... I don't think there's any danger here, Epting just needed a break. There have been a few delays here and there on Cap, so it's understandable, and JPL is damn good.

I meant scarred. My fault. Sorry.
