I love drawing, and i love hellboy, and i love drawing hellboy! I hope to post here often, and for now i have a couple of drawing to show off. The first i did while watching the movie, and second is more accurate to the comic, and also a work in progress. Any comments are welcome!

That looks like it could be the Iron Giant in the second drawing.

I took it out of the scene in conqueror worm where von klemt is talking about failed projects, but since thinking about making it more dynamic, i have changed the perspective of the robot and added some bullets holes right thru him. Pics in a couple o days. Its gonna be sweet.

Thanks! I hated how the first one came out digitized tho, the lines are very clean in real life. Darned technology.

Ok, i redid the robot and shaded it. Im sorry the image quality is so bad, if anyone can point me in the way of a scannning tutorial......

Any comments? Also, does anyone know how to scan my sketchbook in and reduce the size and still retain image quality and detail? Because this looks a hell of a lot better in real life.

Things to remember is basically if you reduce the size of something, you increase the dpi.
10 x 10 at 100 dpi
should be 5 x 5 at 200 dpi
and vice versa
Obviously here, things need to be 72 dpi, so unfortunately it's math time.

Alright, everything is finished. Maybe someday ill get around to inking it, but getting the shading on the cylinders would be hard to replicate. Your opinions are always very welcome. Now, on to the next one.
Good job. When doing action, think of the man line of action. If HB is ready to pound something, arch his back more. Think of an archery bow. Stand up and act it out, if not in front of a mirror, just to get the feel of the position. Think about how your arms and legs align.
A great book on action cartooning - and applicable to more realistic work - is Ben Caldwell's ACTION! CARTOONING (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0806987391/qid=1111544993/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/102-2372285-9184149?v=glance&s=books&n=507846)
Check out his action sketches on his website DareDetectives.com (http://www.daredetectives.com/)

Bonesthedog, I like your drawing. Not only did your scans improve but the drawing did too. I like the final version. :)
It would be great to see you try to ink it. Maybe since it's Hellboy inspired you could study the way Mignola uses shadow and angular blocks of heavy black.

Thanks for the comments. I origonally was gonna have him giving an uppercut to him, but when i changed the perspective on the robot, it seemed less dynamic. Hmm.
