Who's it going to be? (Just because Howy asked for it, and he's cool)

Geez. Might as well ask a Christian if they prefer the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit.

Sumlin on points, but no sane person should be forced to choose.

On concur. I could chose between Coxon, Easton, and Summers (or what ever the last three choices were; I forget) but these three? That's hard.

That is a toughie, but I should point out that Ry Cooder would fit better with Cropper and Robertson.

That being said, I think I'd pick Cropper.

Ask me tomorrow, and I might give you a different answer.

The correct answer is of course, the late Danny Gatton.

For shame Komrade Mark!

Well since howy has Steve Cropper covered I'll guess I'll explain Sumlin.

*Ahem*

Howlin' Wolf's guitarist.

(Oh and one of Hendrix's favourite guitar slingers.)

Agreed. He should be made to memorize the secret names of all bluesmen before he can re-instated.

After some thinking and then a little listening, I pick Robbie Robertson.

On a slightly off topic note, a friend of mine had his degree confirred by Robbie Roberson, lucky sob.

On a radically off-topic note, every time I see somebody use an acronym for "son of a bitch" like that, I imagine the person sobbing, unable to control their grief.

Cool.

I pick Robbie Robertson, for his work on three albums:

1) THE BAND
2) THE BASEMENT TAPES
3) LIVE 1966

Wow! How did he manage that?

Wow! How did he manage that?

He graduated from Queen University in Kingston, Ontario a few years ago. Convocations usually have special guests that present those who are graduating with their degrees. He was lucky enough to have Robbie Roberston be the fellow who gave the degrees to the Bachelor of Arts graduates. Robertson was also given an honourary PhD of Arts, not a bad deal for doing a speech and shaking hundreds of hands. Pretty cool, huh?

I was hoping for Bob Dylan, but instead I had Roberta Bondar, some Canadian Astronaut, hand me my degree. That pales in comparision to Robertson. Oh well, she's kinda cool too.

Oh. OK. I know what he sounds like, then.

Big long notes.
