View Full Version : Insanity in Videogames.
It doesn't occur often as much anymore, since they take the time to translate games, and give them stories, but the one thing that keeps popping back up in video games are things that make no sense at all.
In this thread, i suggest we list some of these things, and then try to explain them.
For example, in Ikari Warriors for the NES ( i cant speak on the arcade version) this was one of the bosses

It didn't actually do anything, but it gave me nightmares as a child, a gigantic...zombie thing sitting at a desk.
Which fit in well with the army guys, and later, robots.

Hey Alex, your picture isn't showing up, at least for me. Can you post it again? I want to see this nightmare inspiring zombie!
Here's some video game insanity... or perhaps this is better described as hilarity. That's right, it is Zero Wing's poorly translated dialogue which I feel can be categorized as insanity.

Ill try it as an atachment.
Understand, the reason this bugged me so much was because it was completly out of place.

Early games are awesome for this stuff.

I can see that traumatizing a youngster. The zombie is pretty creepy.

Insanity can be fun. In Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, the excellent PC game, one of the seven clans that you can play is the insane Malkavian. Sometimes you will hear insane whispers during the game, and your vampire can actually have an interesting conversation with the television set in his apartment! The light armor for the malkavian includes a big red and white striped Dr. Seuss/Cat in the Hat type hat. And your vampire has the ability to inflict madness on others.
EDIT: oh, and the hot, hot chick on the box cover is insane, too, in a very sexy way. Yeah, it always seems to work out that way in real life, too.

Revenge of Shinobi on Genesis. All of a sudden, Spider-Man shows up and starts kicking your ass for no apparent reason. And it was Spider-Man, with a full license at the beginning and everything.
To a lesser extent, Choplifter on the Sega Master System. There was an easter egg where if you shoot a bunch of missiles out of a launcher, Superman flies out of it. I don't think there was a license for him.

A lot of things in Silent Hill are pretty much insanity.
