View Full Version : So, what's going to happen to Spider-Man?

The gollowing was announced at WizardWorld LA.

A huge Spider-Man event is planned after "The House of M," with Stracynski on "Amazing," Reginald Hudlin on "Marvel Knights Spider-Man" and Mark Waid on an as-yet-undisclosed Spider-Man title looking at Spidey's interaction with the rest of the Marvel universe, all together telling more "unified" stories about Peter Parker. Quesada also said they've "plotted out the next two years for Spider-Man."

So what do you think the big event will be?

I think he'll have a kid. A nice kid, maybe even a daughter. One more thing for him to be happy/worry about.

Whatever they do will probably get us ready for Spider-Man 3.

I think Peter having a kid would be a nice way of regaining some of the old responsibility dynamic without throwing anything out of the proverbial window. Peter is now responsible for the life and rearing of his child, but at the same time he is forced to be Spider-Man, which means missing out on his kid's childhood.

Mary Jane might be understanding of his need to go out and fight crime, but her perspective may change once Peter starts missing out on raising their baby. And when the kid gets older he or she will not understand why Peter is never around to spend time with her/him.

I really hope this is it.

That sounds great! But I really doubt it since it seems to me as if Marvel is trying to de-age Spidey

I heard someone's theory here or somewhere else about Spidey being publicly outed . This would be quite a huge change , and might likely happen because of the whole avenger stuff ...

Now i dunno how i'd feel about that ....

Nor i dunno how i'd feel about that ....Yeah, I remember when Aunt May first found out there was talk of him being publically outed and this was over two years ago. It's definetly a possibility but not one I'm a fan of at all. Honestly, I have no idea what the huge event will be. I mean, if you'd told me two or three years ago (or probably even last year) that Spidey would be running around as a member of the Avengers, I would've laughed it off, so I have no idea what's coming up.

If they do go the kid route, I really hope they bring May back instead of having a new one. It wouldn't even require a retcon...rather, it would be undoing a crappy retcon. And what with Marvel time, the kid's only gonna be...what, a year old? Two?

Interesting thought...if Kaine has really been raising May all this time, and if May was born with powers, then maybe Kaine's already started instructing her in their use? The younger a kid is, the better they are at learning, after all. Maybe toddler May is already bouncing around walls the same way that other 2-year olds ride tricycles? All the while being too young to understand what a "secret identity" is or why it's important. That'd be a handful for Peter!

Unless they go with that "accelerated aging" thing that I hate SO much...

i dunno i'd like some novelty for that kid , not a may-day 2 , because we like spider girl and want her somehow in the official mu :D

I had heard the same thing, but it could have been speculation here that we read.

I also forget.

If it's a kid (hadn't thought of it, but it's so obvious) it may be related to the Spidergirl crossover mini series.

No offense but thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard for a spidey book. This isn't daredevil.

Marvel said the events of Amazing #500 won't come into play for a long while. If you recall, Peter had a son named Ben.

I love the baby Idea, hate the outing Idea and ignore the possible future of ASM#500.

Ive been a fan for ten years now and ive seen some dumb things, heard worse things and enjoyed few things. One thing that ticked me off was when the original baby was gone, it was said to have happened because marvel didnt want to make Peter Parker seem old. Oh yeah, taking him out of college and putting him back in a dozen times doesnt show he is old at all huh? Then the mary jane is breaking up scandal a billion times since the clone saga, and when it happens...(or rather when she was thought to be dead and gone for like 2 years and then left after the stalker episode) everyone complains that peter needs MJ. NOw i read the New Avengers and ill say thats its good, but Peter parker cannot be outed because its very freaking stupid. Too many villians know already and that takes out so much of its realizism because...why dont they share they knowledge and attack like peter fears? There is barely any continuity anymore, and having him outed is going to suck it up even more...i mean cmon look at how wonderfully the story of his webshooters being gone is being exploitted (ITS NOT!)

oh man i will have a serious problem with Petey having his ID outed. i've always been down with what ever Spidey's writers ahve thrown at me, but i honestly think his idea is the biggest taboo in comics.

the baby idea i don't mind, i'd also definately like to see the return of Kaine. but i really think that a kid would pretty much make Spidey quit. either that or MJ would leave him for not quitting. i suppose this could be a way of them getting rid of Mj like they've always wanted without killing her or the two having a divorce. they might just amicably seperate or something. (not that thats what i want, i love MJ)

as long as they don't out him i think i can handle it.

actually the only thing from clone saga i would agree to let come back , would be Scarlet spider (of course along spidey existing as well , or at least ben's costume as spidey) . But with Spidey on the verge of becoming the 2nd wolvie , in terms of exposition in the MU :D , i guess not everyone would be happy .

But Kaine coming back ? please no :D

ps : also back off MJ and their couple !!!! . De-age them if you want , but dont break them up !!

I'd rather they not have a baby or his ID get outed. Maybe I like Spiderman stories where a suprise villain returns like Kaine or The Jackel ! I'd love to see that.

I do not want to see Peter Parker with a kid...yet. Or his ID outed to the public. Or the return of the worst Introduced charactors In comics like the Super-Aged Gwen/Norman love children. I sure as hell hope JMS never brings them back.

Thier enough of a punchline already.

If it ties into the third movie (a depressing notion) it's probably the return of Harry Osborn.

I vote the return of baby May!

I wouldn't worry about it. Marvel will have an Ultimate Hobgoblin trade to push around the time of the movie's release. :)

Its just good to here that they know whats going to happen already. Have plotted it out and have most things set i would think. I just wish peter would pay a yearly tribute to ben R. by wearing his costume every year. And what the hell do they meen by more unified. Oh well, its not like im gonna stop reading siperman anytime soon. Bring it on.

He was de-masked in New Avengers and several Marvel heroes know his true identity. Only question: How would J. Jonah Jameson react?!

But Mark Millar claims baby May is dead. The Scorpion (who works for Norman Osborn) said it.

Well, I doubt Nornan and Gargan are such great drinking buddies that they tell each other everything.

"Yeah, I made Parker think his baby was dead, but in reality I kidnapped it and sent it to this cult overseas. But then this psychotic Spider-Man clone butted in and stole the baby away, so, that kinda bummed me out..."

I'm just saying, the opportunity is there should any writer choose to resurrect it. :)

Well, he might get it wrong at least. People that like to wear green suits tend to be stupid. Just look at Paris Hilton.

Personally, I think Eddie raped MJ and then Doctor Strange altered his personality. That's why Venom has never been cool again since the 90s.

maybe that was the plan all along. all the Spidey editors wanted their Amazing 149's to increase in value.
