Umm the new Cap stuff is pretty good but, when did 616 Cap start killing? That was one of the hallmarks of the character. Cap was a super soldier tachnically speaking, but he didnt kill. I remember when he killed that guy in Flag Smashers crew with an uzi and it disturbed me back then but I realized he had no choice. But nowadays this basically seems like Ultimate Cap in regular Marvel Universe.
Now truth be told I LOVE Ultimate Cap...dudes are scared of him....but 616 aint ultimate 616 is the golly gee Cap that I grew up idolizing and Im not sure I like the change...

you are referring to Cap #1 right?

Well his intention ws not to kill them... and Cap isn't Batman, I think if it was really neccesary he wouldn't hesitate to kill.

The priority was the people on the train. That a TERRORIST died was unfortunate... but remember, Cap is a soldier in the United States Military. He's killed before and will likely have to do it again.

Thank God, at last Cap has a writer than isn't ducking the issue of killing or constantly bailing Cap out so he doesn't have to kill anyone.

My point is that historically Cap hasnt been a killer he was more along the lines of being a preserver of life type kinda like spidey....I know Im not the only guy who remembers this.I mean how could he condemn Wolverine as he has been shown to do, if he is a killer himself?

Because there's a difference between what Cap did and what Wolverine does. Cap threw his shield to prevent a bomb from going off and killing a train of innocent people. That a terrorist died avoiding the shield was unfortunate, but the safety of the innocent people Cap was protecting was, and should always be, the priority.

Wolverine intentionally goes out and kills. There's a huge difference between intent and accident.

I am not referring to that incident in particular I am saying that in general Cap is way more violent than he has been...Even in New Avengers he seems a bit more aggresive. Im not saying Cap should be a pushover, its my opinion that Cap is probably the toughest fighter in all of comics...but he seems to be more...meanspirited than he used to be.Like Superman, Cap could be considered the Worlds Biggest Boyscout.

Just be glad I am not writing Cap's title. I would have Cap throw his shield at his foes, decapitating their heads and sutch. And if a man as strong as Cap punched a man over and over again, the man would die. No way Cap or any other super powered hero could fight villians, without any casualties. Just like police officers do not fight crime casuality free.

Well ever since the Avengers disbanded an the Red Skull escaped Cap has been a little bit cranky...and it's fully understandable

I'm personally glad its that way , i never was a fan of cap til his recent run and appearances in other current series .
One of my probs with the guy was always the "boyscout attitude" , albeit thats one hell dangerous one :D . Anyway i'm likely to drop the title and go back in the anti cap side , once he become "normal" again .

I know how he's supposed to preserve life, but he's a freaking soldier man. As much as he wishes he doesn't have to kill (and i'm sure he does) Cap has to kill sometimes to preserve life, even though that sounds like an oxymoron, it's true.

He had to nearly kill wolverine in the latest wolverine comic because he was brainwashed for example

Someone go dig up my responses to this from the vast issue 1 thread on the subject.

Short answer, no, he's not a "killing machine" but there is more to it than that. Read all the back and forth about this, and about Cap continuity throughout the years. That Gruenwald Cap scene was 18 years ago, and 18 years before that, Steranko's Cap willfully blew up Hydra agents by the dozens.

He just knocked him down. Not nearly a danger of killing. Wolverine is very hard to kill. He survived blows from the hulk.

BUt didn't he like, send him to the hospital or something? I forgot what completely happened, but I'm pretty sure he beat him up. and forget it anyway, it's just an example. You like contradicting people don't you?

Not really, only when i think that they are wrong :D .

I agree with you that captain america is a soldier and has sometimes to kill to achieve a goal. He fought in the WW2 and i donīt think he just knocked the enemies out.

Thing is Cap knows that whatever damage Cap inflicts on Logan he will heal

Yeah, like Ed mentioned, this exact discussion basically took place in the Captain America #1 discussion thread.

Just check it out there...and feel free to respond in that thread! :)
