In the "House of M" preview pages (here) (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/marvel062005/big/HOM001021_col.jpg) Warbird is shown wearing her new costume (the one first worn in the "Red Zone" arc of Avengers).

Prior to this she was shown wearing her previous costume, in Avengers Disassembled, and in recent issues of Thunderbolts.

Could _Somebody_ please make up their mind???

Simple explanation. That's a Ms Marvel costume as opposed to the Warbird one we've seen in the other stories.

Stick with the classic. Of all her costumes, the yellow bolt costume in blue or black is IMO the better. Heck, I'll even taken the red/blue over the Red Zone one...

Even simpler explanation: Olivier Coipel created that costume, and is drawing House of M.

I love the second costume Carol ever wore, the black (dark blue?) one, with thigh high boots, a yellow bolt across the chest and red sash.
Striking, simple design...a very memorable costume

Do you ladies own more than 1 outfit? I bet Carol does to :D . We all know that women can never make up their minds on what to wear day to day ;) .

can't stand the Copiel costume (although I love his art). Put her back in the lightning bolt, red sash costume.

The only thing this does for sure, is lend slightly more credibility to the notion that Carol will be joining the New Avengers at some point. I mean, why give her a new costume for absolutely no reason? Sure, maybe Copiel just felt like it, but I have a feeling editorial might want a somewhat more substantial reason.

This is NOT a "new" costume--this is the costume Coipel gave her 2 years ago, during his run on AVENGERS. Carol has been flip-flopping back and forth between this costume and her classic one ever since, depending on artist and writer preference. She wore the classic during a guest appearance in Uncanny X-Men. She wore the Coipel suit in Avengers/Thunderbolts. The classic suit for Disassembled. The Coipel suit for Avengers Finale. The classic suit for New Thunderbolts. Now back to the Coipel suit for House of M. I don't think it means anything aside from Coipel prefering to use the costume he designed for her.

I had no idea, as I was not reading comics at the time, much thanks for clearing that up. Still... I get a feeling Bendis has plans for her. :)

You're welcome :)

As for Bendis having plans for her...it wouldn't surprise me. He has listed her as a favourite of his, and she was a supporting character in his ALIAS series and is a good friend of Jessica Jones (and also has a friendship with Jessica Drew, for that matter).
I'd like to see Carol get put to use as a regular in a series again, but if he does use her, I hope it doesn't interfere with her role in New Thunderbolts (and I hope he makes better use of her than he did in Disassembled--Carol was badly out of character, but then most of the cast were, apparently due to Wanda's manipulations).

Ick, it's the return of SK8er Warbird!

Yes, because invulnerable women should have plenty of padding and armor! :p

Really, Olivier, what were you thinking?

Ugh, I know. This also goes against Carol's reasoning behind her classic costume in the first place--she prefered the greater flexibility and freedom of movement it granted her. Why Coipel felt the need to tamper with a great costume is beyond me.
I'm also not fond of the new helmut he gave Scott Lang...but the suit itself wasn't bad. His new outfit for Wanda was also pretty good (and worked well with her traditional look). But his redesigns for Warbird and Jack of Hearts were just...wrong.

I liked the Scott Lang helmet redesign alot, it looked more high tech since he could have had any number of displays in there. It also looked more weird and bug'ish than usual.

Jack of Hearts looked cool to me too, kind of like a knight since the suit was used for containment still but not as busy looking in detail. I still dig the hooded classic one though.

I like the old Ms. Marvel suit too. Problem is, there's really no place on it to stash a hip-flask or two! :evilsmile I suppose you could use the red sash to support one of those "liquor holsters" you see waitresses wear in clubs sometimes. But that might be too edgy, not to mention prone to breakage.
The new costume looks like it has some possibilities in that regard. Who knows, there might even be a "camelback" type of system integrated into the armor for "liquid refreshments."

Don't like them eh? Tell you what. You get a job with Marvel designing the Avengers costumes to your likeing :D . Oh, thats right, you have no artistic skill and are not a fashion designer. Just pulling yer chain there buddy :D . But it is the truth.

Here is the thing, I totally understand wanting flexibility in your costume, but why wear a bathing suit basically? I would like a redesign, but one which doesnt involve armor plating. :D

Agreed, Fever. Although I really like the design of the old "Ms. Marvel" outfit, I'm not opposed to an update (it IS very "retro"), just not this one.

Well, I think you can keep the same colour scheme and motif, just cover her up a little more and lose the sash, that might do the trick. Ah, if only I could draw.

Personally, I don't mind the new costume. I prefer the classic one, but the Coiopel design isn't bad.

I just wish somebody in charge would make a decision and say "This is Warbird's costume."

Like I posted, just pulling your chain. But yes it is the truth that you will never be designing the Avengers costumes for Marvel :D .

I'd like Coipel to update the classic one, just as he did with Wanda. Carol doesn't need body armor, but she also doesn't need to be wearing a bathing suit. Let's get her into something with function and form--and by form I mean something that isn't dated and/or cheesecake.
