It seems that there are a lot of books crossing over with House of M, so the question is, will you be picking those up?

You just have to be difficult, dont you? Tell you what, from now on, all of my polls will include the choice "Or whatever Jake V likes", would that make you happy?

No, I am not getting any of that M crap!
Right on. I'm drawing my line in the sand. I will probably pick up the first issue of House of M, just to see how it is. But I'm not going to support a series designed solely to kill off characters.

Why do you think that? I haven't heard that as the reason. Crisis killed dozens of characters but that wasn't why it was done.

Yes, I am getting everything involving House of M!
There should be another yes option because I am going to get a few House of M tie-ins from the comics I already buy(and maybe Spider-mans tie-ins) but not every single one.

I guess that's why I said I'd check out the first issue to see what it's all about, but if it does turn out to be just an excuse to get rid of what is perceived as "dead weight" in the MU, then I'm out. From what I've read, the storyline is that Wanda's "reality-bending" powers (which, by the way, she only really had during the horrible Byrne stories in WCA, and even then were explained as due to the machinations of Immortus) have been active since her first appearance back in Uncanny X-men 3. Thus, Bendis is going to rewrite the MU from almost its existence forward. Given that 4 characters bit it in Dissassembled, I'd say it's a fair bet that more bodybags will be necessary for this series. Personally, I detest this kind of "Everything You Know Is Wrong" kind of story. I hated it in Identity Crisis, I hated it in Sins Past and, should House of M turn out to be what I think it will, I'm not going to like it any better.
I wouldn't even compare House of M to Crisis at this point. First of all, such comparisons can only be made after we've read House of M. Secondly, if you think about it, the only "death" in Crisis that have been permanent was Barry Allen. Supergirl is back (again), as are many of the other characters that "died" during Crisis, albeit in different forms in many cases.
So, perhaps my first post was a bit hasty, but after reading the mess that was Dissassembled and hearing that House of M is basically a sequal of that story, I think my apprehension is justified.

I couldn't get all the tie-ins if I wanted them. Comics are such a expensive hobby.

I would follow Olivier Coipel's pencils blindly, into a gay British hand shandy party, and I am 110% heterosexual :D . So I am all over the Coipel stuff. The rest, I will wait and see what my budget dictates.

Yeah, it´s gonna be a pretty tough month looking at all the stuff DC, Marvel, Image and the Indies are gonna out out, but hell...I´m a total geek, I´ll get it all. :D
But changing stuff Lee and Kirby built...aw, now stop being silly, that will NEVER happen!

Nahh, I'm not gettin any of the tie-ins, but I am getting the series
the reason why i'm not gettin the tie-ins is I don't like em, too many books that are not on my list, a tight budget and a sub-plot that doesn't interest me...oh well lol
but I am completely ecstatic about this series, the art looks great, the preview i read seems like the story will be awesome, can't wait

Iron Man: House of M will start in July by writer Greg Pak and artist Pat (Transformers) Lee. Both tie-ins will feature new versions of the Hulk and the Iron Man armor, respectively.
Ok now here is one i'm not sure to buy  . Because of Pat lee of course . i'll wait to see if the art is in any way like in the horrid X4 :D

From what I hear there will be a max of only 4 HoM tie-ins and that includes M itself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll do what I did with Dissassembled. I bought the series, and then picked up the trades of the tie-ins that I thought I'd like. Only bought Thor, but we will see what happens.
However, with Marvel's track record as late, I'm kinda getting this strange sense of panic and dread. It's not that I've hated a lot of the stuff. It is just that the level of quality is WAY down, and D.C might just win the race next year!!!

I've been reading Marvel to long. I've learned through to many hard times that "tie ins" generally don't, no matter what the hype. Especially because i'm not exactly a huge fan of house of M. It could be good, but I there's really room for concern. A huge Deus Ex Machina Character written by a writer who has shown he is unafraid to use said character as a DEM. HOnestly, Marvel's big projects have been sucking lately.

Two points:
1- If your answer is "I will only be getting the tie-ins if its in a book I already get", then you can answer that you are only getting the Mini, because really, you were going to get the other issues anyway, you are not buying them because of the tie-in.
2- I had not heard the theory that Bendis will rewrite large chunks of Marvel history to his liking, using Wanda as an excuse. If this does happen, by some amount of LSD, then you can expect to drop all my Marvel titles at once. Im not saying if he changes the origin of one character, but if he uses this series to drastically alter the classic works of Lee and Kirby, then I am out like parachute pants. :D
EDIT: After reading the Wizardworld coverage, I am more scared than ever that this may ruin the MU for me, really, I am terrified.

I'm in the wait-and-see category for the tie-ins. I'm not gonna say for sure that I won't buy any of them (aside, of course, from the ones in titles I already collect), but thus far I haven't heard of any that have grabbed my interest. But if I see one that looks interesting, I may pick it up. But I am most definately not buying all of the tie-ins--even if I wanted to, I can't afford it.

I am avoiding the whole thing. If somehow I start hearing really good thing sbaout what happens in the story I might latter pick it up in trade, but Bendis has done nothing as of late to make me thing that I will like this storyline. I see this whole thing as Brian Bendis Recreates the Marvel U in his own image.

I can already tell you some good things about it. Olivier Coipel and Tim Townsend is the art team. And almost every former and current Avengers and X-Men member will appear in the mini series. Just seeing Coipel drawing all of these characters is enough good news for me :) .

I have been a big fan Coipel since he first came over and started doing Legion of Super Heroes, but even my love for his art can't get me past the Bendis factor. I have really grown to have an intense dislike of his writing.

Like I said BENDIS. I just really really dislike the guys writing and his total takover of the entire Marvel U. My dislike is so strong that it just cancels out my love for Coipel. It is really kinda sad cause if this would have been writing by ANYONE other than Bendis I would have been all over it.

This looks like an AoA thing to me... Scarlet Witch changes the MU for a few months, then she's defeated and it changes back... Possibly with a few bleed-overs like X-Man.
If so, I'm up for that if it's done well. Mark Waid doing an alternate Spidey sounds readable to me, particularly with Salva drawing it. Likewise, I'm sure PAD will come up with a fun change for the Hulk.

Why do you dislike Bendis, exactly?
I only ask because I find this interesting. Do you dislike him soley because of his "powerhouse" status, as you suggested in your previous post? I can understand if you dislike his stories or dialogue, but if you just "dislike the guy so strongly" because of the quantity of the books he writes and influence he has over the MU, I find that strange.
The MU was built on "powerhouse" writers like that, and if Bendis keeps spinning his yarns in an interesting direction, I'm up for anything he spits out. I think he's an amazing writer, especially in considering how freakin' much he writes! So I'm just curious if you dislike him as a writer, or if you dislike him personally for some other reason.
I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just curious is all.

Depends.
I'll definately buy the mini. And I already buy moist of the Avengers and X-titles. So as long as it doesn't spill over into to much stuff I don't already read, then yeah I'll pick 'em up (also depends on finances at that time).
Also sort of depends on the quality and how interested I become in the books.

Because everybody worships him? Because Marvel thinks he's still the greatest writer? I got nothing. I like him, but ummm his wiriting lately has not beed so great. He's just so overworked now that he's not putting out anything as great as what he used to write.

I think Benids does have real strenghts in certain things he writes. His street level stuff like Daredevil has been one of the best runs of the book. It is just he doesn't seem to have the abilty to write beyond that to me. He wants to ground everything so far in reality that it just takes alot of the wonderment out of the Marvel U. That and the fact that I don't think any writer since Stan Lee has had THIS MUCH CONTROL over the entire Marvel U, and frankly he just doesn't have the smae kind of thinking that Stan did that made the Marvel U so much fun to begin with. I will say it again his style just doesn't really work well on anything outside of the street level kind of hero. On Daredevil he is great, I think he would be OK on Spider Man or Captain America, but once he starts taking on Mutants and guys like Dr. Strange he just hasn't shown he has the abilty to write these kind of characters. That and when you factor in the Bendis seems to be running theings more the Quasada over at Marvel these days.
I think Marvel has become so stagnet lately with just 3 or 4 writers basically running the majority of what goes on in both the regular Marvel U and the Ulitmate U. Yeah there are a few writers that seem to buck the trend and write stuff outside of the Bendis type mode, but more and more it seems like everything coming out of Marvel has to have the name Bendis, Miller, Ellis, or JMS on it. And if it isn't those 4 guys they seem to be getting guys who write in a style that is very very simular to theirs. There are the ocasional outside the box guy like Slott, but there are becoming a dying minority over at Marvel in favorer of Bendis flavor writers or the European guys.

Man you nailed it really well, Whedon, Niazia and Brubaker are the only ones that don't seem to want to write in the hyper-reality still that Bendis likes. These are comics not Soap Operas.... I miss the fun.

There should be another yes option because I am going to get a few House of M tie-ins from the comics I already buy(and maybe Spider-mans tie-ins) but not every single one.
There's another option or two as well:
I'll skim it on the rack, and if the tie in is essential to the storyline, I'll pick it up. If it's only partially related, I might get it, depending on what happens in the issue and if I like that character or artist...
If it is a tie-in in name only (like much, if not all of the Avengers Dissembled cross-over/tie-ins were) then I'm not touching it. I should be able to get a feel for that by glancing through the issue on the stands, spinner rack or at the comic store. (HEY Kid, quit ch'er reading....we ain't running a library here!)
Fortunately, one of my three shops in the area allows fanboy geeks to pick out an issue or two, sit on their couch and read without buying... however, I suspect if you never bought anything, you'd be in for some trouble eventually. I always make it my practice to buy at least one book, no matter when or where I walk into a shop... so they KNOW I'm a paying customer. The exception is if the books didn't arrive yet this week, or on any particular day, and then they understand if I walk out empty handed, only to return later when they are processed and out on the rack, etc.
Do other stores have this practice, or are we just blessed here in Athens, OH?

I plan on picking up all of them, but if they suck and I could care less about the outcome I will drop the tie-ins. I am looking forward to it.
