View Full Version : Good Green Arrow Stories
I was just wondering what some good Green Arrow stories were that showed how great a hero he was. Also I'd prefer it if the story was collected in a TPB. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'll be the first to say Quiver.

The Poison Tomorrow by Denny O'Neil. Great love story.
The Archer's Quest. If you're a Speedy fan, it can't be beat. Lots of subtlety, but a big heart.

Green Arrow The Long Bow Hunters LS (collected)
Best Green Arrow. Period.
Thanks everyone I'll look into those.

The current Green Arrow series is brilliant. It's been collected in TPB format. I would recommend reading it from beginning to end as you'll no doubt be wondering how Ollie came back if you start in the middle. Kevin Smith's Quiver is first, followed by The Sounds of Violence, also by Kevin Smith. Next was Brad Meltzer (read Archer's Quest) and then Judd Winick. As far as classic Arrow goes, you would be nuts to miss out on the famed Green Lantern/Green Arrow stories by Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams. They're some of the best comics ever set to print. There are two volumes, both in TPB format.

I don't read GA regularly, but I STRONGLY recommend the trades collecting Kevin Smith's issues.
Here are reviews for QUIVER (http://comic-reviews.blogspot.com/2005/03/green-arrow-quiver.html) and SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE (http://comic-reviews.blogspot.com/2005/03/green-arrow-sounds-of-violence.html).
Also, as someone else suggested, the GL/GA stories are excellent.
Thanks for the advice everyone I'll think I'll start with the Green Arrow/Green Lantern trades.

Good idea. Just keep in mind those comics were from a different era and may seem a bit alien if you're only used to reading modern comics. All in all, they're some of the best and most important comics ever published, so they would get my recommendation.
I've read comics for pretty much every age so that won't be a problem :D .

I didn't like Longbow Hunters. I want to read about Green Arrow, not Punisher with a bow.

Punisher with a bow is an exageration.

But a very accurate one.

The Archer's Quest by Brad Meltzer has been my favourite Green Arrow story line, but Kevin Smith's Quiver is a close second.

Quiver is very accessible for new readers. You don't have to know GA history to get wrapped up in the story.
