well.. not to be biased but i guess it's flash.
sure he's among the top selling comics today, but did you guys notice that:
- his book is now run by the rogues. oh and they will get their own storyline too.
- in jla, he's seldomly used in the fight scene.
- future bart's got cooler powers than him. why did geoff not use it today?
- he got stabbed by ds. :D
- where is flash at the jlu?
- he's always the guy in the background.
- even catwoman beats him here.

of course this is one man's opinion. who's yours?

Yeah, I think I'd have to agree with you.
I really need to pick up the Flash book sometime soon, but I can't spare the cash to get the trades yet.
Another character who doesn't get much respect? Captain Marvel. Hopefully that'll be changing this year.

-He's still got his own comic (unlike some)
-He's in Justice League Elite as well
-He's got a mini-me now
-At least he's in the JLA
-He was in a recent JLU episode and will be in several more
-Everyone in that scene got their asses handed to them by Deathstroke

I do believe that the reason he wasn't in JLU until recently is due to the fact that he is voiced by Michael Rosenbaum, who plays Lex Luthor on Smallville...

- bart allen??? :D
- and j'onn has more dialogue than him in every issue.
- ralph dibny has more dialouge than him.
- for what happened to wally and especially kyle.... kinda unfair.

-Be happy he isn't in limbo like so many others
-Well they could have used Martian Manhunter just as easily; he is a shapeshifter after all. They picked Flash
-Yes, Bart Allen
-Currently the Crime Syndicate has more lines than the JLA. Kinda hard to judge at the moment. He'll get more lines come Johns' Batman/Identity Crisis fallout story begins
-In the episode he was in? No, he had the most dialogue and was the focus Leaguer
-Well yes, but when has DC been about fairness? Just look at how common disasters and/or gang wars are in Metropolis compared to Gotham

Flash is doing very well in the grand scheme of things. As for DC characters who aren't getting their due, how about Deadman?
Deadman has the potential of Neil Gaiman's Sandman, given the right creative team(s).
Also, what's the word on Kyle Rayner joining the Outsiders? If he doesn't, then he gets my vote for character who needs a step in the right direction. The whole "He can't get along with Jade" argument doesn't cut it for me. Kyle joining that team would be the perfect fit.

Really? Doesn't hold water? I mean... she dropped him while he was in space and he found out by finding the guy in his shower in his apartment (in New York no less!), then was told by Jade to get out and this is your fault but hey we can still be friends. I mean... I really can't see him joining a team that's led by the person who did that to him. Maybe if she was a member, but not when she's the leader.

I'm well aware of what happened. I still don't buy Kyle not being able to join the team over it. Anyone who's ever been in a relationship knows that wicked problems are bound to occur. You grow past them. Kyle and Jade are both in their early 20's... you get over crap real soon when you're young. Worse things have happened to me. And because of me. You live, you learn, you laugh. Bottom line - Kyle ought to join the Outsiders.

I agree to a point. I'm in my early 20s right now and I've has some bad relationships. I shrug and move on because there's nothing to do about it now. That said I wouldn't take a job with one of them given the choice, especially if they were my boss.

Really? I would if they were cool enough. I guess it's all about personal opinion, though. :)

C'mon.... a couple of those guys DESERVE no respect. :D
All kidding aside, there are a few characters here and there (not too many at all) who are more interesting when they're NOT being respected. The DCU needs its court jesters. I don't want to see Eel O'Brien becoming the new Spectre or anything.

When I say no respect, I am not talking about them being treated seriously by writers, but that they are not featured in any kind of ongoing series at the moment. Guy may possibly be a regular cast member in the Johns/Pacheco Green Lantern series as part of the Corps. The rest however will problably not be so lucky :( .

Yeah, see, if it were one of the "eh, we're not really into one another any more. See ya!" things, yeah, sure whatever. If it was like Kyle came home to... no. No way in hell. Doesn't matter how cool she might be, no.
But yeah, it is personal opinion.
And I personally want more Question, though I'm making due with the current Urban Shaman version in his miniseries. More than making due actually, but I want an ongoing with actual character development. ;)
The other favorites would be the members of Suicide Squad, but I'm betting a lot of them'll be around in Villians United. Which kicks ass.

I think that is a pretty good, list and I would have included Captain Marvel except he seems to be up-and-coming now. I would have listed Adam Strange a year ago, but he finally got a little love.
There is a bit of a coincidence/theme in that Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, and Captain Marvel were all purchased rights from other companies. I think Kingdom Come established a lot of gravity with CM, and he getting his long overdue props.
Captain Atom suffers from being seen as an "Official" US Government hero, more from his original Charleton chracterization than anything. Writers have hard time utilizing him, since working for the govt. = bad guy/dupe in most stories today. I have feeling the JLU animated Captain Atom is heading down this road.
Blue Beetle is bar none the coolest character concept not being utilized to anything close to its potential.

Hawkman
Aquaman
Deadman

Oh, so I guess that means I can't say Nightwing. That poor boy has been allowed to disintegrate into a royal joke. Can you believe it's the character that got me back into the DCU. Gee wiz...

deadshot, deathstroke, animal man, and shade the changing man
Deathstroke needs less "respect", not more. He's being pimped as the Next Big Thing of villains EVERYWHERE now, and it's starting to get on my nerves.
The least they could do is change that retarded orange costume into something I can take seriously.
The same applies to Deadshot. He needs a costume change even more than Slade. Either that, or a retirement - his gimmick isn't very appealing.

Flash is getting PLENTY of respect, in fact I would put him third or fourth in the DCU.
Character who really arent getting the props they deserve:
Aquaman
Hawkman
Captain Marvel

He does need more respect. He has been reduced to working with a teen sidekick. In his own series, he stated he would never do this again. He also said that he would never put his children in danger again. You would think that he would do all he can to keep his children from following in his footsteps especially after what happened to his first-born.
Slade is not even a Merc anymore. He has now been reduced to Over-the-top-villian status. His honor code has been blown to the winds and he nolonger occupies that grey area between hero and villian. This is not even the same character that wanted to mend bridges with the US Army.
Oh and characters that I think need more respect
Steel-(John Henry Irons)
Captain Marvel
Captain Atom
Orion
Eclipso
Darkseid

or are being creatively handled poorly...
Nightwing: Still being written as Batmans lil Biatch after Dixon Spent years trying to make him his own man in bludhaven...
Triumph: Which is why he turned bad in the first place...
The Ray: What can I say except NOT USED AT ALL!!
Azrael: A Casualty of the Bat...
Richard Dragon: Chuck I normally like your work but this guy is going nowhere real fast..Especially for someone that Nightwing looks upto.
Conner Hawk and Arsenal: Damn You Kevin Smith....
Kyle Rayner: After all these years of proving yourself like Steve Young was to Joe Montana...Some People just couldn't let Hal go even after 10 freakin years...Now that Hal's back...no further comment....

Actually, it's *literally* going nowhere. The book is cancelled; #12 is the last issue.

The ATOM!
Ray Palmer was the fourth (I believe) Silver Age reboot for DC and had his own series for years. Luckily, he does pop up once in a while. Unfortunately, some of those appearances were to make him a kid again (embarassingly stupid idea) or to turn his ex-wife into a love-crazed murderer (also embarassingly stupid idea).
Given the story potential for a hero who can walk between molecules, the Atom just doesn't get much use. His appearances in Hawkman seem to be more for conversation than superheroing.
I wish DC would put out more Atom Specials. Surely the character can sell one comic a year, especially if it crossed over from another title.

The ATOM!
Ray Palmer was the fourth (I believe) Silver Age reboot for DC
Let's see, in order, there was...
1. Flash
2. Green Lantern
3. Justice League (Society)
4. Hawkman
5. Atom
On the other hand, if you're only counting solo heroes, he would be #4, or alternately, if you're taking them in the order they got their own ongoing series, he would also be #4 (Hawkman appeared first, but Atom got his own book before Hawkman). Just in case you're ever playing comic book trivial pursuit or anything... ;)

Hi I'm a newbie but I'd say
BLACKHAWK.Too many reboots but a property most have consigned to comic book limbo because its perceived to be "dated"
Well the original concept of 7 men banding together to fight nazism in ww2 can be modified to be a war on terroism. Besides Lady Blackhawk is something else.

I'm pretty sure Lady Blackhawk is actually in the current Birds of Prey. Introduced in 75 if I recall correctly.

He was possessed by Jericho. Needless to say, Slade was pissed afterwards.

I can't agree with anybody who says the Flash isn't getting the respect he deserves. Any title that has Geoff Johns writing it is getting the respect it deserves. I kind of hate to say it, but to me the answer is Aquaman. While I understand that the options surrounding a title that is set largely underwater may be limited, the way the book is being written and drawn now makes me suspect that it's an afterthought at DC.

I really like the flash as a character, however I haven't really enjoyed where the writers have taken some of the story lines with him...it doesn't allow him to shine. He's awesome anyways but.
The problem with Flash is that his book focuses on his villains much more than it does on Wally. It should be galled "Flash's Rogues Gallery" rather than "Flash".

The new Batgirl. She's got a mantle with some prestige and has pulled her own ongoing for five years, but still isn't treated like a part of the "official" DCU. Barbara fricking Gordon gets more guest appearances than she.
