You're talking to the guy who's invested hundreds and hundreds of hours into the game. I've done games where my character focused on magical combat (House Telvanni, Mages Guild, Tribunal, Imperial Cult), physical combat (Fighters Guild, Imperial Legion, House Redoran), and stealth and thievery (House Hlaalu, The Thieves Guild, The Morag Tong, The East Company).
Then there was the time I went on a quest to kill *everyone*.
Unfortunately, the guards kept regenerating.

I'm playing the game right now, and loving it. The only thing holding it back for me is that #*$%ing journal. I can't keep track of my quests.

I thought the PC version kept the journal a lot more organized.
Or maybe it was a mod...

probably a mod. I tried looking for one, but so far having found anything yet.

Ah, I was wrong.
The journal upgrade came packed in with the Tribunal expansion.
But if you're playing GOTY, Tribunal should already have been installed...strange.

Morrowind is an incredible game that despite my having beat it multiple times still draws me back, and I don't even have the expansions. And the next instalment I've seen screens for looks utterly spectacular.

He is, of course, talking about these screens for Elder Scrolls:Oblivion.
Imagine Morrowind-style gameplay, combined with those graphics and effects.
Yes, you may start drooling now.

How's the Xbox version?

i have the xbox version, the framerate suffers a bit but otherwise i enjoy it, comes with both expansions, im on about level 60 or so with my character, beaten both expansions and the normal blades quest, became a vampire for a while, still occasionally strap on the werewolf ring to go terrorize a city or two...but since ive done all the mage/fighters guild quests and arent allowed to join trhe thieves guild there isnt much left for me to do
i went on a killing spree as a vamp tho, my vamp was godlike, except i made the mistake of going to mourhould and picking a fight with all of almalexias guards..powerful ordiantors who beat my ass

I enjoy the Xbox version, too. There are a couple bad things, though.
I don't know if it's like this in the PC version, (what I've heard seems to say no) but it's really dark. Unless you're playing at night, you almost need a Night Eye spell to go into caves. (well, you can get by, but it's a hassle)
Load times are pretty long if you're starting from the beginning of a play session, but after that there's only occasional long loads.
My copy had a tendency to freeze a lot, which seemed to go away when I started saving often.
The journal is pretty bad.
However, the menus are pretty easy to navigate, and the control system is easy to get used to.
The good is worth enduring the bad for the Xbox version.

yeah its frozen for me a couple of times, and the only long period of loading is the initial load when u first turn the game on, other than that its almost instant, i havent had trouble with bad lighting, maybe its my tv i dunno

My son and I are both playing the XBOX version. We are enjoying it though we are at the very low levels of experience. I agree that it does take an inordinate amount of time to load up the game initially. Is the area to explore as big as the map makes it seem?

hmm, guess I'm in the minority. I must say that the Elder Scrolls series contain three of the worst RPGs I've ever played. Arena's story was nonexistant, the combat was awful, and the dungeons were too long and too confusing to be any fun. Daggerfall was similiar except it was RANDOMIZED. Dungeon design was virtually thrown out of the window. And Morrowind... I swear the only saving grace the game has is its massive amount of mods, who are sometimes better than the game itself. I can ignore the absolutely horrid gameplay, the bad character creation system (sure there are lots of choices, but when you don't have any caps on any skills, one character is the same as the other, and it completely takes away the uniqueness in my characters), the bad leveling up system, the disgustingly painful dungeon design, the all-you-can-suffer-fetch-or-kill quests, the excruciating FOLLOWER quests, the complete LACK of meaningful and interesting characters, the boring dialogues (where did your dialogue choices go to? I hate the topic dialogue system), and the bland story presentation, but I simply couldn't suffer its lack of FUN freedom. Yes, FREEDOM. Morrowind indeed has the freedom of TRAVEL, but in terms of DECISIONS you can make, there are few. You can't join Dagoth Ur, or any of the "evil stuff". Hell, what fun is there in being evil when the only thing it means is that you kill people randomly? Even when you get choices to join a particular alignment of a faction, which is kind of rare, it never seems like you make any effect that is different if you chose somebody else. Bloodmoon's main quests did give you some choices, but I can't say I cared for them. In terms of having fun with freedom, I felt it was nonexistent within Morrowind, unlike the Fallout series, Arcanum and etc. Hell, there wasn't even any sorts of good quest completion paths. (for example, in one Arcanum quest in trying to get into a mansion, you could persuade the guard you're a friend, pretend you're a newly hired butler, do a quest for the guard, sneak in via an underground tunnel or simply sneak in using the front gate, or just go on a killing spree. When did you see these arrays of choices in Morrowind?) It felt like the only choice you had was in ACCEPTING the quest. It bugged the hell out of me. But it's long, I'll give it that, though it's still just boring to me. Kudos to all their little books though, that was actually decent to read.

what can you do. I played Daggerfall first, hated it. Then Morrowind was out, and with all the hype I tried it out, and it sucked horribly. And then Arena was made free by Bethesda, and it was even worse. It's like the final fantasy syndrome. No matter how much you disliked all the rest, you're tempted to try them out with all the hype.

although i cant really judge cuz ive only played morrowind goty, so idk how the other games are, this game is a good rpg, now yeah the combat system needs work and i'd like a diff magic system to, i dont like having to push a button, wait for him to change his position, then ahve to push it again to do magic, a lot of th etime id push the button and get hit so i'd have to repush, it made it hard to do magic during a fight unless u went in there ready, other than that as far as freedom is concerned this game rules, its fun to not have a set pattern, i started the main game, halfway through just stopped, did sidequests, then did both expansions then completed the main game, i like that freedom, and theres still a LOT i havent done, if it had a better combat system it would make the game even better, and sometimes it IS confusing on where a certain place is located and sometimes you get bad directions, but it isnt a horrible game by any means, if they can improve these things in the new game, it wll be perfect

Have any of the XBOX Morrowind players also played the Baldur's GAte Xbox games? If so how do they compare to the Morrowind game?

BG for Xbox is nothing like Morrowind. It's a Diablo-esque dungeon crawler. It's purely combat and dungeons. And the coop mode is awesome. You can't compare the two. Though I've enjoyed it far more than Morrowind, and it's not even in the same league with PC BG IMO.
