Does anyone know if there are plans to release episodes of the Batman tv series (the Adam West version) on dvd? I can't believe this hasn't been done already...A Batman season 1 dvd set would be a welcome addition to my collection....as well as seasons 2, 3 etc....

No plans. WB owns the rights to Batman and Fox owns the the rights to the tv series. So a lot of legal wrangling I'm afraid.

I know that they got some rights-wranglin here but how could they put out the Batman movie and not the series?.....

I'm assuming Fox and WB already had a home video rights deal worked a while ago for the movie because it was on VHS for a while too. Also it came out before the TV on DVD craze really hit. No explanation has ever been given. But I guess it's a money issue more then anything. As in who gets a bigger piece of the profits.

I really hate that this is being held up. It's a natural for the DVD format.

Yes. The 60's Batman Show is just a natural for DVD. It would obviously be a big seller no doubt. Wish FOX and WB could work something out. Surely both companies know theres a load of money to be made off putting out the 3 seasons this show aired. Something could, and should be worked out. And fast!

Luckily, I recorded quite a few of these on FX, during the whole BATMAN FOREVER, and BATMAN & ROBIN hype. About the only thing BATMAN & ROBIN was good for. :D

Right, they already had a deal in place (from the original contracts) that allowed them to release the movie in any format that comes down the pike.

Different matter with the series. I've heard that beyond the two studios agreeing, they'd have to get the principal actors to sign off on any deal, as well. Don't know if that is true, though.
