Hi, I just wanted to announce that I'm in the early stages of preparing a webcomic, based on my ideas of what a Superhero comic should be: The Adventures of Dr Power (placeholder name). The basic plotline follows the adventures of Dr Power, one of the first superheroes as he returns to Earth from a 20-year trip through deep space, arriving in this day and age, to find a world quite unlike the one he left.

...Of course, being one of the mightiest and smartest of superbeings, he's going to be doing something about it.

Now, my intentions are to write a webcomic that has both Silver Age-like innocence, along with modern wit to it, without being either too corny or too cynical.

Here are some early character designs for some of the main players for my webcomic...

Doc Power, the superhero of my story. He's essentially a combination of Golden Age Superman with Doc Savage, and the mindset of Captain America. A physical powerhouse with a brilliant mind, Doc Power has the mindset of an old-fashioned four-color superhero, and lives by those old-fashioned values.

Another of Doc Power, in flight.

Doc Power's starship, the Power Rocket. Though it looks retro and a little smaller then expected, it's constructed from incredibly advanced technology and materials Doc Power himself constructed, and is a well-performing machine.

Young college student Kevin Carson is one of the first people whom Dr Power encounters upon his return to Earth, and happens to be the son of Carl Carson, Dr Power's old "Best Friend" in the old days. He ends up becoming Dr Power's new "mundane companion", helping him get adjusted to the modern world, and generally serves as a reader identification character.

Dr Power's other, more chaotic "sidekick", Metamorph is an alien that he picked up on his outer space adventures. He is a shapeshifter who's been studying Earth's "communications broadcasts" for so long, he's become practically insane.. He's the comic-relief character, like many other shapeshifters in comics and cartoons.

And finally, one of my comic's first villains. Devlin Draco is the head of Dracotech, and the son of Dr Power's greatest enemies, Dr Damien Draco, a scientific madman who tried to take over the world numerous times, then disappeared after a climactic last battle against Dr Power. Devlin Draco came onto the scene after Dr Power left for deep space, then built a tech company using the scientific knowledge left behind by his father, and turned it into a corporate powerhouse.

Thus far, I'm still in the design stage, creating potential characters and what-not. I've got some ideas for more members of Dr Power's rogues gallery, and for some more allies, such as The Wraith (a Batman-analogue based on one of my RPG characters), and a Wonder Woman analogue who's actually a Faerie Princess.

Just wanted to post my ideas here, get some feedback. I'm open to suggestions...

Nearly forgot to mention... Metamorph was a character suggested by my friend, Megaraptor. So, like many great comic authors before me...

...I took the idea and ran with it. :D Thanks again, Mega!

Looks like there is potential; decent idea.
