You can find the details here (http://www.millarworld.net/index.php?showtopic=39452) (go to the last page, and scroll down a bit)
Real shame, Kurt is my favorite writer and I was really looking foward to his run.

That's the biz, I guess. Still, the man won't go hungry or anything. And hey, more time for Astro City.

Here. This might help:
To quote something I just posted at the DC boards:
"I won't be the regular writer on JLA after all -- by my own choice. I've been having trouble with the deadlines, as has Ron, and I ultimately came to the conclusion that on a book that requires this much coordination, that ties in with so much of the DCU, I simply can't manage a monthly schedule, not with my current health. I'd still like to do the book regularly, but it'll have to be another time.
"However, that doesn't rule out me doing more JLA stuff -- if nothing else, there are at least three follow-up stories planted in the "Syndicate Rules" arc, maybe more. So the plan is for me to write some follow-ups, on a schedule I can manage, and maybe they'll be used in JLA CLASSIFIED, maybe in the main book, who knows? But I was just talking this morning with a terrific artist who's interested in doing one of those arcs with me, and I'm sure he's someone most JLA fans would be very, very happy with.
"So I won't be back after Geoff's arc, but I'll be back. "

shame really like him
But that why I all ways say for writer he know they have a promblem. They should all ready have 4 issues done till they even put the first issue out.
This give them a lot of breathing room.

Is Kurt talking about Perez? The two of them working on JLA would make me very happy!

That's too bad!
Kurt is one of my favorite writers. I didn't know he had heath problems... GET WELL KURT!
What's up next for you then Kurt? Anything else in the Marvel or DC pipeline coming down? (Are you DC exclusive?)

Well, I certainly hope Kurt tries in the future to come back to JLA, or even the DC side of things.
You're a great writer, Mr. Busiek.

This IS a bummer! I haven't been crazy about the CSA arc but Busiek is my favorite writer and I was looking forward to him doing a nice long stretch of JLA. Too bad.
Maybe they can keep Johns on it, Johns doing JSA, JLA, The Titans, and The Flash?!? Excessive, sure, but he's really good. JSA has been the best team comic for years now.

Don't forget he's also helping with Countdown and writing the new Green Lantern series after GL: Rebirth.
So Johns would be doing JSA, JLA, Teen Titans, Flash, and Green Lantern. Which I'm sure would lead to JSA/JLA crossovers, JLA/Teen Titans crossovers, and obviously he'd have to have Flash/JLA and Green Lantern/JLA crossovers since they're both members of the JLA.

Shame. His JLA story has been getting better and I was looking forward to him taking on an extended run. That's the nature of the business. Best of luck to Kurt, Ron and the rest.
Aw man! Kurt's writing actually got me interested in JLA again.
I'm not interested in Geoff's 5 issue run so hopefully they find a good replacement after him.

As much as I like Johns, can't DC get any other help on writing these days besides Johns & Winnick??? Hopefully this is just temporary and they will get a regular writer soon.
Hope Kurt's health get's better and more Astro City stuff at his own pace would be excellent. I already see that the Dark Days mini was resolicited, so that could be a good sign.

Well, I guess I am the only one so far to be happy about this news. I somewhat like Busiek's scripting, but I despise Garney's art style. The only character I have liked that Garney has drawn was the Hulk. If DC wanted to have the JLA sell in the top 10 every month, they would get Grant Morrison back on the book pronto.

Not remotely DC exclusive -- my one monthly series now is CONAN, from Dark Horse. If you haven't tried that, the first collection is just out, in very reasonably-priced editions, and the series has been getting great response.
Between that, ASTRO CITY, ARROWSMITH, MARVELS: EYE OF THE CAMERA, a follow-up of sorts to SUPERMAN: SECRET IDENTITY and other projects...I won't be hurting for things to fill my time...

They gonna continue the rotating creative teams or what?

I'm sorry a WHAT???? Superman: Secret Identity is easily one of the greatest Superman stories I've ever read. Hell, it's one of the greatest comics I've read period. And there's going to be a follow up? That's just AWESOME news, I just hope it includes Stuart Immonmen.
I'm sorry to hear that you won't be the regular JLA writer but this defintely makes up for that.

If so, then what precisely is the point of the Classified title. No, JLA definitely needs a consistent team, as far as I'm concerned, for AT LEAST a dozen or so issues.

On the bright side, with all do respect to Mr. Busiek, Allan Heinberg has been doing a GREAT job on Young Avengers and I am looking forward to what he will do in this book.

The point of Classified is that the stories can take place at any point in JLA continuity. Meaning they could have stories with Barry Allen in the Satelite era or could even have some adventures with Vibe from the detroit league.

Stuart's not involved -- he's exclusive to Marvel at present -- and it's not a sequel or about Superman this time. But it's definitely a companion tale.
I expect we'll say more when there's some art to show.

So Geoff is up next on JLA, right? Who pencilling it?
And what ever happened to the Slott/Jurgens arc I heard about?
Is it just me, or is every superhero book on the planet now written by either Johns, Winnick, Rucka, Bendis, Millar, or some TV or Hollywood guy?
Right now you're chances are better off playing in the NBA than getting a gig writing for the Big Two. :p

yeah its a shame, loosing Kurt will hurt because JLA really needs a regular writer...
Maybe DC can convince Morrison to write JLA? Since he will be writing for All Stars. Or maybe Gail Simone? (I Know her arc is in Classified but still..)

No !!! b Say It Isn't so. God 1st I read Marvel's raising prices of the books and now this ? Busiak , please don't go. I loved the arc and felt you were dropping things In for a good run.
Plus wasn't Gail supposed to have a JLA Arc planned out as well ? Plus Jurgans and someone else too ? Jesus....who Is the next JLA Writer at this point ?

"So I won't be back after Geoff's arc, but I'll be back. "
I am so incredibly disappointed. Busiek was the kind of writer we needed on JLA. A big name writer who can tell big stories. We know he can write a hell of a team book too.
I was really looking forward to him writing DC's premier team, and really excited that he had mentioned he liked a larger roster. Not that it meant he would expand the roster, but I would love to see a writer do so. The fact that Red Tornado showed up here had me hoping Busiek would bring Reddy back to the team, but now that likely won't happen.
On the bright side, maybe we will get some quality art now.

Astro City is trully great and one of the few titles I buy religiously.
I only wish it were a monthly title.

Wow, there's some bad news, just after reading (and loving) JLA 112. Well I'm not gonna buy 2 separate, rotating creative team JLA books, so DC better get someone good and do it quickly.

He has a point. Why have two different League books with rotating teams? Is it just so different creators can tell a story about the current League, whoever those creators decide those characters are, and for other creators to tell stories about other incarnationso of the League, whoever those creators decide those characters are? That seems a bit redundant and random to me.
